  • I got it from some australian retailer on ebay for $21 delivered. Not on special or anything.

So $20 delivered is not THAT special…

  • Yeah decent price. been hovering in low $20s for a while.

  • +1

    SS again? meh.

  • danilo chan can you do better with sdhc (not micro) class 4 or above please

    • SDHC Card cost is still high. By the way, it should be working the same with the SD adapter, right?

  • Retail package?

    • Pretty sure it is not. It came in a small plastic card case when I got mine. Was not impressed, as no where it says "Not in retail packaging".

    • It's Bulk card with plastic protection case

      • EDIT:
The Sandisk MicroSD is Bulk card with plastic protection case
The Kingston SD is in Original Retail Package.

    any 32GB ?

    • ^^ This

      • +1

I bought one last week from these guys on ebay for $49.50, free post and it arrived today. Seems good.

  • What I want to know is why does it cost more to ship a 32gb card than a 16gb card? 16gb $1.95 32gb $5.99

    • +7

The weight of the extra 16 Gb's….obviously.

    • Why even charge $1.95 when the cost of a stamp is $0.60 and envelope maybe $0.05

      • +2

        postage AND handling?

        • +3

Yeah, they're pretty heavy - 2 person lift min!

      • Because labour isn't free.

  • I have recently bought a Lexa 32G Class 10 for $86. The speed gain is incredible. You will noticed this when transferring big movie files and also when you fast forward as it is almost instantaneous unlike the Class 4 which will takes a few seconds to catchup.

will you interested with Kingston 32GB Class 10 for $49.95 FREE shipping?
      - Shipping from Sydney with GST Invoice and Australia Warranty.

      • Thats a pretty good price!

      • Yes please.

      • Yes please!

      • How much can you do a Class 10 16Gb incl of shipping for? The 32Gb at $50 is tempting, though, I don't think I'll ever need that much memory on my tablet, esp since the onboard memory is so low.

        • Kingston 16Gb Class 10 could be just below $30 free shipping, the 32GB will be better for GB/$ value. I am working on it, will post the link here once ready.

        • I'd be up for a 16Gb. My stupid phone only accepts 16Gb as it's max size.

      • I'd be interested for sure. Please post the details. Thanks.

      • I would be definately interested!!

Is it with 5 years Oz warranty?

        • it's 5 years Oz warranty, if you any problem within 5 year and a replacement will be provided.

      • So this deal up yet?

    • +1

      what happened ?

    • -2

I could neg you for having a poor reason for negging this deal - but in the spirit of your post I am going to neg you because I can't possibly trust someone who just makes up words for their username instead!

      • +6

They are a dubious retailer with questionable sales policies, and all you save is a dollar or two over getting it from somewhere reputable, it is an excellent reason to neg the deal. Youre username is rou real name I presume?

  • anyone else have trouble using their reward points with SS? They say that it will prompt you to redeem at checkout if you've got more than 5000 points, but I went through the whole process and ended up being charged the full whack, no prompt to redeem points.

    • baz123

Do you have more than 5000points in your SS account? the redeem page won't come up if the point balance below 5000.

      • yep there's about 12000

  • Seems like a decent deal, thanks OP.

  • bought one, thx!

  • thanx

  • Thanks. Got one.

  • interesting

  • OP: Can you confirm that these are legitimately produced Kingston Memory cards?

There has been a ton of counterfeits floating around, especially those "bought in bulk" with no retail packaging. Even the retail packaging can be easily produced (paper, ink, plastic).

    Simple non-Linux tools;

    For a more in-depth analysis, or how to detect fakes, please read this person's blog (ugh, I hate blogs, but this one's actually informative). A very good read for those who use memory cards for their line of work, i.e. photography;

    http://www.bunniestudios.com/blog/?p=918

EDIT1: When will SDHC be back in stock? FYI I'm interested in buying, hence why I'm asking for authenticity before spending money.

    • The Kingston SD card is in Original Kingston Retail Pack, and it's legitimately produced by Kingston.

The item is in stock right now.

  • Thanks, picking one up for the phone.

