I have just returned from Harvey Norman Martin Place. They started selling at 1.20pm. 16GB were spoken-for by 1.35pm. 32GBs were all spoken-for (and queue, beyond cut-off mark, broken up) by 1.50pm.
A few pix for you:

So, did I manage to photograph any OzBargainers? :-)

+3 votesNot sure what wearing a suit has to do with capacity to pay - I've seen suits cheaper than some jeans + tshirt + sneakers combos. But I was certainly suited-up in that queue.
Show me a 9.7" digital photoframe with capacitive touch, S-IPS display, 32GB on-board storage, WiFi, Flickr/Picasa ready (etc) for le$$.
And yes, I could have afforded one before. But there's NO WAY would I have bought one at $599…but at $148. Simple value proposition in the end.
+4 voteschances are they will port it over. if you do some searching on "touchdroid" you will see that a lot of progress has already been made. and now with so many people buying them for so cheap there will be a larger incentive for developers to keep trying. and for $99 where else could you find a tablet of the same build quality for simple browsing or email?

RandomNinja on 22/08/2011 - 13:22 ¶If you've already got an iPad, is there any reason to get this? I'm trying to justify buying one lol
heatseeker424 on 22/08/2011 - 14:28 ¶With the rumours of the iPad 3's screen resolution being reliable, I'd wait. It's going to be amazing.
fattyboombatty on 22/08/2011 - 13:25 ¶ZDNet reporting the same as well

Anyone know if any Harvey Norman's in ACT have stock?
kunalparikh on 22/08/2011 - 13:29 ¶So, just to confirm, they are going on sale today after 2pm?
Reason I ask is because, I just called my local HN and they said they have not got a confirmation yet??? Should I just check in the store after 2PM today???

Yup, it is confirmed according to Harvey Norman twitter post (http://twitter.com/harveynormanau/status/105482752601751552)
"Here it is! HP TouchPad 16GB NOW $98! TouchPad 32GB NOW $148! Guaranteed 50% OFF all HP TouchPad Accessories. Strictly Limit 1 Per Customer."

it might not be worth $98??? :S

Beware of HP consumer products fire sale. HP is going out of business on consumer products, see http://www.theage.com.au/digital-life/digital-life-news/hp-a...
Not sure what will happen to warranty or parts or support if they sell the electronic consumer business.

Actually.. if you read the article properly - they are saying they MAY sell out the PC department or spin it off as another business. But they are not wrapping up the PC business entirely overnight like what everyone is saying.
"In a dramatic reshuffling, Hewlett-Packard says that it will discontinue its tablet computer and smartphone products and MAY sell or spin off its PC division"
+2 votesdonkeykong on 22/08/2011 - 13:38 ¶I have rang up HN Preston and they said nothing had been confirmed by the head office and that there is no sale today, confusion+++
King Tightarse on 22/08/2011 - 13:39 ¶Hmmm tempted … I guess it's all about whether Android happens for it.
I see all the accessories are being sold off too - any must haves that people see?
+3 votesmedium_tight on 22/08/2011 - 13:40 ¶LOL Just checked HN More Park - Before I ask, the guy already guessed my question LOL - He said "Yes we got lots of call today"
HN More Park - got stock. I dunno how many.

What are these like compared to Optus Prepaid Mytab? http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/48502
