I'm assuming code at the bottom (NATexTAS) - means National, Excludes Tasmania.

    • Good spotting. Hoping a Woolies employee can comment.

    • +1

That would be right as Tasmania doesn’t have Woolies Rewards.

      • -1

Move up here to the sunny state

        The sun is prettier here

    • +2

That would be right as Tasmania is not part of Australia

      • +3

Wouldn't want to be part of the mainland anyway. 40+ days of no new cases and 0 active cases of COVID. We actually understand what social distancing is and how to you know… wash hands!

        • +1
        • +2

Yes, all 3 of you understand what social distancing is :)

          • +2

@miser1: We also know how to count past 3 :)

        • +1

We do? Look around Burnie and devonport and it is clear social distancing is very lax. Let's be honest. The reason for no new known cases is due to being and island thus making it easier to control who comes and goes but more importantly how sparse the population is compared to cities on the mainland. You seem to have quickly forgot the NW had the highest infection rate per capita.

          • @tessel: People in Burnie and Devonport are the kind of people to think it's a hoax. I work in Healthcare and the amount of staff working in those hospitals that were lax on hygiene because they thought it would never happen was quite high.

        • I am sure HK feels the same about Gina..

        • Social distancing was normal for you guys due to the smell

^ Joke, dont get offended too much!

  • -5

Sp 10% off eBay + virus

  • How do these work? I pick up the card and keep a hard copy or is it a digital receipt with barcode? DO I get points for each card purchased or is it limited to one?

    • +1

      Physical Gift Cards

      • Thanks, i'm assuming it's common for them to sell out fast?

        • +1

The last time Woolworths ran a similar deal, I had to travel to a few Woolworths just to find them.

          • @RichardL: Cheers mate. Did you get credited points for each card? or just once per transaction?

            • +1

@PlagueistheCheap: Credited points for each card, but that was a while ago.

They might have changed it recently, since you can't use Point to purchase Gift Cards Now.

          • +1

@RichardL: Hahaa same here. I went to like 8 woolworths

  • can you use Woolworths points to buy gift cards?

    • -4

      Yes

    • +4

      No, according to this comment

Please note you can no longer use the points towards future spending on more gift cards

      • +9

        Yep, it's changed.
Last time a similar deal ran for Ultimate Gift card for HimJBhifi in November 2019, it definitely stopped working.
Was helping a friend out.. and instead I got stuck with $200~ worth of Woolies rewards dollars because of this new rule

For anyone interested in the calculations, Richard L's linked comment (is mine) applies to eBay gift cards, equally to the Ultimate GC for Him/Kids promotion

Please note you can no longer use the points towards future spending on more gift cards

I.e. the discount is 10% off in the form of Woolworths Dollars (which are really worth around 5-6% less since you can pay with eGift for normal supermarket spending).

E.g. for $100, you get 2000 points worth $10 spend in the future, but that $10 can be substituted by a 5% off Woolies eGift (or 6% if you look in classifieds/find a private seller), so the $10 woolies dollars is really worth $9.40-$9.50 cash discount).

I.e. this represents 9.4-9.5% off in the form of future spend locked in Woolies

Great source of discount for JBHifi gift cards though!

Same calculation applies for eBay gift cards in this deal

True discount is 9.4-9.5% off eBay cards in the form of future spend locked in Woolies

  • Good deal. 10% off if you've ran out of these. I am going to stock some.

    • actually 5% off. Woolworth gift card 5% off

      • huh>?

        • I think what he meant was the points can only be used with Woolies, but buying stuff from woolies normally have 5% discount using egift card. That resulted in 10% - 5% = 5%.

          • @fatice: Although that logic is flawed..

          • @fatice: No that’s not how it works. If you minus 5% out of the bonus 10% (or $10 if you bought $100 gc), the end ‘value’ of the bonus points is 9.5%.

            • @magster: @mokr Thats an interesting way of looking at it.
$100 Ebay Gift card = $10 worth if Wollies points to spend instore.
Now keep in mind, one cannot buy the Ebay card using a Wollies GiftCard.
In turn you need to spend $100 cash to buy the Ebay gift card.