  • Need a microSD card but want the SD, such good value! Tough choice, good deal.

  • these class 4 Sandisk ARE NOT as speedy as the original class 2's, the reduction in price reflects the performance of these cards.

and yes, most retailers are probably a dollar or two above, SS did have dubious business practices so no vote from me.

      Copy/paste from other thread:
Very few results testing specifically the SanDisk 16GB Class 4 for random 4k R/W.

I found one which suggests the Class 4 is faster than the "old" August 2010 Class 2.

Some "old" SanDisk (not specifically 16GB) Class 2 cards had faster sequential writes, by 1-2MB/s, but their random 4k R/W speeds were abysmal.

What I can ascertain from this thread is: class ratings are not indicative of random r/w performance, only sequential writes (as that's all they are meant for)

As there are a lot of other variables we do not know about (slower card readers, completely different machines, etc) it's hard to get an accurate picture. I'm expecting my SanDisk 16GB Class 4 card (from SS) any day now and will do a CDM test and share results.

      SanDisk 16GB Comparison

      August 2010 Class 2:
      Sequential Read : 14.178 MB/s
      Sequential Write : 3.681 MB/s
      Random Read 4KB (QD=1) : 1.263 MB/s [ 308.4 IOPS]
      Random Write 4KB (QD=1) : 0.307 MB/s [ 75.0 IOPS]

      June 2011 Class 4:
      Sequential Read : 20.856 MB/s
      Sequential Write : 6.180 MB/s
      Random Read 4KB (QD=1) : 3.061 MB/s [ 747.3 IOPS]
      Random Write 4KB (QD=1) : 0.972 MB/s [ 237.3 IOPS]

  • so i bought a sandisk 8gb with no retail packaging? Does it mean i got a fake one? wasn't too happy when i saw it like that too

    • Why don't you just run the usual tests on it? Then you'll know, rather than complaining here that something "might" have happened.

      • Its a valid concern.
I think the onus is on retailers who advertise brand name cards, in a sea of fakes, to prove they are the real thing. At the very least they should point out if they are sold without retail packaging.

Many fakes are inferior or reject flash memory that is dressed to look like the real thing.
There is more to it than just capacity.

        • +1

And how do they prove that? They can't. The best that can be done is buying from somewhere you can trust, then testing it once you get it.

It makes as much sense as the earlier question: "OP: Can you confirm that these are legitimately produced Kingston Memory cards?" Let me guess what the answer would be, either way. Deadset.

    • one of the hardest things to fake is the imprinted serial number on it, its really tiny but you should be able to see it. Most fakes are missing this unique serial code.

  • Just bought one, I hope it wont take long to receive it… :)

  • Be very wary of purchasing SD memory on ebay. There are a lot of scammers around Not to say that this current offer is non-legit, it seems ok.

I bought SD memory on Ebay and it was totally bogus.. the thing I found interesting was how quickly and without any sort of issue the seller refunded my purchase in full when I challenged them on their product - they must've known they were selling fakes. I guess I was one of the lucky ones as there are plenty who buy and don't get refunded. I'm sure most of the buyers don't even know they got a fake.

This is a good website to check out:

Use h2testw to fully test your cards - if it fails this test, you've got a dud.

  • Brought one of these from SS, hopefully it doesn't take long for P&H but for $20 it's not bad.

  • Can you post the Kingston MicroSD 32GB Class 10 through your website link.
I dont have Ebay account as I hate buying things from Ebay ;)
    Cheers.

  • +1

Code is still valid. Got a 16gb class 4 for $20 hard to beat really! Cheers!

  • Damn the eBay deals expired. Can you repost? :D

  • Coupon code has expired :(

Ended up getting one for $21.70 from no_worries_online - They have faster turn around times then ShoppingSquare.

    • Mine was bought Sunday, posted Monday, received Tuesday.

  • More deals please!

    • Yeah, another MicroSD card deal would be nice. I didn't put in an order as I'm still working out how much data I'll be utilising on my tablet.

  • I want one - update the free shipping code

    • Late to the party, but still polite. nice.
