Good deal .. but most of us are still sponging off the beteasy 3 months free (sets reminder to redeem new acct in Mar).

    • As am I. I'll cut over to this once BetEasy completes.

    • Yep. I'm in this boat too

      • +4

me too! It's a big boat!

    • +22

I think I'm on my third time around with bet easy. Nothing like ripping off a news corp subsidiary and a betting company…

      • Do you have to set up a new account in Beteasy with a new email address to do that? The T&C says for new subscribers only.

        • +2

Yes, you need to setup new accounts with BetEasy as the codes only work once with a Kayo account. I just add period to my email to create a new account i.e [email protected] becomes [email protected]. Emails still go to the same email account. I also have two kayo accounts that I cycle through so I get two uses with each of the BetEasy codes.

          • @twjr: Thanks, good tip.

          • @twjr: How did you get past the issue of needing a mobile to verify? My dodgy email worked but the mobile code required stuffs me up as I have already accessed kayo with my number.

            • @Twocupteabag: I cycle between a couple of different kayo accounts linked to different phone numbers. Seems to work. Just reactivated one of my accounts with a new beteasy code today.

        • +1

They don't verify the email, just make a fake account each time.

        • Could you please link me to the process of extending the kayo account @twjr ?
I've got an existing kayo account that is about to run out of my 3 months.
I did a new sign up thing on easy bet, got the voucher code from the url, but if I put that into kayo, it says it's for new subscriptions.

          • @parkies: Anyone, please?
            Is this still possible?

            • @parkies: As above. I use a couple of kayo accounts with different numbers and cycle between them. Not sure if this matters but it has worked for me each time. The BetEasy codes do seem to have a valid time period though as I just tried to use an older one that I hadn't used for one of my Kayo accounts and it came up with an expired error. Signed up for a new BetEasy account (using a dodgy email this time) and entered the code. Coming up as three months free.

Edit: Also seems to be giving me 3 months free premium this time too. Not that I need to watch on three screens at once.

              • @twjr: Oh! I missed that you had multiple Kayo accounts as well. Thanks!
No idea why I can't seem to @ you, but thanks for replying!

    • +1

I just used this deal. Existing Telstra customer, and only cancelled Kayo in March.

  • +4

To clarify, normal pricing seems to be:
    Basic $25/month
    Premium $35/month
Both of those have a 14 day free trial period.

  • +34

    right price point $15/$25 imo

  • Hmm wonder how long this is going to last for? Was trying to hold onto my Beteasy until AFL season starts so won't need to redeem this until June

    • +1

@mike-77 based on the image in the post it appears the offer is valid to June 30th.

      • +1

:) Thanks. That will teach me to look properly before asking a question

    • +1

Does the Telstra free NRL/AFL pass still exist? Should be just as good for streaming the AFL?

      • Still exists but it's mobile only. There's a Kodi extension to get it on the big screen, but it's convoluted and only streams at 30fps 720p, which is horrible for sports.

      • Yes, but it's mobile devices only - no easy way to watch on your TV (there are ways though). The resolution/size is limited too.

  • +3

    no luck for boost customers?

  • -8

Got the free trial from Beteasy and gotta say I'm not really impressed with Kayo…

    • +3

Please elaborate because I've had it for over a year and I love it

    • +2

+1. I'd purchase it if it was $10 p/m for premium. NBA streaming was slow and limited games from memory, AFL streaming was woeful for me for some reason. Constant stuttering

      • +2

Sounds device or internet related, no issues here.

        • +2

I had a similar experience across a few devices. No issue with other streaming services (even Hulu using dns changes)… just issues with Kayo. Would buffer and get stuck or take ages to initially load.

Occurred while casting to Apple TV and Chromecasting too. iOS standalone seemed to be very good though. As soon as a casting device is involved it seems to get upset. Tried multiple networks and connection methods (cable + wireless).

I had Foxtel sports at the time so didn't worry too much about it.. was just a Kayo trial… but will be actually using it this footy season now that Foxtel is gone so will troubleshoot properly if the issues are still present. Will likely be using the native Samsung app this time around though.

