      you got problem reading mate?

  • -6

they couldnt get rid of these things when on sale recently, so now they have to give them away.

plus vote because its an awesome deal for someone that actually wants one, but if you have to give away a phone for $2 (especially after its just recently been heavily pushed like this has been), then i'm thinking they are just trying to get some market statistics to say how many models they've sold during their major competitors new release.

or maybe im just getting too cynical in my old age ;).

    • No… it is a form of advertising. Everyone will talk about it. Instead of paying heaps of money to advertise on TV, this is just as cost effective and some people actually get to enjoy the phone. And, now I know Samsung has a store in Sydney CBD.

This is a fantastic phone. Only thing that prevents people getting it is the price (similiarly for iPhone 4S). Galaxy S II is currently the best selling smartphone in the US.

We should be happy Samsung is doing this. Sure, I cannot get it coz. I don't live in Sydney… but I am happy at least 100 people get a bargain from Samsung.

oh dear - prepare for catfights and people clawing each other's eyes out. Best idea is to pay a hobo $50 to get and mind ur spot, plus he'll keep the queue down with his smell.

    • +5

haha, u need to make sure he doesnt runaway with ur cash tho….maybe best to pay $50 to hobo1, and $50 to hobo2 so hobo2 can ensure hobo1 stays inline….but wait a min….u then need to pay hobo3 to check up on hobo2 &hobo1….LOL

      • +1

cash on delivery! i wouldn't pay upfront, only once goods are received. Anyways, i'd be there to conduct the purchase at 7.55am (he's just the spot minder/queuing tag team).

People beware: these things always attract queue jumpers. People who have friends show up mins, hours later trying to stand with them. Be as sharp as a hawk! .. You have to speak up otherwise they think they're getting away with it. I doubt this will happen when it comes to these phones, as there's only 10 and people usually get a lil crazy re limited supply.

        • u sound like ur serious…about getting a hobo… LOL

    • I was just thinking that a hobo should do that him/herself and keep all the profit (assuming they have $2). They're used to doing this sort of stuff after all.

      • No idea why that was thumbed down. Should tell a hobo to do it for profit hahah

  • Only 17% battery of my sensation left…..

No sign for the queue whatsoever. Just get here and line up behind me.
Oh, and Samsung people just confirmed me the phone is locked to voda. But that shouldn't be an issue, is it?
PS how do I edit my posts?

    • wonder if anyone will actually join you…

    • You can't when someone has replied to your post

    • +1

he'll be gone when his battery goes flat! someones just got to time it right to take his spot.

  • I would suggest for the guys, draining the lizard into a empty bottle and hope you don't need to do a #2 like you do when you go for a long hike with limited toilet paper. If someone gets all up in your face you also have a safe weapon to use lol!

    • +1

that is totally gross! i've seen parents doing that with their tots when queuing for stuff … it's really disgusting. as a guy wouldn't u just piss on the wall/in a corner like you usually do … lol… dont get insulted i just beez speakn da truth.

      • True, but you can get a fine for urinating in public that way

    • +3

      Jarate

  • +3

Rather than make people queue @ the break of dawn and busting to ‘go’.

I think it would be better to have a raffle of 10 tickets outside @ 8am.

This way much more people would be inclined to get involved.

Even if this were in Perth, I probably can’t do this because I can’t rock up to work looking like I’d just done the walk of shame.

  • Samsung are just taking the SGS2 and running with it! Good to see them advertising this up the wahoo :)

Also; is it for a WHITE SGS2? Seeeexxxxxy!

  • Good to know these are going for about $600…not the $849 rrp. Even $600 for $2 is a good deal :)

    • Dont forget fees of 7.9% (ebay) and 2.4% (paypal).

Most people get stung that way

  • +1

Just over at Anaconda picking up a tent, portaloo and camping stove - yee haa!

    • +1

Planning on trying to eat the camping stove?

      • na warming canned soup and provide body warmth - well as much warmth as you can get from a those butane cartridges..

