This is a great film! Just to note it is also available to watch for free with Prime Video – that is itself free with Amazon Prime.

Haven't seen the film, but I'd argue they're not mutually exclusive qualities.

No more disturbing than anyone who spends all their time commenting on OzBargain posts.

This is not a forum for confession and self-healing…

That's how the movie started and look what happened…

@jv: lucky i didn't make it to end, stopped watching half way - BORING

@botchie: I slept on this one until just last week on Prime. It's such a great film. I basically give any superhero movie a quick pass because I can't put myself through superficial cringe, but this one surprised the hell out of me. Logan's the other that got me semi interested but ultimately bored because it still follows the predictable formula and the characters just weren't quite believable, but Todd and Joaquin deserve big props here. The only superhero film I'd recommend.

                @muwu:

The only superhero film I'd recommend.

I definitely wouldn’t call this a superhero film. I’d say it’s a straight up drama.

              • @muwu: Avengers was ok. I got dragged along and ended up enjoying it

Thought it was a Disney RomCom

The ending was brilliant. The best part.

      • Why so serious?

      • You must be the rotten by-product of a failed welfare system.

      • Did you want him to turn sane at the end or nutter?

        • -3

Did you want him to turn sane at the end

          of course…

      • Not sure if trolling or serious

Won’t somebody please think of the children!

      • Not disturbing just shite

  • +6

Nice. We live in a society.

Went in with low expectations, walked away amazed how a movie with no fancy visual affects and actions scenes was so powerful!.

  • +17

I think the acting was the real shinning star by Joaquin Phoenix.. the story line was kinda pretty meh. Bit over hyped imo.

    • +4

Pretty much this. The movie wasn't that great really but that performance was fantastic!

    • Yep agreed, acting was great, so was cinematography but the story… fell asleep half way through and not looking to revisit.

      Some love it some don't.

      • Oh no nobody likes me better kill everyone now

  • +2

This was a better joker performance https://youtu.be/sPpWzS3nCwM

    • I was hoping your link was gonna be that

I liked the Movie , but it instantly reminded me of the King Of Comedy by Martin Scorsese.

  • +11

I am not a fan of this Joker at all.

Yes I understand he won an Oscar for it but I felt the performance was filled with cringeworthy laughing and awkwardness.

I am not a fan of this Joker at all.

Cesar Romero was by far the best…

I agree , both performances of the joker were great. Heath Ledger and Joanquin Phoenix

Joanquin Phoenix portrayed the Joker more on an individual level as someone with deep seated mental health issues and you basically slowly see him transition from a troubled individual to a true psychopath towards the climax , even though the movie is slow you build up a true sense of why the character is who he is.

Heath Ledger portrayed the Joker as a true villain that just wanted to watch the world burn and he was portrayed excellently with all the little dark jokes that made the delivery almost too perfect. notable scenes where he blew up the hospital and the detonator isn't responding but he keeps going and you get a bonus joke out of a technical on-set accident, or where he tries to take a sip of champagne from an empty glass and his quick wit in response to batman where he tells joker to let Rachel go and responds with "very poor choice of words laughs manically "

2 different scripts , 2 different outcomes but i genuinely enjoyed Heath Ledgers portrayal of the joker in comparison to Joanquin Phoenix , both actors are extremely talented however.

    • movies like this and revenant win awards purely because of the shock factor.

no one has the attention span for good story telling and acting anymore which is a shame

  • +2

For people who already have amazon prime, this movie is included in prime video

    • Prime does not have that sound quality along with video. If you have big home screen, it will be worth buying. Not a big fan of the movie though.

  • +2

I believe this was given a full 4k digital rather than an upscale for people who care about such things.

  • -4

Worst "joker" movie I've ever seen. Especially the talk show scene towards the end. You couldn't get me to own this movie, even if it were free.

    • +3

      Thanks for letting us know

    • +2

yes I agree.. there is nothing Joker about him … the movie is just about a crazy guy … and fyi I'm a big DC fan !

    • +2

      Ok Murray

    • +1

Agreed. It was a terrible movie. I get it's different to regular comicbook movies, it's dark and edgy but it just wasn't a good movie.

      • +3

When I was at the cinema, I was constantly thinking where I am. Half way through the movie a couple in front just got up and left.

  • I believe this is $9.99 on iTunes if you are looking for a digital only 4K version. You will need an Apple TV or a PS5 / X Box X to see it in 4K though (assuming you have a 4K TV :)

    • Xbox one x is compatible to support 4k UHD

      • I meant Apple TV app that is available for PS5. Not sure it is available on X Box X too.

Found this movie super boring also. Gotta give credit to them for making the movie so damn long without much happening at all.

    • What was worse this or Birdman?

      • I haven't watched Birdman so can't comment.

  • Nothing special about this movie, just a bored loser looking down at society instead of improving himself to be a better man.

  • Decent movie, i wouldn’t pay this much on this one though. it’s also free on amazon prime.

  • +5

boring movie, not enough transformers doing flips and slam dunking basketballs. 0/5

  • Back in stock, got one. Boring movie but ok for $13

  • oh lord please don't let me be misunderstood…

  • Great movie, very surprised by all the negs on here.

Loved the performance by Joaquin and how the movie handled themes of mental health and how society deals /doesn’t deal with this issue.

Too many people expecting Batman or a happy ending.

    $13 well spent.

  • In my opinion the joker is the easiest role any medium quality actor can play. And still we all fall for it.

    • Look out guys I'm crazy!!!!!1

    • jared leto hurt us though

  • To all the people that went and got the deal and beat everyone else to it… I hope you get what YOU F#&KING DESERVE!

  • “I never heard him cry. He was always such a happy little boy.”
