  • Is this a bargain at $23.2? I am puzzled rather than skeptical

    • with 2 x USB ports that I need, I think this price is acceptable ;)

Better value with the Arlec from Bunnings for $15.99 if you only need 1x USB.

Also flashable to Tasmota with Tuya Convert.

I tried these - great plug, but because of their width, you are unable to use the adjoining plug on most standard power boards

Like that on many brands of these smart plugs, unfortunately.

Only one I've tried to date with a slim profile that doesn't overly impede socket next to it is some generic Bauhn ones from Aldi (also with two USB charging ports).

Problem with the Aldi ones though, is that if I have too many devices attached to that socket e.g. lounge room entertainment system, when the timer auto turns off, it trips the circuit breaker on my older meter box outside.

Arlec plug above, has been rock solid for the same use though.

        YMMV.

    • Just a warning, some people have reported that the arlec plugs that have the newer firmware having issue flashing using tuya-convert. But worst case you can just return it.

      • Yep, have heard their latest 4 plug smart powerboard (without individual switch control) can't be flashed and so probably has newer firmware.

Suspect same will happen as newer stock of the plugs rolls out.

Even more reason to get the old stock of the plugs while you can ;-).

      • Late followup, but thought I'd buy a few more of the Arlec plugs while at Bunnings and can't get Tuya-convert to work on any of them.

Must be part of the new batch with updated firmware.

Had a quick search online for "Tuya-convert" and "new firmware", but can't find any quick fix for this.

Such a shame, if you are running a Tasmota ecosystem, as these were a great little addition.

At least with Bunnings, very easy to return for refund.

  • I got the kogan smart plugs and they are great. Not too big in size so you can fit more on power boards.

  • In theory should work with the smart life app as its likely a rebounded tuya device. Probably control options.

  • Energy Monitoring?

  • I think the Kmart version is better as you can get a double plug and a double usb:

    Energy monitoring (but no USB)
