I find eBay so annoying. Dodgy adverts for promotions that are more like lotteries, an archaic interface, spam emails a go-go.. not to mention the eBay plus fee which is so not worth it compared to amazon or other subscriptions.

    • +1

Yep they’re searching via store is so useless. Who’s running these guys?

      • Ah yes I forgot that lol. You just can’t make your own search you are forced to see whatever they want you to see
And what about the constant price jacking? LOL

    • +6

OzB should ban eBay sales until they prevent pricejacking. There's no actual deals.

  • Darn i miss 20% off ones now on specific ones.

    • +10

eBay deals are dead in OzBargain.

      • +1

They have really dropped off haven't they.

  • +8

Am I the only one who misses the simpler days of 20% off Computer Alliance on eBay with free shipping? Sure there were some concerns over Jack, but there was also plenty of resources available (eg Google Sheets) to help us make informed decisions.

    • +3

eBay Plus killed the good old days sales.

      • Come to think of it, I miss the original blanket discounts on everything (not just eligible items). I feel like I wasted those opportunities in hindsight :(

        • RIP 18% off everything 😢

  • +6

Tried with many watched plus items, nothing.

    Pointless.

    • +1

Yep, same here. Ten different items from ten different stores and nothing. I wouldn't be so bothered if I hadn't just wasted five mins that I'll never get back. Think of all of the things I could have done in five mins!

      • +1

At least you're warning other ozbargainers not to waste their time. So your time is not completely wasted!?

  • +1

Quick look seems Jack or John West rejected items are the only ones in play !

  • +1

    Go crazy finding eligible items!

  • Monitor I've been eyeing off for a couple of weeks has been jacked so it's more expensive than it was before this sale despite 10% off. Typical. Obviously not deterred by this Kogan ruling https://www.zdnet.com/article/federal-court-rules-kogan-onli…

    • Kogan's response to the ACCC decision was typical of them.

      https://www.asx.com.au/asxpdf/20200717/pdf/44km7q9yh9l6n5.pd…
      ]

      • Meh fairly typical of most messages drafted by comms professionals for any organisation/public figure to be honest. Its an ASX release so first point to make is there's no impact on financials to keep the share price impact minimal, then the rest is just an opportunity to reemphasise your market positioning and branding.

        • Except that second paragraph was carefully worded deceit.

I hope the fine this time takes into account past transgressions.

      • how much was Kogan fined this time?

Waiting for someone to suggest what the P in POFF10 stands for, considering the number of people p—- off already ;-)
P.S. Good deals exist, a good price on the top of the range Macbook Pro 16" i9 1TB/16GB, 2.3GHz SPACE GREY MVVK2X/A $3689.10. That's lower than previous deals posted on OB. One left so not enough for me to post a new deal.

    • +2

Great. Seller Ausluck must be on OB and saw my comment because they have just jacked the ad price to Apple RRP, which makes no sense because these promotions don't involve sellers contributing extra. I am taking back my previous comment. You can get lower price with OW price beat Mediaform.

        RipOFF10

  • +15

Wow, an eBay sale - for paying subscribers only, it's a measly 10%, and it's only on 'eligible items' bugger all.

    • +3

Even the things I don't want or would never buy, are not on sale!

    • 'eligible items' means items they've jacked the price on so that no real discount applies.

  • +1

Trying to get a discount for the so popular Zzz atelier since 2 months now, no luck
Looks like I will go to Zeinus

    • +1

Ditto on looking for discount for it.

What is Zeinus? How is this comparable to zzz Atelier?

      • Its Zinus, sorry, they claim to be better…not sure though

  • +3

Rather than giving eBay free marketing/publicity, perhaps eBay orientated mentions should be placed into their own forum category?

  • Should ban all ebay "deals"

  • +1

No offence, but how is this different from 10% / 20% sales item is departmental store?

    • +1

A department store will get into deep shit if they jack up the prices before the sale. eBay sellers do not.

eBay sales aren't sales, there's little to no discount on anything because the sellers just put the prices up.

    • +1

In a department store there might actually be a good deal or two. Guaranteed to be nothing in an eBay plus sale like this.

  • +1

Don't think I've used ebay plus for at least 6 months

  • +1

There's another 5% off eligible items promotion but seeing the reaction here for 10%, it may not worth posting up :-p
    For those interested: https://pages.ebay.com.au/Buyer_coupons/p5offme/

  • They'd better be coming up with good promotion for click frenzy !

  • +1

After being an Ebay member for near 17 years I think I am done with them

Excessive fees, price jacking, changing listings to accept offers with no permission, taking away the ability to leave negative feedback on buyers.

It used to be good, but not anymore.

  • "Eligible items only"

  • Any knife deals?

    • +1

I have no idea, besides being stabbed in the back by eBay after you sign up for ebay plus.

    • If you click the link and typing "knife" into the search bar you might be able to find out

  • Was watching the price on a monitor and they've price jacked it by 10%. What a joke.

  • +2

Nobody read this as "Pee Often"? Surely I'm not the only immature one here.

    • +1

Damn! What have you done? I can’t unsee.

Btw, great deal for undiagnosed diabetics.

  • Who ever heard of a boast office?

  • +1

Just looking at hard drives (as I do) and noticed that even with the 10% off from various stores (Futu, Computer_Alliance, Shopping Express), they're still quite a bit more expensive than even the Amazon AU listings (eg Seagate Ironwolf 8TB sold by Technology Titans fulfilled by Amazon is $336.59 delivered).
