Make it so on 06/12/2011 - 16:11 ¶Can anyone advise on how the cheapest way to get a Kinect with it? Are any Kinect bundles on special anywhere?

Xbox 360 4GB with Kinect & Kinect Adventures $278 from JB Hi-Fi:
+4 votesTrance N Dance on 06/12/2011 - 16:41 ¶Make that $228, Microsoft are currently having a $50 cashback offer for kinect bundles.
edit: Just read below.
+4 votesA better deal for those that just want the 360 only and not the kinect is to buy the Kinect package for $278, get the $50 back from MS, then sell it on eBay, one about to end in 52mins and its already at $147…average seems to be $150ish mark, minus fleabay fees say down to $130ish I guess in the hand. Basically you get a 4 GIG console for $98

Thanks for giving me credit kirt, that's nice :)
General question now about the Kinect bundle though … the deal you linked above (and the posters above are referring to) has expired… is there anything close to this deal now?
There's no really cheap bundle that I can find with a Kinect included. You could buy two $158 consoles for less than most of the bundles!!
+1 voteCan still be bought: http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/game/consoles/xbox-360-4gb-ki...
You'll need to buy it on or after the 8th though to be eligible for the $50 cash back offer.

Buy This http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/game/consoles/xbox-360-4gb-ki...
Then use this http://www.kinectoffer.com.au/
Makes the Kinect Aprox $60ish
(Note the Kinect offer has not started yet tho)
+2 votesThanks .kram and brent3000 :)
I browsed JB's bundle deals but missed the "plain" 4GB Kinect pack.I'm still stuck deciding between the standalone 4GB console and the bundles. Trying to work out what my brother would actually use versus getting the best deal but wasting money on unused extras. I'm all about the bargain, it's hard being practical!
$158 4GB console (HN)
$228 4GB console with Kinect (JB, after $50 cash back)
$228 250GB console (4GB HN + ebay 250GB HDD)
$298 250GB console with kinect (JB + ebay HDD)- and none of these include real games, so there's a few more $$
aboutconfig on 07/12/2011 - 18:57 ¶$228 4GB console with Kinect (JB, after $50 cash back)???
But the price now on jb site is $338,
http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/game/consoles/xbox-360-4gb-ki...So they've increased the retail price by $60 after they know there will be $50 cashback?

Target catalogue http://target.dynamiccatalogue.com.au/portal?lsm has the kinect for $319

+8 votesActually this could make things interesting too, in particular with that JB deal for $278 if it is still available on Thursday…would make it $228 including the Kinect:
"Buy an Xbox 360 4GB Console with Kinect or Xbox 360 250GB Console with Kinect from any Australian retailer between 08.12.2011 and 24.12.2011 and receive $50 cash-back"

+3 votescuongizzle on 06/12/2011 - 16:45 ¶pretty sure HN has a price protection for 30 days.
Wont hurt to ask.
+1 voteOfficial, you are going to pay over $120. You can get a third party 250GB HDD for less than that. And if you were to take my word, believe me that there is nothing wrong with using a third party HDD with your console. I have used an unofficial 120GB HDD with my arcade console for over 18 months.
GerrardLFC on 06/12/2011 - 18:05 ¶Can I just install a hard drive my self or have to get a XBOX one?

Always check feedback before deciding on a purchase. I think I am going to go with one of these two for my HDD. Dirt cheap.
+1 voteTrance N Dance on 06/12/2011 - 17:56 ¶Probably won't see any (considering I just said this means there's bound to be one soon…)
There are rumours that there's a new Xbox coming out in the new year, this could just be the usual firesale to clear stock before the new one comes around… either that or Microsoft is really in the shitters…

Yes I use my FAT 360 Elite for a media Player, Plays Avi's fine from USB or streaming.
Also - http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100413121045AA...

Only via Windows Media Center / 360 extender from what I know:
http://markknijnenburg.blogspot.com/2011/01/windows-7-media-...
+1 votePS3 Media Server will also transcode over network, despite it's namesake.

I'm sorry but are you confusing today for Thursday? The latest I have come across is Broadway [NSW] and that closed at 7:00 PM.
Not saying there won't be an open store, but perhaps if you specified which state, it may help those who want to grab their console tonight.
+2 votesjackthefrost on 06/12/2011 - 17:41 ¶Cheaper than the US. Now that's a bargain. About time too.
Just got myself one, will probably get yelled at but can't pass this up..
+2 votes@GerrardLFC - you can install the 'fat' Xbox 360 HDD to the slim console, but it does take a little tampering to get it right.
Not sure what OzBargain's thing is about such things, but if you were to YouTube 'xbox 360 fat hdd slim', you will find tutorials on how to get it done.
@kirt - TVersity + a codec pack will allow you to stream .mkv files to your Xbox 360, from your PC. I prefer this only because WMC was a bit of a pain to get working.

Follow the guide here;
http://digiex.net/guides-reviews/console-guides/xbox-360-gui...Totally legit-ish, and alot cheaper… depending on the Thailand situation.
+1 voteI don't wish to take anything away from OzBargain, but keep a bookmark on EcoGamer. You can find some games at some amazing prices posted there.
Play-Asia is a great site for games. Just keep a close eye on the region compatibility guide, as you may know, only PAL games will work in Australia. There are those which are region free, which is what the compatibility guide will assist you with.

blackrider89 on 06/12/2011 - 18:19 ¶I ordered 1 from JB Hifi yesterday so missed the cashback. Anyone knows how to cancel an order if it has not been dispatched?
blackrider89 on 06/12/2011 - 19:45 ¶Could I do so? Thanks anyway mate.
P/S: I bought it online though.

You can just send an email to order-cancel@jbhifionline.com.au with your order number. Be quick though, it has to be done before JB dispatch it.
blackrider89 on 07/12/2011 - 10:04 ¶Thanks heaps. I had already done it before you mention it though. Anyway thank a million you guys. Just wait until 12.01am tonite lol.
+2 votesYes. MW3 will work fine with the 4GB internal storage. Worst case scenario, you could configure a 4/8/16GB USB device and use that to store content, perhaps as a temporary thing.
As for Foxtel, it should be fine. You're only downloading the app. Everything else is done online.

Great Deal for xBox. I think Microsoft is quite serious about xBox live now. Not only they started Foxtel on it last year, but are also planning to go deep in it with more apps. So it will not be a gaming thing anymore. May be sell the console cheap for getting more margins in xbox live accounts or games.

Third_Gear on 06/12/2011 - 19:23 ¶Upgrade your graphics card in your pc - games look better on pc. 360/ps3 is so old now…. the hardware that is. Heaps of restrictions on what can put into a game as every game that comes out has to work on such old hardware.
Still a great deal even if you just use it as a media center.
