Norton Antivirus 2011 $23.50 Including Free Delivery - Dick Smith

110

You know what it is, you know what it does.

Either you like it or you hate it, but good value is good value.

I know you can get it at comparable prices from a few online retailers, but this is guaranteed to be the australian version, and its from a big retailer so you get that safety net as well.

enjoy.

Either you like it or you hate it

The latter for mine ; )

Security essentials + Avast for me.

    • Yeah AVAST for me too, it's solid and it's free which is fantastic for the ozbargainer

    • +2

      You shouldn't run both.

      • ^this

You shouldn't have 2 AV's running at the same time

        • to be honest, I've noticed no conflicts on my PC, but do notice that Avast seems to pick up more "stuff".

If I had to keep one, which would you recommend keeping? Avast or Microsoft Security Essentials?

        • I personally use MSE
but i haven't used avast yet

just doing a quick google search
A majority say MSE is better, however it's really opinionative

  • Norton is back lol

    • -6

Yep… right back… in the dark corner!

      • +1

A meagre dislike for a product is no reason to neg it.

Personally I don't approve of any AV solution other than MSE for the casual user, but if someone wanted to buy this junk, it's still better than paying full price.

        • Has anyone neg'd it?

        • Has anyone neg'd it?

          not that i can see…

        • +1

I didn't neg it because the OP at least shows to know this isn't a deal.
About the + they must be from from friends, relatives and employees :)

        • "but if someone wanted to buy this junk, it's still better than paying full price."

So, we cannot neg "junk" on OZB?? Come on??? How can a yellow box for $24 be a "bargain"??? Please explain?

        • +1

dealhunt>> "I didn't neg it because the OP at least shows to know this isn't a deal"

So if it is not a deal then why encourage people to screw their computer with it, as well as wasting money?

daveted "Has anyone neg'd it?" You are not allowed to.

    dw i got Norton lol

  • I'm loving kaspersky.. got it for free, otherwise i'd use avast/security essentials.
(no, not the free chinese version, although i was using that for a while = p)

    p.s I hate norton

Still $23.50 too much, but still + vote for the Op for the effort

    • You forgot this is a bargain web site.

      • yeah, is Ozbargain now an effort web site ??? :S

    • So we can post anything at all and it will get + for the effort?
I thought this site was about products worth buying at a good price??

  • LOL morpretty much the same price here:

yet managed to score heaps of neg votes… the ozb community is wierd!

    • Spot on wisc. Do we have a rogue mod?

  • New version 2012 is in the market. no point of going for 2011 outdated. pl post it a non-outdated…..

  • +2

apparently norton post-2010 is actually a decent AV program…i personally wouldnt touch it with a 50-foot pole because of terrible experiences i had with every version they released since the late 90s.

I have been using NOD32 for the last 5 years and im not about to stop. :)

    • I too had "very" bad experience with Norton and very happy now with NOD.

      • +2

        +1 for NOD32 - awesome!

      • +1

Be careful, the Nortons fanbois will get upset! You and millions other have discovered that the free alternatives are far better.

  • I negged this post because in my opinion and with many others it just cannot be a "bargain" when there are many products that are clearly better and are "free".

If an inferior product is $23.50 and better products (including MSE) are free then this is clearly not a bargain!

If you want to chooke the heart out of your computer with useless junk then go Nortons.

I will not bother to ask why my neg vote was revoked.

    Beam me up Scotty!

  • Yes I can recommend NOD over any other antivirus, it's fast, lite, good detection. Just bought a enterprise licence for work.

This is still a bargain, retail is much higher and it has free delivery.

You could also get Malware Bytes life time licence for the same price and use it with MS Security Essentials, this would arguably give the best protection possible, that's assuming people are keeping their OS updated!

  • I'm technologically chanlleged, and since my laptop came with Norton I stuck with that, 5 days till it expires though… And not sure what to use next? MSE perhaps?

  • You can download NIS 2012 90 day trial for free if anyone is interested.
