It's not even 'so bad it's good', just lame. Would have been a complete forgotten 'meh' if it wasn't made by what was (once) one of the most creative developers around with a huge budget.
Flying around is fun, it looks nice, gameplay is boring as hell.
With their latest announcement, it looks like it's going to get some major improvements sometime later this year. I wouldn't be surprised if it turned into a No Man's Sky type story.
It's exactly as boring as people say. I bought it for a laugh at $4 and was still disappointed.

The fact the game is 12 months old within 2 weeks from now and the 'big update' they spoke about today has no ETA and they're talking about taking the time they need on it, makes me think it'll either morph into Anthem 2 or a FTP model. By most reports the games already dead and 6 to 12 months time it'll likely be much worse. There's going to need to be a cost associated with the update or a completely different business model given the games been at $4 since late last year. EA's not a charity and they're going to need to make money somewhere. At $4 a pop, it sure isn't going to be current retail sales where they make back their money.

FYI - You need PS plus to play the game. I made the mistake of not checking so ended up trading the game ( which i bought for 5 bucks from JB) to EB for about 2 bucks.
I bought for $5 from HN delivered and traded in for $8 at EB.