Now if one were to buy $100 worth of shopping in Wollies using a E-Gift Card which only cost $95 (being 5% off), then one is really only saving 5% on the Ebay gift card as one doesn't get to use E-Giftcard to purchase Ebay Card. In short only saved $5 not $10.

              • +1

@Borg: Let's say I want to spend $10 to buy Toilet Paper at Woolies.

I can use a Woolies e-giftcard at 5% off & pay $9.50, or a saving of $0.50 on the Toilet Paper.

Alternately, I can buy the e-Bay giftcard for $100, and will get $10 rewards points.

I can now get the $10 of Toilet Paper without paying anything more, so my saving is $10.

                • @vikvance: Huh….not sure what your point is. I already nothed the same? I am only comparing value of this deal in that it really only saves 5% for those that usually use Wollies gift cards when shopping.

                  • @Borg: Since Coles is on eBay, think as 10% bonus in both of them with minimum spend.

It is funny to pay Woolies first and then spend at Coles, though.

            • +1

@magster: You are right, my mistake. :)

  • I think it used to be 2000

    • It usually 1000 Points (Worth $5) for $50 Gift Cards & 2000 Points (Worth $10) for $100 Gift Cards.

      • -1

Has definitely been 2000 points for a $50 ebay gc in the past

        • +2

          Link?
It has never been 2000 points for $50 eBay gc, it has been for netflix and other less popular cards
It's always 10% in the form of Woolies points, but in the past you could use the points immediately in the next transaction even against gift cards..

    • +1

      Thats for a $100 one.

Offer usually available on all denominations of pictured gift cards.

  • +2

Only one credit of 1000 points per Rewards card?

    • Bugger, if that's true

    • +1

This is not a flybuys offer.

    • +1

In the past there was no limit how many times you could redeem, though you might want to keep it to 10 or less per transaction.

    • +2

I bought 6 cards, the credit stacks, ended up with $60 credit

  • Do you get Amex points (and also the Supermarket Bonus Points - 2 per $1) for purchasing physical these gift cards?

    • +2

      Why wouldn’t you? :/

    • +1

Confirmed you do get the points

  • +1

Is it one card per Woolworths account?

  • +4

Great way to pay my ATO bill. The hounds have been on me particularly hard this season!

    • It's iTunes gift cards for Tax office

      • -1

Nah, the scammers have been asking for eBay codes recently.

    • You can pay ATO with an ebay voucher?

      • Its a joke with the Scams that ask you to pay in Gift Cards, especially iTunes

      • Only If they call you when there is an arrest order from a law enforcing agency for not paying your tax bill on time

      • Darn, I'd love to be able to rack up some FF points for ATO payments again. Those were the days…

  • I wonder if ebay gc is still popular since they have run very limited 20% off deals nowadays
    I haven't bought a single item from ebay in last 4 months…

    • +1

if the item your are looking for is nowhere cheaper than ebay, than the extra 10% would be even better. otherwise, those 20% sitewide+15% giftcard+ x%cashback won't be back anytime soon

    • good for small items when u don't want to go to shop, like presta valves

  • Is there a limit to how many of these eBay gift cards can be used per purchase?

    • +3

      https://tc.ebay.com.au/ebay-gift-cards

No more than a total of $1,500 in Gift Cards may be redeemed per transaction, no more than a total of $2,000 in Gift Cards may be redeemed per day, and no more than a total of $5,000 in Gift Cards may be redeemed per calendar month. Further, you may only redeem a maximum of eight Gift Cards in any single transaction (and fewer if you are redeeming Gift Cards in combination with other redemption codes, such as coupons or vouchers).

      • thanks

      • +3

I actually used 20+ Gift cards last December.

        • however limit $1500 is being applied

        • I can not use more than 8 cards when I bought 5700xt from Ebay yesterday. lucky I have 4 x $100 cards, in the ends have to pay $60 something by paypal.

          • @couger: Hi was the 5700xt you bought only $460? do you mind sending me the link please thanks

  • limit to number purchased?

