Logitech G27 Just $139 from Dick Smith Game Clearance. on Now!

1824

The dick Smith gaming clearance hasn't appealed to all due to the haphazard manner of leaking and the irregular stock levels but this deal is undoubtedly awesome.
And the majority of stores seem to have stock.

I just saw it in my local but the price seems unchanged online…

Get at it!

          He's lying

There are ten stores in the 100km radius of Newcastle checked using DSE Store Locator

Now starting at Newcastle West going through all those stores in the most efficient order and returning to the Newcastle Store gives me a total of 4 hours 30 minutes.Route Link here

Now this deal was posted about 6 hours 15 minutes ago and Copie posted about 40 minutes ago, I'll assume he posted from home, that means that even he was outside first Dick Smith when the deal was posted, he had to have taken at most 2 hours at the other 9 DSE Stores. this means 13 minutes in each Store. Given some of them are inside Malls, there is a possibility that he wasn't able to park near a store and would have to spend some time either finding the store and or/walking to it. This of course is assuming none to little traffic.

Then there is the small matter of storing/transporting those 34 boxes, which I recall being quite big and would definitely not fit in anything other than large caravan or movers truck, which no ozbargainer has just lying around.

SO Copie sir, you have either lied about the amount of wheels you purchased or the amount of places you visited in gathering such a large stock pile. Therefore I conclude, that this contradicts the entire nature of your story and you sir are and Idiot and I feel like Sherlock Holmes( The New BBC one, not the movies)

        • +1

Copie is a truckie iirc, so its very possible

    • Cool story bro.

    • Lol thats how the GFC started, better offload them quick ;). Wonder if these will have compatibility issues when the new PS and XBOX hit the market in 2014.

Every store around Ryde sold out, got one of my mates to drive to Mt Druitt and picked up one for each of us. Around 20 left he said at around 3pm so if anyone is keen.

  • +1

What's the best PC game to make use of the G27 features ie gear shift besides Live For Speed?

  • I recommend Shift 2 Unleashed. If you are going to make up a frame to house the G27 make it twice as strong
as you might have thought, and bolt it down.

  • +1

A couple popping up on eBay already -.-

      • None of them are your listing though…

        • -2

And how do you know my ebay name? protip its not by normal tag FYI

Anyways, as said, none left in Newcastle right through to Muswellbrook and Tuggerah

Also spoke to an associate who is the stock allocator at the DSE warehouse and there is several hundred awaiting splitting and shipment to various stores.

  • Picked up one from Mount Druitt. They still had about 20 in stock.

  • Dandenong had 15 left at 2pm.

  • Grabbed the last one from Stafford City. So glad I didn't pay $209 for one from JB the other day.

    • I actually did just that on Saturday. And I thought that was a bargain.

Lucky I managed to get one from Dicksmith and returned the one from JB no prob. Thanks OP! Wanted this wheels since G25 (old model), but couldn't justify the price.

  • I got one from Southport DSE and runaway bay also had some. 5 in stock at each place. This was at 3.30pm.

  • Just got one from Fremantle Perth for $139 :) About 5 left in the store.

  • Just went into DSE and the price just changed it was a pricing error from head office.

    • +1

if that is really the case, that will be soooooo funny

      • not funny for me, I rang lots of stores and most said some guy come in the morning and bought them all. I would assume it was the same guy, all in my local area.

So I rang one store and wala they had some in stock. I got them to put it on hold. I traveled a fair way with a smile on my face and when I got there they told me they couldn't honor the price.

WTF… I put this on hold 1 hour ago and they confirmed with me that it was $139. I get there and they cannot honor it. They said head office in Sydney changed it as it was a pricing error.

All my valuable petrol… gone and no awesome Logitech G27. DW… DSE I will chase you up and if you cannot honor me that price I will get fair trading involved.

        • Let me know how you go I'm in the same boat, 2 on hold now won't honor it claiming there is a disclaimer for pricing errors.

        • If DSE realise they have a problem (different prices in-store and on web site, in this case), they are allowed to withdraw the item from sale until they correct the mistaken advertised price (change the price tags in this case) and advertise that correction as widely as they advertised the mistaken price(s).

They weren't trying to Bait and Switch you, and they didn't take your money, so your leverage is limited despite the waste of your petrol and time that this represented.

    • Got told the same thing at Springwood. The area manager told the staff that it was a pricing error that was fixed at 4pm.

    • Woooow. That sucks bro. Maybe it will go on sale again when the big sale starts?

  • +6

lol look at this scamming bastard- http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Logitech-g27-gaming-wheel-brand-n…

"THIS BABY RETAILS FOR $499 AT DICK SMITH I RECEIVED 2 TODAY FOR MY BIRTHDAY SO ONE HAS TO GO"

    • lol, everyone with an ebay account send this guy a message and say I seen these in DSE for $139. You rip off (:

      • +1

how does that help other people? Someone should draw a photo of the wheel along with OP's sticker and sell that on ebay and tag it with G27 wheel or whatever and list a really low price. When people start searching for g27 wheels, they will come to this post first(cheapest) and find out about the scam.