  • +1

    soo tempting

  • just get 40 people to lineup outside the shop now…………..

    • -1

      liar :)
i just went there 15mins ago, only saw 4- FOUR ppl

      • about 8-10 now

  • pics? pics? I wanna see how many disappointed people there are going to be

    • +1

there wont be any…if you see there is 10 people before you…you wouldnt line up. :) simple

      • well that's not exactly exciting for samsung, then

  • so we have an update on exactly how the big the line is? i'm prob gunna start lining up after work today and camping it for the night…but i have a sneaking suspicion that even then they'll be 10+ people for tomorrow morning's 'handout'

  • -1

i rekon the staffs who work there will get them before anyone can -_-

  • +12

If Samsung wants better advertisement result, they should amend their promotion as follows:
    the 11th will pay $4,
    the 12th $8,
    the 13th $16,
    the 14th $32,
    the 15th $64,
    the 16th $128,
    the 17th $256,
    the 18th $512.
    19th - 29th $100 free voucher,
    30th - 49th $70 free voucher,
    50th - 99th $50 free voucher.
I think the queue in front of the shop will be much much longer.
Also OzBargainers will gather there have a 4 night continued party.

    • +1

That is a great idea. You should be head of marketing for Samsung.

  • -8

PLEASE SOMEONE TELL the news people! SMH or 7 news or something!

    • +3

Why? Its bad enough that its all over OzB and Gizmodo, further reducing your chances of getting one of the 10 tomorrow, so why would you want to advertise it more?

  • +1

    4 in line already

  • +1

why tell the news for? bargainers FTW!!!!

  • +2

    LIVE UPDATES: 12:47 - 4 people in line. 3 fellow ozBargainers :)

I'm out of the game, by the time I leave work it'll be a massive line

    • call in sick? or take time in lieu?

  • you could be waiting 12 hrs for a free coffee lol … yeh a bit stupid when you know it's 10 people. it's kinda obvious when it's 10 and i doubt anyone would quit the queue at any stage. Once you're there, you're pretty committed.

  • +5

Sounds like fun knowing there will be 10 only.

    • make new temporary friends that have something in common (tightarse and dedicated to save $$$)
    • organise group buys for food (1 person goes on the food run for lunch, another for dinner)
    • save spots while someone goes on a dunny run
    • tomorrow morning you are all WINNING!

Just have to trust those in front I suppose.

Tip: if you are in line, take a photo of where you are in the queue in case of attempted queue jumpers :)

    • +1

The 10 queue sitters will need to get along like family and help each other out if they want to last till the giveaway.

  • Thinking of lining up on thursday after work :/

    • +1

too late, my advice is pay a homeless guy $50 bucks to sit there for you….rock up at 8am……swap positions with him. He will get $50 in the morning when you arrive :)

      • so…he'll take $50 and give you a $850 phone?

        • Just tell him the phone is only worth $150.

      • im sure the other people in the queue will be open to people swapping ;).

    • +1

That's the Galaxy S mate, not the GSII.

    • +1

      S1 vs S2 …. not the same

      • My bad!

    • .

      • -1

        LOL what a noob!

        • +1

says someone with 2 posts and 26 posts to their name :).

          (i didnt neg you btw)

    • reminds me of the simpson ep where he lines up for days,

"why not just use the money you would have been paid from work to buy it from a skelper!" (or at RRP)

or go do some casual work at 20 bux an hour, 25 hours you could quickly buy the phone mowing laws for that old creepy guy down the road… better than waiting for 24 hours in a line! if there is already people waiting now, i rekon its only going to get longer and wait time is greater…

pretty stoked we got a work deal with telstra, after salary sacrificing it around 149 bux! or the sensation for around 200 bux.

wonder if they will have to hire a security guard.

  • +1

good deal on its own regard, but that's only if ur time is worth less than that….

    • It is a terrific way to waste 12 hours queuing if you are unemployed, homeless, etc.

      • Or make less than $50 an hour.

  • Can we bring a camping chair and sleeping bag to use while we wait? or would store staff tell us to put them away and not use them?

