  This, this and this were better deals if you were looking for a Core i7 gaming laptop.

  GPU is a bit low end on this one.

    You're comparing 14" & 15.6" notebooks with a 1366x768 res with this 17.3" 1600x900 res computer… not really fair. I agree it's not the best for gaming, but it's OK for gaming and is a good desktop replacement.

  hp = crap
  had one graphics card died in 1yr so did my friends

  Toshiba or Asus :)

  though the deal isn't too bad if you were only looking for a basic laptop for multimedia and such, gaming i wouldn't

  My last DV7 suffered from GPU separation, basicly due to heat and flex the GPU separated from the motherboard, It was a common problem I had to wait months for a replacement.

  I would definitely not recommend HP's laptop and wont touch HP's laptop anymore. My friends and I bought Hp laptop 1 years before, and guess what, after 1 years, they are all dead. Just 1month over the warranty, and I didnt use my 1gb graphic card to do tough jobs, it just blured and not display. A week later, even the intel HD didnt work.

  When I did a temperature test on my dv6-3000, it was 82 right after 10 mins of the boost. I think it must be the design problem, but when I turned to my another friend who bought a hp 2 years ago, exact same problem, laptop died exact over 1 year warranty. So, what can I say…..

  Anyway, think twice before you made your decision. some reviews would be helpful. pay more attention to the heating problem, check the ventilation design carefully. I have a cheap Chinese brand laptop called 'Shenzhou' bought 5 years ago, the bottom is damn hot, but never got problem. I can still use it although it is a little bit slow for Win 7. My point is how it comes that HP got such problems?

    i work for hp (software not hardware) and all of us are issued with hp laptops.

    although i dont have a top end gaming machine or anything, just average work spec i guess.. i find them pretty solid and havent had any troubles. just my 2 cents.
