Knife Set 6 Piece w/block, 60% off to $119 down from $300. I am unsure of the quality but the amazon reviews have been very good and I checked out a set in-store a few months ago.

They feel like great quality.

There not bad, I wouldn't compare them to the likes of Shun.

I have these and would not recommend them. They do not hold their edges well and the blades are quite thick, which makes sharpening difficult. I much prefer my $7 kiwi knife. Lots of people buy knife block sets but would be better off buying fewer knives individually

  • I got these last year for $75 from royal doulton.
I like them, versatile enough for a home cook like me. Does need to buy an addition cleaver.

    • Best thing about them (apart from the scalloped Santoku knife) appears to be the funky knife block they come with.

Can the storage block accommodate extra knives, such as the cleaver?

I did manage to shove a cleaver into it

Also purchased two years ago for around this price. In comparison to my other chef knives, they work reasonably well. Of course, cannot expect them to hold their edge, nor arrive as sharp, as other brands, but the utility and aesthetic are great, in addition to being well-weighted. Bonus: the bread knife is absolutely fantastic and the best one I have used.

  • Anyone know what Rockwell rating the steel is? The absence of any spec anywhere online makes me skeptical about their durability.

It would also be nice to know what angle the edges are sharpened at, so as to know whether a Global Minosharp or any other consumer sharpener could be used to bring them back to, or improve upon, their factory edge…

Based on the infomation on their website, it is 3CR13 stainless steel. I do a google search,

      HRC: 48-53 (Quenching and tempering)

      • Oh dear.

That is way too soft for a reliable knife edge.

Great find, though - thanks for the info.

I refuse to buy product with promotional name on it as it could have been cheaper without.