        • +1

          good idea (:
but people will still pay the higher price because that deal is no longer available. :(

        • -3

And watch the listing get removed straight away as its a fraudulent listing. And your account will most likely be suspended.

        • +1

not unless you specify in the listings that it is a drawing and/or a photo that you took. And who will report it, you?

        • lol, we may have found copie's ebay username.

      • +2

His margin is gonna be pretty tight. His buy price is $139 however he is offering free postage on an item which weights 10kg (including packaging).

Hes put a quick 1 day listing to try and dump the product before the mainstream finds out it retails for $139, this means final price would potentially be lower as your listing time is less.

If the buyer is in NSW he's gonna get lucky with postage. If the buyer is a lot further away like WA or TAS postage will be a killer and he's gonna have to give a fair chunk of his margin to Auspost, assuming that the item sells for not much more than his buy price.

Hence the reason why I think $139 is too big a risk for an opportunistic eBay profit on an item which can only be used on 3 platforms and with specific games only.

  • +4

Got the last 6 at DSE Townsville - going to setup a simulation party :D

    http://i.imgur.com/bWm2M.jpg

    • O.O more like a ebay party?

      • +3

nah, definitely not ebaying these - got plenty of friends that will buy them for what I paid for, we're all into racing and they've been living with the crappy logitech driving force wheels up until now :) one hell of a racing LAN coming up!

        • All open boxes anyway.

        • @ca6leguy

There's always OCAU for that stuff. But he'd be making a loss selling there

  • Price changed at Glen Waverley :/

  • Joondalup WA is showing as having stock. Apparently the only 1 they have is on 24 hrs hold ( WTF!!!).
They let me rain check one as there is heaps showing in the warehouse.

    • Are you serious? They turned away a whole bunch of us and refused to sell it for $139, and then they give you a raincheck?

No wonder this chain is going bankrupt, can't even organize their separate stores.

    • If they let you raincheck / put it on hold, and you don't get it for that price make sure you go to Fair Trading, the more the better as DSE shouldn't be allowed to back out once you've put the item on hold.

    • I don't think it's actually a rain check. It is fully paid for, just the pickup is not completed. That's what the receipt says anyway.

      • I've made a customer order after some guy put the 5 sitting on the floor on hold over the phone?? After they told me they had 6 available 5 mins before, anyway I paid and was told it would be there in 7 days but have no doubt will get a cancellation notice, let me know if yours is honored.

    • Mmmmm this may have been mine. They had three when I rang and asked them to hold me one for an hour. The guy sounded pretty excited when I said the price, so I I'm not sure they knew about the cheap price. But in the half hour it took me to get there, the other two had apparently been sold and the one they were "going" to put on hold for me was supposedly been stolen. Poor form DSE, poor form.

  • Can I get some PC game suggestions? Going to get DiRT3 the next time it's $10 on here.. but what else is there?

    • rFactor is a great game, you can get the V8 tracks for Australia on there with a mod :D

      • Sweet.. I installed it since it came with it (a trial anyway). How do you get it to work properly though? at the mo' the pedals are all assigned weird. Do I have to manually set it all up? It has a g27 preset already so that seems a bit backwards.

        • Yeah the G27 preset should just work fine, I'm not sure what problems you're having :/

        • Make sure you play around with the RealFeel Plug In for rFactor - it can really transform the feeling of game/wheel

Want to make it feel like a big heavy V8…. have a play around, you'll be surprised.

      • Which is better, rFactor or Live For Speed?

        • +1

Never used Live For Speed, but have heard great things about it.

    • Race 07, RACE Injection, RACE On, GTR Evolution. YOu can find them all on Steam. They where on special(-50% off) at GMG, but stupid me only bought Race 07. Great sim, works great with my new g27.

  • +1

Btw OP, did you steal the sticker from Chirnside Park? The guy at the counter mentioned being surprised when he printed it off.. but when I looked at the floor pile there was no $139 label. Lol.

  • OMG, I can't believe I thought this was April Fools!! I better be able to find one tomorrow. =(

    • It was a pricing error, after 4pm today it was impossible to get one anywhere. :(

      • +1

AFAIK was supposed to be part of the gaming clearance starting monday. Nonetheless the price was dropped today and my store sold out (mind you we only had 4 in the morning)

  • got one from liverpool sydney, there was still 4 when i went!

  • Got one today from Green Hills store, awesome deal! I called the store in advance to check availability and they had 7 at the time. The guy on the other end didn't realise how cheap they were until I asked and promptly said to me "Whoa, I'm getting one of those", haha.

