I love how people negged a deal they weren't technically entitled to because servers that weren't expecting their business couldn't let them buy a product they would otherwise have been unaware of.

I don't think winemarket submitted this to OzB. To neg the OPs deal based on website load is really harsh (and wrong).
I didn't say that winemarket submitted it to OzB, just that they have an unprepared website which got a stress test. In the end it doesn't matter whether I neg it or not. People who have had their time wasted will form their own adverse judgement.

Yeah, but some businesses have figured out how to keep their websites running no matter what the load. You may have heard of them: Amazon, eBay, etc.
Not everyone can afford that kind of server like ebay/Amazon - high traffic servers aren't free you know
You can actually rent flexible cloud capacity these days, or oursource e-commerce to cloud sites, you don't have to hope that your rack server, let alone one that's just running a CRM rather than a dedicated commerce site will handle peaks.
Actually what I suspect what happened is that they wanted to get only premium Paypal users, and Paypal would have filtered out all but a small fraction of the traffic, but their programmer didn't manage to get this to work and they had to scramble in damage control.

How will this be delivered? Can I pick up from Post Office if I'm not home (likely to be the case on any working day).
When I ordered a case it was sent via a wine courier. He rang me the night before (On a Sunday) and organised time of delivery and made sure I would be home. Great service.

I'm trying to purchase a twin pack but the site freezes after the PayPal payment section. Still trying to order. Also, if you apply the voucher code and then change the shipping address, the price reverts back. Beware.

Yup, repeated error messages and for some reason the netsuite component of Winemarket repeatedly changes your price back to the full amount at the final screen.

Poor planning by Winemarket by not having the right systems to handle the traffic for a promotion like this, I agree they have done themselves more harm then good with this promotion.
Well technically the offer was only meant to be for people who received the email…depending on if they sent to selected members or ALL members, I guess determines on what they were expecting. I got the email, but have been unsuccessful in getting the deal.
I tried to place my order about one second after I got the Paypal email and the site was already rooted.
I got this email and tried to buy before it was posted here on OzBargain, and it didn't even work then.
I received it as well, I think it might of been all users.
I doubt it was to all users, that's a huge amount of people for only 2,500 redemptions. It specifically mentions it being a Top Customer privilege. More than likely they just didn't anticipate people like the OP sharing the code publicly within minutes of the email going out. Paypal should have made unique codes, that way the people who the email was actually supposed to be for could receive their offer…
@Fazzmania - I am a regular user of Paypal but I would hardly fall into being a "Top Customer", it may of been a certain number of random accounts. But like some others the first time I tried to buy, the site crashed and this was before it hit Ozbargain. If it was really meant exclusively for "Top Customers", the validity of the coupon should of been tied to the user ID.
I just got through as the site came back up and i'm at the code entering stage of it. If this works I promise to stop Wineing about it. (nice gag)
