FREE - WindowFlow for Mac (A Proper Alt+Tab App for Mac) [Was $5.49]

110

I hate using expose and the alt-tab on Mac only addresses by application instead of the individual window. This is the first app I've encountered that does Alt+Tab (Like in Windows) right. The only annoyance I have with it is that it does include open apps in the list. Here's the description

"FREE for a limited time to celebrate the launch of my premier window management app: OPTIMAL LAYOUT 2. - Please check it out!

WindowFlow gives you an alternative way of switching between application windows.
Using the option-tab keyboard command you can quickly browse your list of open windows, seeing the Space the window is in and a preview of the window contents.

For many this is a quicker way of switching windows than using command-tab or Exposé."

And yes i'll jump off a cliff if everyone else did it

  • It doesn't seem to play well with full screen apps in Lion.

Hi, I'm the developer of WindowFlow.

You are absolutely right, it's not yet fully compatible with Lion as Apple made some big changes to the way Spaces works. My other product, Optimal Layout, does offer full and proper window switching under Lion though, there's a free trial available from my site: http://most-advantageous.com/optimal-layout/

      • You can measure traffic through the mac app store and iTunes? I guess you learn something everyday.

No, I just happen to be a subscriber to OZ Bargain and saw the post.

  • With gestures, 4 fingers across the touchpad will give you all programs active to switch between. Also, corners are programmable to switch windows.

lol no alt tab on macs?

    • There's an alt+tab, but its application based instead of window based, so if you have 3 Chrome windows open, only one of them will be displayed. If you think that's bad, the file manager doesn't even have cut and paste.

      • I might give this a try. I'm still on leopard, haven't upgraded to Lion yet. It's one of my bugbears about Macs, the Alt+tab thing.

My biggest bugbears with Mac OS are:

        • No Cut/Paste
        • Hitting the red X doesn't shut down apps, just hides the window
        • No maximize button (the + button behaves very differently with different apps)
        • Alt+tab is a bit crap
        • Mac OS seems to forget wireless details a lot unless you dick with the key chain storage (just my personal experience on this one)

Sounds like instead of upgrading to Lion, you ought to upgrade to Windows. ;-P

        • Cut&Paste, have a tabbed Finder and more - Purchase TotalFinder (18 USD)
Hitting the red X does close the window, it just doesn't close the application, use 'Command+Q'.
To maximise - purchase better snap tool ($1.99)
          Alt+Tab, use WindowFlow
Wireless details - Throw your Mac out the window.

EDIT: Apparently Lion has Cut and Paste now

        • Or, you could just get a windows machine and save yourself the hassle :)

      • You can press cmd+` to cycle through windows of the focused application. OS X used to bother me until I discovered that.

I just noticed your tags for this deal include 'pizza'. Is that because having an alt+tab frees up your other hand to eat a slice of pizza?
