CHECKOUT CODE: OZMASKS

Long story short, we usually purchase locally-made, indoor farming protective screens (cloth) and masks for our agricultural customers.

During the peak of the pandemic, demand by Government for locally-made, reusable masks was a major requirement. Since then, "they" have opted to purchase cheap quality imports from overseas, and turned their backs on local suppliers.

Was the RRP the price the government was paying?

Not surprised they went for imports from overseas at that price.

Surely something as simple as this can be made for less then $18 per mask in Australia.

    • Hey Sam, would love to share the RRP to the government, however that's probably illegal. If you can recall, during the beginning of the pandemic, the cost of raw materials increased dramatically, transportation was clogged and now we still feel the pricing pressures across the board. The costs are rising rapidly and we do try and absorb as much as we can before passing on some of it to customers. We try to be as transparent as we can.

      • Can someone please tell me why this comment got so many negs?
        Just trying to understand.

        • +3

It was our fault. We originally stated that it was illegal to disclose our transactions with the government, however we lacked the depth of information required to give you the full perspective. We updated the response. Thank you for commenting though. Appreciate it!

  • Hi OP,

Your 10 pack of Navy Blue has a different price, is this an error?

    Thanks

    • +3

ow… We'll check now. must be an error! Thank you for letting us know

    • +3

      Fixed!

  • I dont get it, 5 masks cost $90 and 100 masks cost $90?

    • +2

You need to select a colour first, then the price will update.

      And damn, these masks pricey.

    • +1

Sorry… we've fixed it now. Please let us know if you find any more errors.

      • +1

I should have bought them when they were $90 for 100.

        • +3

The price changes when you apply the colour and package. It was all good. The error was on the 5 and 10 packs.

Ideally should cover from the bridge of the nose to under the chin, and have a malleable metal piece to close the gaps either side of the nose.

    What size are these?

    • +1

Good question Seb, We'll take a look now!

    • +3

      Height is 13.5cm
      Length 20.5cm

I can assure you they cover over the bridge of the nose and under the chin. The way our masks are designed we do not find that a nose wire is necessary.

      • +1

The nose wire assists in stopping the hot air blowing back up into your glasses, causing fogging.
From the image there looks to be a large gap around the nose. How do they perform with glasses?
That said - I have found I can take a nose wire from a disposable mask and thread it into the seam on re-usable masks like these.

        • +1

You are absolutely correct. Hindsight is a beautiful thing! 😢. At the time these were manufactured, there was only a handful of wired masks available. We couldn’t even get wiring at the time. Shortages everywhere.

We honestly couldn’t tell you how they perform with glasses, but we assume you’d have the same issue. Sorry 😣

Effectively every 33 people that get it, 1 will die, and that's not even taking into consideration the long term effects of Covid, re; lung scarring and breathing problems that can lead to strokes, seizures, and cardiac complications. In some countries it is showing that as much as 30% of people recovered are showing symptoms of long term health effects from it.

Especially if you don't understand the impact of vaccination programs on survivability stats and consider social media or Sky news a reliable source of information.

    • +2

Correct if you can find a doctor who bulk bills.

Not wearing a mask is also the equivalent of having 'anti-vaxer' tattooed on your head so it is very helpful.

(My apologies to those who cannot wear masks for legitimate reasons, but will unfortunately be lumped with f***wits based on first appearance.)

                    • @Dark Zeus: Hey Dark Zeus, did that work for you?

  • Hi OP. Respect that you're local and more than just some random opportunistic reseller but what is the value proposition for an $18 mask when there are so many much cheaper alternatives?

    • I bought 3x adidas masks for $15 and 1x reusable mask off amazon for $15.

the $15 mask is infinitely more comfortable to wear for long periods. Adidas masks have a stitched seam right on the nose and the elastic cuts in to your ears.

the adjustable straps on these are something both of the above lack and would go a long way to making it even mroe comfortable.

      • What Amazon one?

Another deal also has cloth reusable masks for $20/5 pack. Granted they have different material compositons, any chance of matching their prices?

    • +1

Hey Cpho, We've taken a look at the offer. It appears their 5 pack is actually $55 after the discount code? We might have it wrong, but please let us know. Our 5 pack after discount is $27 dollars + shipping. Please do let us know if we've got this wrong?

      • Thanks for looking into it and replying back. I've just checked again. Their 5-packs are $50 before discount, and $20 + $6 shipping after discount.

  • Just ordered 20x - how long will this offer be for? would like to try them out with some family before buying more.

    • +1

We are running the offer for a week, or until stock runs out. We can let you know when stock is low. We commence shipments tomorrow.

    • Hi @timetoquit,
Has your order arrived? Keen the hear the quality/comfort of it.