          Thanks OP! Great deal.

      • Agreed NBA games are so limited… And the ui is terrible on both Telstra tv and browser.

  • Any idea how long I have to cancel Kayo for before I'm considered a returning customer?

    • +1

Whenever your billing cycle ends. I just cancelled and have access to kayo until the the end of my cycle which is 29/2. After that I'll sign up again via Telstra.

    • I CXL'd 11/02/20, got the promo price sign up today, had to swap from Telstra billing to CC.

  • Will this bill through your Telstra account?

    • I believe so, yes.

    • See above, I got an error and had to change my billing method.

  • +1

    Telstra/Kayo rep on site?

It would be great if Telstra/Kayo open this offer for the public with the same one year commitment & price!

    • +1

Maybe i mis-read your comment, but this is not a per year cost, it is still per month, just $10 less then normal.

      • Correct.

    • +2

Yep, I get that this is a per month discount. Happy to pay $180 per year for Kayo.
I can guess that they have people joining during the NRL/AFL season, but then leave around Sep-Oct, so that's why this sale is now. To keep you committed for a year rather than 6 months or so.

Re why this is addressed to Telstra: Kayo —> Foxtel —> Telstra.. Hopefully this makes sense..

      • +1

The offer says "Monthly Subscription" and also doesn't say anything about having to stay connected for the full 12 months. I only subscribe for the AFL season, so I'd be interested to know whether taking up this offer is committing to having it for the full 12 months….

      • While this offer seems like it's just a special monthly price for Telstra customers, I agree that it would be good if Kayo offered a discount like this for anyone who wants to commit for 12 months. I would sign up for something like this straight away.

  • +2

Wish they would hurry up and add 4K. It’s already on Foxtel so really not that hard.

    • +4

adding 4K to streaming isn't as simple as getting someone at Kayo to click on an Enable 4K checkbox

      • -2

It is if you are a Netflix or Amazon. That's ehy Amazon says Easy As. Where we are talking about a living dinosaur Foxtel here, so 4K 60fps HDR streaming is still a year or more away.

        • +5

Easy if you've got pre-recorded 4K stuff optimised and ready to go, or have to serve up a single stream to lots of satellite customers. Not so easy for live on demand stuff…

    • +1

They won't be adding 4K anytime soon. They've made a big deal about only satellite guaranteeing 4K transmission. 4K is also one of their big sell-points for full Foxtel. All part of the Qantas/Jetstar model. Kayo will be the no frills off-shoot for a while yet.

  • Key to note it is post paid customers only. So those of us with the 365 day long term will not be able to access this.

  • +3

I just wish Kayo streaming was quota-free on Telstra, I signed up to Kayo a few weeks ago and am about to exceed my data allowance for the first time in years.

  • What’s the diff between standard and premium?

    • +2

More screens at once from memory. Same quality.

    • +1

more simultaneous users on Premium (4 vs 2 from memory)

There doesn't appear to be a users limit (we have 4 user profiles on our Standard Kayo sub)

  • +1

I seem to only be seeing the offer for Kayo basic, not premium.

  • +3

Noice - will look into this after beteasy ban me and my 3 month trial burner accounts

  • +1

Does it work if you have Telstra Bigpond Internet

    • +1

Appears to. The offer is showing up for me in the app and I no longer have a post paid phone, only Telstra NBN and Boost prepaid.

Note: I couldn't seem to find it when browsing the normal website, and only saw it in my "Offers" on the 24/7 app.

  • Does this apply to Telstra broadband/home phone plans?

  • boom… cancelled… will sign back up just before footy season.

  • Still waiting for Kayo to release their app for gaming consoles!

  • +1

Had kayo for a year now and the most value is during footy season. Thought I'd get more NBA out of it but they only show limited games.

  • +1

    Got One! Thanks OP.

  • +3

15 should be the normal price

  • +1

Anyway you could sign up for this deal but still pay through itunes cards. Was planing to do this after the beteasy stops being free. Would work out to just $12 a month with 20% off itunes cards. Also is it still 2 logins with the basic package, as could split the cost with a mate.

