Can someone explain what the 5ms (normal) and 1ms (extreme) means?

    • Hi, I dont have this model but the S2721D model and I assume they would have similar setups.
So I noticed on my monitor there is a setting in the menu to change the response time between normal - fast (I think its called this) and extreme. So you can adjust this setting.

    • Response time represents the delay in displaying the actions you performed on the monitor.

5ms means there's a 5 millisecond delay in moving your mouse to having the mouse movement being reflected on the monitor.

This normally doesn't bother anybody, but almost exclusively professional gamers. Or those that would consider themselves to be a professional gamer.

Does beg the question, why would you ever have it at just "fast"?

        • My guess would be that, if this monitor has some energy rating attached to it and it reached a particular benchmark maybe setting it to Fast or Extreme will consume too much energy leaving the monitor not meeting certain benchmarks hence they leave default as 5ms?

          Just a guess.

  • Just go to Officeworks and grab the Philips IPS for $138

Price shows up as US$138. Wonder if this is an error.

    • Is the phillips one adjustable height?

      • No, it's not night adjustable. Just tilts up and down.

    • Thanks OP bought 1 Philips now.

  • How does the TN panel holdup?

    • Colour accuracy is not as good, so editing, media consumption, and gaming may not be ideal

      • Do you reckon if you put two side by side to do office work (word, excel, etc), would it be OK?

        • +1

That would be absolutely fine, I mean if your not editing photos or anything this would suffice.

          • @RobBoss: Cheers mate. I thought it would be, but your comment I responded to made it sound like you know your stuff :)

            • +2

@tomsco: No worries, TN panels are not that bad, but watch for colour accuracy and viewing angle, if the Philips IPS is $138 AUD as posted by Juiciness, I would suggest that.

              • @RobBoss: Thanks OP. Bought philips one.

  • The Dell page states this is an IPS monitor.

What are the chances that the ebay listing is wrong?

    • en-uk?

    • Both this listing (and the other .pl link) are showing 1x HDMI & 1xVGA
The ebay listing is showing 2x HDMI & 1x VGA. So there are differences, I would believe what's mentioned in the ebay listing.
(the listing is also created by Official-Dell-Australia-Store - so if you want to be 100% sure, you could send them a message).

    • That is the SE2426H not SE2416HG.
HG is TN model based on specs of SE2417HG.

  • Work won't replace my 8 year old monitor that is blurry. Time to get one of these to replace it myself!

If you're looking for an IPS alternative, the S2421H is currently on sale at the Dell AU site for $167.30. Only issue is the stand is not height-adjustable.