      • I got mine today so can chime in with first impressions. Seems like a pretty bog standard material mask, really. Decent size for my fat face which is good. Fits quite snugly, but as mentioned above, no nose wire. Adjustable loops seem comfy enough. Stitching seems pretty good, but honestly not much different to the ones nanna from down the street is making. Cant really complain at under $8 ea locally made and delivered for 5 I guess.

        • Thanks for the review mate.
I was expecting much higher quality with RRP of $90 for 5($18 each).
Got too trigger happy and bought a 10 pack in the time between my question and your reply, seeing heaps of upvotes.
          Oh well.
Let's see how I feel about my one.

        • Hey Fredorishi, you can't really beat Nanna's "home made anything right?". We do agree though concerning the nose wire. We sold out of them very early on. Let us know if there is anything else we can do to the current stock to improve them.

  • +1

Tough crowd in here but don't take it personally. Obviously everyone does their own due diligence. I am happy to support Australian business even if it costs a bit more than some overseas produced mask. I expect the quality will reflect that. Just put an order in.

    • +4

We love a tough crowd. You only have to worry if you've got something to hide. We don't hide. Every business has its challenges, strengths and weaknesses. We appreciate the support. You won't be disappointed. They are extremely comfortable. The inner layer is calico (100% Cotton) and soft on skin (low allergy). The ear loops are soft stretch material that won't cut into your ears. They also come with adjustable toggles to allow for all shapes and sizes… of your head that is :)

  • +1

A little bit of an initiation by fire here - but probably for the best. Some learnings that I hope you implement in future posts, such as including the price in the post, and being a little more upfront about some details (such as claiming Aussie made and then having to be prodded - i.e. 'if you insist' - which is a little poor, it's a fair request that should be made public from the outset). Anyway, happy to support Aussie businesses and products, have also ordered.

    • +2

Thank you so much for the feedback. We weren't sure exactly how to frame the headline for these. Would you be willing to provide an example of what you'd expect to read and we'll update it?

      • I think the headline reads fine now. As someone has noted above, the community is pretty tough, and some more than others haha. Perhaps with some of your biggest selling points, such as Aussie made (which is a big one), it might be useful to throw those details in the main body of the deal to save you having to answer so many questions.

        • +1

Perfect! Thank you. We've placed the Australian Made Licensee number in the body. Hopefully that provides readers with confidence.

      • Just read other posts on the homepage with big upvotes, most will have a good title for both users to under (hence the upvotes) and for retailers to attract views (hence the large amount of upvotes).

        • Thank you for the constructive feedback. We'll make sure we add the same format as our previous offer.

  • was looking to buy some a combination of green & blue but it appears that the shipping charges increase by $10 for every item added?
    eg. 5 pack green + 5 pack blue = $20 shipping
    3 x 5 pack blue = $30 shipping
    50 pack blue = $10 shipping

was it intended to charge shipping for each pack in the order or are they sent out separately? thanks

    • No! It shouldn’t. We’ll take a look in the backend now and see what we can do! Hang tight.

    • +1

Hey Hey. I think it's fixed. Please let us know if it's all good now?

      • looking good :) thanks for fixing so quickly

        • Haha… this is exhausting, but a great way to iron out mistakes. Thank you 🙏

  • I received my masks and seems like they are well built.
I have one problem though - since it doesn't have nose wire, some air is entering via this gap rather than through the mask/cloth.
How is everyone fixing this issue? What kind of nose wire are you using?
I tried using the wire from one of my N95 masks, but it did not suit(not strong enough to hold shape).
@Urban Green Farms, what do you suggest?

    • Hey Mate,

Thank you for the feedback. This exact concern was also flagged some time ago. This is one of the OZ bargainers comments "The nose wire assists in stopping the hot air blowing back up into your glasses, causing fogging.
From the image there looks to be a large gap around the nose. How do they perform with glasses?
That said - I have found I can take a nose wire from a disposable mask and thread it into the seam on re-usable masks like these". It's clever!

      • Yeah I tried that. Doesn't seem to work.
The problem is not only hot air blowing out, but outside air entering via that gap.
Maybe the wire on my disposable masks are not that strong.

If you know what kind of wire will go well with this, I am happy to buy that.

        • -1

You are correct! It's definitely something we need to look into considering so many people are demanding a solution for the nose wire. Please feel free to throw us solutions, ideas and even contacts that maybe able to help with supply of the options.

  • -1

We are pretty open and transparent. We don't pretend to know everything, so we lean on our customers and feedback whether it's positive or negative.

    • So have you not worn the mask? It is pretty obvious there is a gap.
Weeks ago people said there is a issue with nose wire/gap.
The best you did was copy/paste that comment.
So have you not done some research to try an improve the product.
To me, this mask is now useless.
Outside air is entering from the gap.
A cheap disposable mask with nose wire is performing better than yours at the moment.

      • We'll work with our team on how we can retrospectively add some wire for the nose option. We'll let you know how we are progressing. Thank you for the feedback.