    • There's no way you could do this mate. With this offer you are billed through your Telstra account.

      • @Big Trev below said

I've been told by Kayo that it does not need to be billed via Telstra
So there could be a way to, unless you've put it to the test urself already @jmys01

      • Can confirm I have the offer, but am paying by credit card.

      • I CXL'd 11/02/20, got the promo price sign up today, had to swap from Telstra billing to CC.

    • No option to sign up, with this discount, whilst paying via iTunes. You have the choice of following the link or inputting the coupon code within the link’s URL. But, in order to pay via iTunes, you have to sign up via the app, which has no capacity to apply these discounts.

More than happy to be shown otherwise, though

  • IS this eligible to pre paid customers?

  • -5

so I remember last year wanting to get kayo but never did and forgot why. so I signed up for that 3 month trial today from betfair/beteasy whoever it was.

and now I remember why I didn't bother before. no ps4 app still. this has been "in development" for over a year. I'm trying to watch via the ps4 browser but buggy as he'll and barely works.

glad it's a trial only, no way I'll be paying until they get a ps4 app out as that's the only way for me to watch from the tv

    • +2

Its 2020 who doesnt have android tv or a chromecast. Hell even hookup a laptop

      • +1

i dont? dont have a laptop either, ps4 and plex/netflix etc has done everything ive ever needed except kayo.

and you are right its 2020. what streaming service doesnt have an app for a popular platform nor allow it to work from said platforms browser.
guess i wont be paying after the trial is up

        • +5

A specific PS4 app is such a small percentage of the market. Id say its probably not worth the development costs to integrate it

  • I have found this offer in my Telstra Broadband account, however we are switching in about a months time when we move to a cheaper alternative, any idea if we sign up now will our Kayo continue on?

    • +1

Unlikely I'd say as you are billed on your Telstra account.

      • +1

You can bill via credit card instead so you can cancel your Telstra plan if you want and continue to get the Kayo discount.

  • I like that Kayo lets you pay month to month with no subscription. I pay for it during Big bash then cancel it

  • +1

Do you have to pay it by putting it on the same post paid account, or can you just use a post paid account to sign up and dump like $180 on there

  • Is anyone still getting the Kayo from the Herald Sun deal 12 months ago?

    • Yes, 3rd year (inc the original Foxtel now sports package) and was annoyed they were not running it again this year.
Expires end of March and I will jump onto this offer. Sweet.
F1 delayed streaming is worth it - none of this waiting for Foxel to rebroadcast the event 12-18 hours later.

  • I've got a currently separate Kayo account (on credit card), I'm assuming I need to stop that and start a new account? Or does anyone know if you can transfer the existing accounts over to this deal?

    • For anyone that's interested, nearest to an answer I can get from Telstra is that it needs to be a new account.
Apparently you can use the same email address to register etc. I haven't tried yet, but my subscription renews in 4 or 5 days so I'll have an attempt and see how I go.

      • Further update. Telstra's frontline staff (chat or phone) have no idea what they're talking about this, so don't even try.

If you're in my boat, this may help. Gleaned from chat with Kayo online support

I'm a current Kayo subscriber, paying by credit card. You can't directly move from this situation to this offer.
I need to cancel my current sub. Then wait until my paid for subscription stops (for me, my subscription doesn't end until 17th Feb), so then I'm a "returning customer" and eligible for the offer. Once that stops, apparently you can then click through the Telstra link to sign up for this offer, and I don't need the billing done through Telstra (at least that's what I was told).

I'll try on the 18th, and see how I go and report back.

        • +1

Can confirm that once your old sub is cancelled and expired, if you click through to the special deal you can sign up OK.

          • @Big Trev: But how was your billing done in the end?

            • +1

@jdr: Way overdue response, but my billing was done direct by credit card by Kayo.

  • +2

Only reason I'd get Kayo would be to watch International Test Cricket in Australia's off season. Looks like Australia has no test matches this year. How depressing.

    • Bit ridiculous isnt it

  • Does it include boost customers too?

  • +1
