170

Was looking into an cheap way to get Optus Sport and renew my phone plan at the same time so came upon the following:

Optus $180 Sim Starter Kit for $150, which includes 100GB data, unlimited standard talk and SMS over 365 days. Works out to be $12.50 per month.

Add-on Optus Sport for $5 per 28 days (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/510843) which works out to be about $17.93 per month. Note there is a risk that Optus Sport may increase it's $5 p.m. rate for prepaid customers in future, and you can only lock in the $5 add-on for 3 months in advance.

No wifi calling on optus prepaid for those with bad reception . Boost on the other hand has wifi calling on prepaid

    • What do you mean??? Wifi calling depends on the phone not the sim company

      • I agree with salrock, depends on company

        • Didn't knew that im with boost didn't see this wifi calling in my kogan like 2years back so i thought it was like a new tech that came with my new phone but didn't knew thanks for enlightening

          • @USER DC: Most new or even cheap phones like Samsung A20 these days supports wifi calling but its not enabled by the service providers on prepiad except telstra or boost . Vodaphone and optus does not support wifi calling on prepiad .

            • @salrock: exactly why boost does cause everything is Telstra without price tag and different brand

  • If you buy a $30 SIM currently in promotion for $10 (ends tomorrow I think), you'll get a $20 voucher. So end up spend $140 for $30 SIM + $150 SIM

    • Doesn't work.

  • 100GB DATA on first recharge
    60GB standard from 2nd recharge.

    • What does it mean? Do we get 100GB on sim activation and another 60GB for recharging at least $5 before 365-day expiry date?

  • Can this be used as a recharge?

    • Nope it's a starter kit

  • Does anyone know if you can access Optus's 5G network with this plan?

    • Can you port out and then activate this