  • only ebay, TGG and jbhifi?

    • +2

It's not really TCG and JB Hi-Fi; they're EFTPOS cards you can use there (as well as other stores listed on the card). If you want to buy from TCG and JB Hi-Fi online, you'll have to buy gift cards with the EFTPOS cards

      • Are you saying that the Ultimate JB & TGGs GCs are really eftpos cards that can be used anywhere eftpos is accepted

Does that apply to ultimate gift for home and ultimate gift for student

        • +1

Are you saying that the Ultimate JB & TGGs GCs are really eftpos cards that can be used anywhere eftpos is accepted

I didn't say it, you said it. Feel free to try it out and let us know.

        • +6

Are you saying that the Ultimate JB & TGGs GCs are really eftpos cards that can be used anywhere eftpos is accepted

          Tested this in the past.
They're EFTPOS cards restricted to their respective stores

It does say EFTPOS at the back, and in-store they process it as such.
The Ultimate GCs cannot be used online, but they can be used to pay for JBHifi gift cards in-store (for example) as they deduct as EFTPOS cards at the JBHifi checkout. With the JBHifi gift cards, you would then be able to purchase online (but.. you were just instore)

          • @cwongtech: This guy knows

          • @cwongtech: Thanks, I didn't know this. I will go into JB and convert the ultimate cards for jb hifi gift cards.

            • @unity1: Out of curiosity - why? Only benefit I can think of is to use it online?

              • @kacak: Yes, correct to use online

        • +3

My understanding is that they can block certain merchant numbers (can't remember the technical term for this) so they can restrict it to certain retailers.

Same way as Centrelink locking the BasicsCard to essentials.

      • Can you definitely buy gift cards using these cards? If so then while it's an additional step it's still quite good.

Also, can you use TGG gift cards on TGG Commercial?

        • It is OK to purchase if the cashier is knowledgeable. Otherwise, no. I did several times, being accepted and declined.

        • +2

For JB, I would get a $100 card, pay for it at the counter and tell them you're paying by EFTPOS. The cashier won't know any difference as it's swipe and pin rather than barcode and pin like the JB cards.

Then combine them online at JB's website (add a $500 card to cart and pay for it using 5x $100 gift cards).

TGG Commercial only has credit card and Paypal as payment options unfortunately.

  • +1

Does this also qualify for Qantas points exchange (ie 2000 rewards = 1000 qantas points)? I note they only call out the shopping discount not qantas rewards on the signage.

Also with the qantas status points promo running to the end of June - hopefully this is a quick way of topping up.

    • +2

Yes you can do it that way too

    • +3

I was thinking exactly that. I don’t see a reason why it wouldn’t convert to Qantas points and status credits. The promo is for 2000 reward points. How are you choose to redeem those points is a separate setting in your Rewards account and I don’t see that there would be any way of differentiating how those points are earned

Basically I see this as 10 status credits and 1000 points plus $100 gift card. That’s a pretty good deal

      • Is it limited to a max of 50SC right?

        • Yeh unfortunately.
Otherwise I’d be platinum in one day haha

          • @Hoju: Lol you can always try.

            • @nightelves: Hmm well I bought 4 x $50 eBay cards
The 2000 qantas points have already hit my qantas account but no status credits

Wonder if they credit them at the end of the promo period

Edit: very fine print “ Bonus Status Credits could take up to 8 weeks to be credited to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account”

  • Is the gift card 1 year expiry date ? thanks

    • +2

Expires 3 years after date of issue/activation.

    • 3 year expiry, as per consumer law…

The law requires that most gift cards or vouchers be sold with a mandatory minimum expiry period of three years. The period begins from the date a gift card is sold to a consumer. Businesses can choose to apply an expiry period longer than three years and no maximum expiry period applies.

    • the jb ones are 3 years

  • You cannot pay for these giftcards using Woolworths GC or eGC now, can you?

    • +3

No, stopped being possible around end of 2018

      • Thanks!

      • That was a sad day!

      • +1

Oh the good old days. Put so many $k's through then. Allowed us to have so many amazing travel experiences.