  • Just bought mine from Eastland VIC at around 3pm. There was still a few units available and also heard that Knox had stock. All sold out at Nunawading.

  • So whats the original sale price if it isn't supposed to be $139?

    • DSE Price/RRP: 499
      Logitech online shop: 245

      • jb hifi has them for $209.30

  • Got mine from Mentone this afternoon, only two left after I picked up mine. Ozbargain you won again…

  • Can anyone sell me one ? I missed out today. Went to Rhodes and a guy infront of me bought the last one :( bummer.

    • +2

Theres like 10 of them listed on eBay today as "unwanted gift", "bday present", "study commitments"

  • +3

@cheapo.one Excellent find mate, thank you for posting. Legend!

  • Nice find if you where not on the gold coast…3 stores and all showing $499.00 that i went too…bummer

    • did you scan em though..? Chirnside didn't have a label up but the price was right. If you went after ~4 though the price went back up…

  • Got the last one at DSE Eltham Vic. Thank you Ozbargain

  • Bought one, thanks to the OP for this as I thought the sale starts tomorrow.

  • -5

@spawnpoint Who said it was just me doing it? i had my wife head out and do Muswellbrook, Singleton, Maitland and Greenhills.

    So your logic is fail.

Also only Charlestown, Tuggerah and Erina are in actual shopping centers, Glendale is in one of those open plan centers (can park directly out front) and Greenhills (an outside shop next to the carparks) all the others are standalones that you can park almost directly out the front of.

  • Whats the deal with this thing? Why is it so popular? If I don't generally like racing games with a controller will I like it with this?

    • This deal is popular as you are pretty much guaranteed to break even even after using it for like 3 months just by reselling it second hand. I'm not sure if you will like it or not but this will get you track times which you cannot get with a standard controller.

      • Unless the new one comes out. G27 came out in 2009 and is due for an update sometime this year…

        • Even at $140 cost price he'll break even or a slight loss if he sells it after the new one comes out. I remember the G25 going used for like $200 when the G27 came out.

  • Got the last one from Rhodes. The guy said that system says $499… I thought that bugger I missed the deal but luckily after some arguing he let me have it for $139…

Will you guys be responding to this price?

      • this is the logitech rep. not logitechshop

        • +1

He was asking whether they will respond if it was a pricing error or whatever.

        • +1

Was it a pricing error or a one day surprise sale?

      • @ zxcv it really has nothing to do with us in regards to what the retailers or resellers do.

        • interesting, I thought in some cases manufacturers may offer rebates for retailers hence they can drop the price substantially. This kind of drop is unprecedented so I thought perhaps you guys may have been aware of it.

  • Just curious, will other stores price match this deal tomorrow? Like JB Hifi?

  • So how much are these now if i walked into a store tomorrow?

    • It should be $139 starting tomorrow if you can find a store with them in stock. (AFAIK, today's price was in error as the sale should have started tomorrow)

  • It wasn't a pricing error per se. It came through the POS system earlier than the start day of the sale (tomorrow). It is likely these will be on special tomorrow for the same price.

  • anyone get it working for grid or blur?

    • it should, be suprised if it doesnt

      • I tried it on Grid. It does not work at all. RumblePad works f
to a certain extend but it's pretty sh!t. Works great on Dirt 2.

      • I think many would have had second thoughts and possibly wouldn't have bought this if they read how narrow compatibility is. $499, $299 and even $200 for this is over rated when you consider a brand new xbox or PS3 prices start at $200+. This shouldn't be priced over $110 which is the top range for a third party 'accessory'.

C'mon Logitech I want to be able to play Battlefield or MW with the next version of this if I choose to ;).

        • +2

These sound like words from some1 who didnt get one and is upset they didnt get one.

        • @ maxixix you'll find it works with heaps of stuff. Altough what you really find is that this sort of wheel is really for the true racing enthusiast and they are typically playing rFactor, GT5, F1 2010/11, lots of the Sinbin titles etc etc One of the guys in the office uses one with all sorts of racing games and has never really had any issues from the sounds of it.

Here's some reviews to check out
          http://reviews-au.logitech.com/7061-en_au/5184/g27-racing-wh…

      • -3

Lol grow up and see my earliest post, I saw this when it was first posted and realised I will be stuck with only few games where this is 100% functional. Thus, I chose not to buy one.

If you have a buyer remorse dont hate the player, hate the limited games :). Unless you bought too many that you are trying to sell for a quick buck ;).

  • +1

If this deal is supposed to start tomorrow why would DSE bother to retract the price 1 hour prior to closing. This means that all the tags staff put out earlier in the day would have to be taken down again.

If what everyone's thinking is true they would have been taken down only to be put back up the following morning. Not worth it for the hour in between.
