thx. seems to be a better deal than the TCL 10 Pro deal

  • 6GB RAM

This is a good phone for seniors parents, big battery with big screen.

    • This has very impressive battery life, far surpasses other phones with 5,000mAh battery.

    • way overpowered, grandpa gets a redmi note 9

  • +1

    can pricebeat at OW too

    • Doh, should have read the comments before going out and buying it! Silly me.

    • +2

Not anymore. Ow have matched now.

      • yeah, i saw that below, but i went first thing at just after 9 in the morning, i dont think they had priced matched by that stage.

  • This phone would be an absolute beast if it wasn't for that stupidly big screen. I even find my pixel 4a to bee to big sometimes. Great specs on this though

    • Plenty of smaller phones with similar specs and price.

I have a Mi Max 3 and don't think I could go much smaller.

Bought this phone for my partner earlier this year. It is fantastic for the price and battery life is insane. Got 4 days moderate use on first cycle.

  • Ok price. Not as good as the Vivo deals posted earlier.

    • Which one?

  • +2

I'm tossing up with this or Samsung A52. Currently on Moto G7 which has held up well and met my needs last 2 years.

Recently bought a new phone and was tossing up between this and an oppo a91. Ended up going with the a91 because I felt the screen and camera were better but at this price definitely would have gone with the g9 plus!

  • Was 280 during last year boxing day sale.

This model is now going for $319 at Officeworks.

  • Is this a good phone for general use as an adult or is it more aimed at seniors and the like?
I currently have a Samsung S9 and feel like I wasted my money as I barely use half of its processing power.

If I bought a phone like this would I regret it shortly due to being used to a more powerful brand?

I think it would be good for general use as an adult.

I'm late-20s and currently using a Moto G6 Plus. Had another Moto G Plus phone before that too (which I destroyed whilst travelling) so I've been using them for around 5 years now. I previously had a Galaxy Note and also felt like I wasted my money even though having a stylus was fun. I've also bought cheaper phones around the $150-$200 mark and found that they couldn't keep up so a mid-range phone (on discount) seems to meet my needs.

I've enjoyed using my G6 Plus and it still works fine. Can be a bit "slow" or laggy sometimes but I've had it for over 2 years and frequently have a few dozen Chrome tabs open too. I use it mostly for browsing, reading, watching videos on youtube/netflix, music, emails, some social media, range of Google apps. The phone is "average" but I haven't found it lacking in my day-to-day life. Battery still lasts the entire day if I have it on low-med brightness. Data and Bluetooth are also on most of the time for me too.

If I needed to replace my G6 Plus I would 100% buy the G9 Plus at this price, even though I want a smaller and lighter phone. It's hit that sweet spot between price and being a reliable phone, and I fing the gestures (especially karate chop twice for torch) are really useful.

I hope you don't regret it if you buy it but think about how it's a $320 phone. My friends have $1500 iphones and we use them for pretty much the same things. The quality of my photos aren't as great on my phone but that's about the only place where I've felt like I'm missing out. I'd rather put that $1000 towards food or a holiday but that's just how I choose to spend my money. Worst case scenario, you can get another phone and keep this one around as a spare/backup?

Thanks so much that was an awesome reply.
I don't care much about camera quality to be honest, and I have found that my S9 gets laggy at times anyway. The main reason I'm thinking of buying a new phone is because the battery is basically shot to bits and it barely lasts 3/4 of a day anymore so I really can't see where my extra 500-1000 dollars went over one of these other phones. I have never played a game on it and the most processing it ever does is watching youtube videos.

Thanks for your advice, I totally agree that it's worth the punt and if I do regret I can always but a more expensive phone and keep it as a backup.

          Glad I could help!

I bought 2 units from JB for my parents yesterday evening as the USB-C ports on their current Nokia 5.1 Plus charging ports are faulty. It comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable, wall plug, basic earphones, and a basic clear case. I've ordered screen protectors online for them too. Only had time for a quick setup but it seems like a great phone for the price. Screen is very big but the phone doesn't feel too big if that makes sense.

  • The new G10 for $199 seems a decent phone for seniors or anyone that wants a no frills phone:

less ram, slower processor doubt the camera will be as good, lower res screen, less storage, but for 100 bux less, yeah, will be pretty decent still I rekon.

i still decided on the moto 9 plus though for the wife. hoping the camera is quite a bit better, (not that MP mean much these days)

      • G9+ is def the better phone no doubt, but $200 is a pretty good price point for seniors.

Hi. Does it worth spending extra $80 for a 5G version (Motorola G 5G Plus 128GB) at JBHifi?

    • Yes I bought this phone but my service dosen't have 5g with it but definetly spend the extra if your carrier has 5G.

      • +1

Thank you for your prompt response

  • I bought the G 5G for the better processor, and slightly smaller size. I tried to get Officeworks to price match, but as it was not in store they wouldn't, so bought from JB.

    Only 245.79+10.69 post.

Us version, less ram, less storage smaller battery, lower resolution screen.

6.3", Snapdragon 665, 48 MP Camera, 4000mAh Battery, Dual SIM GSM Unlocked (at&T/T-Mobile/MetroPCS/Cricket/H2O) XT2019-2 - International Version (Blue, 64 GB)

    Frequencies.

    LTE: B1 (2100), B2 (1900), B3 (1800), B4 (1700/2100), B5 (850), B7 (2600), B8 (900), B12 (lower700 abc), B17 (lower700 bc), B28 (700 APT), B66 (AWS3+4) UMTS: B1 (2100), B2 (1900), B4 (1700/2100), B5 (850), B8 (900) GSM: B2 (1900), B3 (1800), B5 (850), B8 (900)
