Mitsubishi 700L Fridge - MR-WX700C-W-A - $3,735 Delivered @ Appliances Online

1520

Overview

Just purchased one of these for $3,735. I believe Mitsubishi is one of the more reliable fridge manufacturers out there with fridges made in Japan.
Most retailers are advertising this fridge for near $5k eg:

  • Harvey Norman: $4,899
  • Bing Lee: $4,999

I believe that there may be a newer series around the corner.
Worth noting that this price is only for the white. Silver is coming up at $4,361.

Description

  • Is Hitachi part of Mitsubishi? This looks awfully similar in design to a Hitachi fridge I’ve been looking at.

    • Hitachi version is slightly different internally. Has a vacuum. Comes in a mirror finish. I think the rapid cooling section has a bit of different tech as well. Has a touch panel where the doors auto open too.

I preferred it to the Mitsubishi, if I was gonna fork out 4K for a fridge, might as well look the part.

Have been using it for a year now, great fridge, well thought out, nothing extraneous, looks great in person.

    • It's a standard design among Japanese manufacturers (so there are sizing/measurement standards as well, you may need to double check spacing requirements within your kitchen's layout) - Panasonic, Sharp, Toshiba, etc all have a similar make (Japan market only) - some examples:
      https://www.yodobashi.com/category/6353/6355/6375/6494/?disc…

I've had the Hitachi with the auto doors for about 6 months now, and it's great! Only compliant is that I have 2 kids that like to play with the drawers, and as it's glass - leaves endless amounts of grubby finger marks. Easy enough to wipe down of course).

Best fridge we have ever owned by such a long way it's chilling

  • +1

Also have the 743 for 5 yrs now. Excellent t and would buy again.
The biggest selling point for us was the external footprint and size is really small for how much internal space you get.

    • Could never buy from appliances online however after reading an article where the owner was whinging about how our wages were to high and he couldn’t find staff.
      :(

      • Politly queried the $$$$ for the installation of a washing machine , thought maybe a typo , and told very abruptly to install it myself . Nah thanks mate .

    • Good luck finding any other fridge with vacuum insulated panels - the magic of the thinness.

  • Probably wont fit through my doors.

    • +3

Watching my removalists move this to my new house was a sight to behold.

    • +2

      help step-fridge, I'm stuck.

  • Great fridge, have a silver one, love it.

  • I bought 743L for 3700 delivered. bloody inflation..

  • +1

I have this fridge, awesome, no issues at all after endless problems with my previous Samsung one.

  • +1

We’ve had this fridge for 6 years and it hasn’t skipped a beat. Great fridge! We use the verse drawer to keep the bread fresh. It partly freezes it so it stays fresh, but isn’t completely frozen so toasts easily and Makes a great sandwich. Also great for deli meats. We had a very limited in built space and this was the biggest fridge we could get for that size. So glad we did!

  • just dealt coz it's an OZB fave. now i need to fill it up with youfood specials

  • +7

Awesome fridge, bought one a few weeks ago to go with a kitchen refurb.

We had a Miele KF1911VI fridge previously 15k RRP (got it for free) but we like the Mitsubishi more.

Also 700L and only 800mm wide is amazing and just so typically Japanese.

    • +1

You've done an amazing job with that space! Fridge fits in brilliantly.

      • Except, unless the space around and above the fridge is vented the clearances are too tight so there'll be a loss of efficiency.

        • +1

This fridge requires 50mm on the top and only 5mm on the sides.
I would've liked to have achieved the 5mm on the sides but I've got 10mm either side and 45mm at the top.

          • @h0mbre: Wow, that's a lot less than mine. You'd wonder how it can disperse the heat.

    • +2

Out of interest - what other appliances/oven/rangehood/sink have you used there? Looks good.

      • +5

        Thanks mate!

        Oven : Miele H2661BP

Rangehood: F&P HP60IDCHX3 (Was the only undermount that would fit in the cupboard but I am very impressed with it, although a bit pricey)

Cooktop: Bosch 75cm PCR7A5B90A (75cm cooktops are awesome because you get the extra row but it fits in a 600 cabinet)

        Dishwasher: Bosch Serie 4 SMU46GS01A

Sink: Buildmat Marissa 810x450 (with all the accessories it was considerably cheaper than your Franke or equivalent but very well made)

Sink mixer: Mizu Drift MK2 Gooseneck Pull Out

I am a builder and many of these appliances were obtained for free and brand new from commercial make good projects.

The rest of the stuff I purchased at trade discount from my suppliers.

If I was to buy all new I would've got Bosch or F&P utilising eBay discounts etc

        • @h0mbre - Just curious, how do you obtain the items for free? Not trolling, genuinely curious.

          • @StonedWizard: I'm a builder and regularly do commercial make good projects. Sometimes we are making good display suites for developments that have appliances installed in the kitchen but have never been powered on.

Some of the stuff that I've sent to the tip would make an ozbargainer cry.

            • @h0mbre: @h0mbre - So it's all the ex display suit items?

Do you every just take the items to the tip home and sell?

