Ultimate Ears Megablast $278 + Delivery ($0 C&C /In-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

50

*Limited Stock

Great sounding speaker from Ultimate Ears - the Megablast. Comes with Alexa integrated if you're into that sort of thing.
Waterproof, dust proof with decent battery life, has reviewed well.

I'm not sure when the sale started but I think when I checked the price a couple of days ago it was at full retail of $379, so a very recent discount.

JB have 3 colours all on sale for $278 plus delivery ($101 off):

Happy shopping!

Sound quality really isn't one of it's best features unfortunately…

  • I would recommend the JBL Charge 4 over this

Doesn't have WiFi but you can charge your phone from it as it has a huge battery.

  • I have a JBL extreme 1, which is now 5+ years old. Is this any better?

No. This doesn't match up to JBL sound quality

  • I’ve had one of these speakers for a while now and love it. If you don’t plan on taking it outside of a wifi source, the wifi compatibility is very useful. It’s pleasant not needing your phone on you to play music, as is not needing to constantly worry about how far away your phone is from the speaker for fear of the Bluetooth cutting out. It also allows for the music to stream via wifi directly to the speaker, allowing for better audio quality due to less data compression. The Alexa voice recognition could be better implemented, and may prove frustrating at times when it simply doesn’t understand a specific request. With that said it’s not difficult to work around this, and I’d easily take some voice recognition capability over none. It can get loud when necessary and I find the audio quality quite reasonable.

  • Well I did pick one up, so I'll report back with a review after it is fired up next weekend (it's a present!)
I was going by reviews such as this one:
    https://www.whathifi.com/ultimate-ears/megablast/review

which are mostly pretty positive so hopefully it all pans out! I actually listened to the range of UE speakers in a JB Hi-Fi store before I pulled the trigger and I liked the clarity and restrained bass of the megablast compared to the Boom range. Unfortunately the displays for JBL and Sony bluetooth speakers weren't working at the time so I can't comment on those.

  • My work mate bought one for his partner today and said it was great!

  • Anyone spending ~$300 on a portable speaker should check out the Bose Soundlink Revolve plus. It's not wifi, but sound is excellent. $298 from amazon recently.
