expired Unity 3D Game Development Tools with iOS and Android Tool Kits FOR FREE
This was posted 1 year 2 months 16 days ago, and might be an out-dated deal
This game engine was used to develop some very popular games of late (http://unity3d.com/gallery/made-with-unity/game-list) including Blood and Glory, Jelly Defence, ShadowGun, Battleheart and Muffin Knight.
I think the basic Windows dev tools are always free but till 8th April so are the IOS and Android dev kits.

soakwashrinsespin on 07/03/2012 - 18:46 ¶It might be free now, but I think the developer intends to resume charging for it again in the future, so it's probably best not to share the serials in public. (The serials are unique and tied to your account, rather than being one common serial for everyone.)
Edit: Sorry, I shouldn't have replied directly to your comment, to allow you to edit it… guess a mod might have to intervene.

CarbonTwelve on 07/03/2012 - 20:04 ¶Awesome, thanks OP. A friend and I have been looking for cross platform engines for a month or two without really finding what we were looking for, and unity looks perfect, plus free :)
SeeThroughGlass on 07/03/2012 - 20:19 ¶So, this version is fully legal? As in, I could make something with it, sell it and keep all the profit legally?
+3 votes"Can we sell games and make money with the free version of Unity?
Yes! You certainly can— and without royalties nor paying any revenue share! If your game is a commercial success, we hope you'll upgrade to Unity Pro! :)"
IsometricBacon on 08/03/2012 - 08:30 ¶As long as you're not developing for a company that has a annual turnover of over 100k a year, or alternatively not working for a educational institute with a annual budget of over 100k.
It also is missing a few features of the full version:

Excellent, I really wanted it from months ago but the $400 put me off. However I have a feeling they are about to release a new version that is way better :) but still can't beat it. Thanks leemako.
BTW guys I registered the the android and IOS version and got only one serial code. Can I use this same code on my mac for the ios version and windows pc for android version.
+1 voteGlad to bring it to every ones attention, hope there are a few talented people out there inspired enough to make their own Indie titles - ive always been one to have the great ideas but no coding skills :( .
I love how gaming has become a lot like the film industry now, because in part to tools like this fast tracking the process - the smaller crews with big ideas can release some art house awesome which is more inspired than the EA Big Game 2012 crap out there. Big love to the Indie devs out there.

Previously there was basically no way for indie devs to get a publisher to handle payment, hosting, and advertising.
Another big problem (that still is a problem) for someone like myself is knowing people with artistic talent to do graphics & music for you.

Your very right, the way we distribute media and reach the target audience is the real reason for Indie progress. I guess tools like this can help to ease that learning curve for those just starting out as developers. I still wouldnt know where to start with making a game but will have a play about with Unity any way.
Maxamillion21 on 07/03/2012 - 21:31 ¶leemako I love you!! This just saved me $800! Deal of the year imo!
+1 voteI wrote to support about this and received a response.

+1 voteGenghoidal on 07/03/2012 - 22:35 ¶Hehe, I'm glad I linked you to this leemako, seems the people at large appreciate the savings also! I have installed, registered and activated on PC and all working lovely jubblies.
I cannot comment on whether the licence will still work after the free period. I presume what you are getting here is a permanent licence to use and publish apps for Android / iOs (as if you actually bought the software to do that) and that this licence will be good for the life of the product (or as long as their activation servers still accept your serials)
Anyway I got the deal from an online Game Dev group which had promoted it. Glad to share the love!

Speak of the devil, I was looking at buying the android one a couple of days ago, and I've been fiddling around in unity for the past hour or so. Bargain of the year so far for me!