    • +1

Wouldn't the police break your party?

  • UPDATE on the phone:
I've just been to the Samsung "POP UP Shop" and got the confirmation on the phone.
    It is locked to Vodafone.
To unlock $75 on prepaid or free on any 12-24 month contract.

    • that makes things interesting.

so its basically like going to vodafone and saying, can I have a 24 month contract, and they'll chuck in the phone for free.

Does rooting (no pun intended) the phone remove the unlock on it?

      • There is APP for that lolz.. it's called Galaxy S2 SIM Unlock (Download from Android Market)
I just hope that the interstate people gets their money's worth when they fly over for these bad boyz..

    • +1

If it's locked to voda then they are clearly breaching their own T&C's.

      1. The Promotional Product is a mobile phone handset only. Eligible Customers
will be responsible for making all arrangements for connection with a service
provider and payment of all associated connection, access and call charges.
      • Not really - Vodafone is a service provider, so you make your own arrangements with them. If you can't its your problem…

And the cost of unlocking to use another provider is also your expense… The terms do not explicitly state that its available to ALL providers without some expense, unlocking being one of those…

BTW Turd voting down the others comments will eventually delete the comment, so no one will know what your response means

        • ahh ok.
Sounds a bit miss-leading though. I thought it was a new phone unlocked.

Ah well I guess this will make things better for people who want it.

Who'd want to join Vodafail.. Though $75 + $2 for the fone for unlocked it just ok I suppose.

      • It is locked to Vodafail. Its $2 and you walk out of the store with a voda locked SGS2, no need to buy a plan then and there.

    • nice try at trying to detur people but the T&C's on the other page are different :P

  • +6

If this was an Apple Promotion whats the bet most above would just say - Stupid Apple Fanboys… ROFL

    • +2

If this was an Apple Promotion

      In some parallel universe maybe

    • but its not apple, its samsang!!! so how could they be stupid?! :P

also they would be lining up to pay RRP! :P

by the way its spelt fanboi!

      • +6

…by the way, it's spelt SAMSUNG.

        • +1

          haha, stupid fanboi…(myself)

    • yes, they should have had a line up competition with apple on the 4S launch day, this promo = $30k value ($600x10x5)
Instead, have the phone available for $150-200, and have 500 people line up, probably more than the apple line?

When the TV crew shows up to do their obligatory, iphone launch day madness, they'll see the samsung line is actually longer?

    • +1

It isn't exactly in Apple's genes to do this kind of promotion. Besides, if they want to do a PR stunt, all they have to do is to leave a prototype sitting in a bar somewhere in New York and let a certain journalist pick it up…

  • wow this is on ozbargain?? got one 4.5hrs ago :]

    • you were in the first line?

    • delete

    • +6

Receipt or it didnt happen :p

  • +3

Lol I just walked past and saw all the ozbargainers in line…

    • +2

      Pics!

    • +1

Lol, how many ppl lining up right now?

  • even if it comes locked, you can just root it and unlock it.

  • could we have an update on the queue size please?

    • i think someone mentioned 4 last time i checked…could be 10 by now…who knows… :(

  • Can this clause be taken to mean that you have to line up on the day, i.e. 00.01 say on 11/10/2011 and not before;.?

To be eligible, individuals must be one of the first ten (10) customers to line up
at the designated position, marked by a sign, at the front of the Samsung
GALAXY S II Pop Up Shop located at 379-381 George Street, Sydney, NSW
2000 (“Pop Up Shop”) on each day of the Promotional Period (“Eligible
    Customer”).

    • no, because you'll still be lining on the next day, just because you've been lining up from the day before doesnt mean your still not lined up "each day"

  • Guys, I am the tenth person! No more spots

    • So, what are you going to do for lunch, dinner and toilet breaks?

      • +5

He's having caviar and lobster smothered in a truffle jus.

    • lol congrats. … have fun for the next 19 hours? if that is what your time is worth to you then by all means :)

    • +1

      PICS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN!