    • Looks great!

Can I ask what is the exact length the fridge is coming out from your cavity?

I am about to bite the bullet and buy this but it will be sticking out 156mm from our cavity and not sure if it look odd….

      Thanks

    Mitsubishi WX Series Product Tour
    - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQI79yHB32U | 4:05

Introducing the NEW WX Series refrigerator from Mitsubishi Electric.
This new French door fridge made in Japan with a 3.5 star energy rating.
It boasts a huge 743L capacity, and smart features like the Versa Drawer,
Vacuum Insulation Panel (VIP), Flexi Shelf, Super Cool Case and more. Take a look today.

  • I've got the smaller MRLX564ERGSLA 564L fridge and it is fantastic! The vegetable drawer is spacious and doesn't freeze plus the ice maker is easy to clean and doesn't require any plumbing. I would've bought this model if it'd been at this price

    • Veg drawer is good for drinks too (one thing the main fridge part is a little short on if you want to stand them up).

  • +1

Can vouch for this, paid 3.3k black version few years ago, best bang for bux

    • is there black version ? i thought only white, silver and red

      • I think the official term is dark mahogany but it looks black to me

  • I love the look of this fridge and tempted to buy. I just measured my fridge cavity and it's about 50mm too short in height but can fix that by cutting down the gables of the overhead fridge cabinet

    • worth the hassle

      • Yes I think so too. It won't take much work, the hinges on the cabinet won't need to be moved

        • +1

better buy soon. everything is going up in price.

          • @Kewlj: Are you getting a commission if I buy one? I don't mind, just curious why you're trying to steer me into buying one

            • +6

@[Deactivated]: nope. how to get commission ? :)
I love recommending others to buy great quality stuff… it's a joy to share

              • @Kewlj: Thanks mate, I agree it does feel good

  • Have the 470lt version and its a good bit of gear.
Did a heap of research at the time and laded on the Mits. Hasn't missed a beat in 2 or so years!
    Super happy!

  • We bought the 743l version from home clearance for $2,499. Was a slightly older model but still a great fridge. We did have an issue with a strange noise but had service people over who replaced the fan assembly with the new version for free.
My only gripe is I use the freezer and versa drawer as a freezer and still keep running out of room!

    • Buying a chest freezer just as covid kicked off fixed my freezer space issue …!

    • I have the 564 (I think that's the size) and also have a Hisense upright freezer (240-270 litre I think).

  • OOS

    • The website is only showing a 2 week wait for stock. Walk into a Winning Appliances store (same parent company, same delivery truck) to take a look at the fridge and buy - very unlikely that they won't match the price on the spot.

    • Interesting, must depend on warehouse. Brisbane still has stock.

  • I got a different one, a 4 door 710L from Mitsubishi fridge for almost 2 years, so far so good. Bought Mitsubishi fridge because almost all Mitsubishi fridge got pretty good review. It is slightly more expensive than some brand, but energy rating was so good.

  • These are the best fridges you can buy here. But pricing should be mid 3s or a little more. Bought one around 3 years ago in maroon.

  • Was looking for a deal on this one for some time. Thanks!

  • -3

The best products, are always the most ugly unfortunately.

Do they make better looking versions? Lol

  • Have the smaller unit of this bought 6 years ago. Moved 2 houses, even the removalist said it’s the best fridge they see as it has solid wheels to move on. Hasn’t missed a beat, no crazy humming noise and the Flexi compartments and shelves just pack so much punch. Won’t be the cheapest fridge you will buy, but you really get what you pay for. At this price, absolute bargain.

  • +1

Lots of comments here saying things like "awesome fridge", "best I've ever owned" etc .

What would i get with this fridge over my current Westinghouse, which cools fine, hasn't broken or had any issues etc. but nothing jumps out to me as "awesome".

I'll still go Japanese for my next fridge but am just curious.

    • +4

I wouldn't replace a working fridge for it unless it was old and inefficient, or you knew you could sell it for a decent price.

These Mits have great build quality. No feeling like the hinges might go if you load up the doors heavily (also the French doors are narrow so that helps that). It's more how versatile the compartments are - the ice drawer can be a freezer. You can turn ice making on and off. The Versa drawer can do almost anything including cooling down hot food fast. Once you get the hang of storing veg in the bottom drawer instead of the fridge it makes sense and you don't get frozen veg. Easy access freezer.

One drawback (on my easy model) is the shelves are deep and not very high, so you have to think about what you keep at the back. That applies to lots of fridges though.

    • Wouldn’t replace a good working fridge unless you moved/remodelled and it didn’t fit.
We have one, they’re great, but wouldn’t change fridges for it….

  • Any details on the potential new model?

    • Someone on p1 of comments said MR-WXD70G, 2021, with AI function. Had a look at some youtube videos and the jp website but couldn't really understand the differences.

  • +1

What a bargain! the only fridge I was happy to pay for full price at the time (6 or 7 yrs ago) after doing my research.
Very happy with the quality so far. Also, what I like about it is it has much more usable space compared to similar size fridges so it is great for small fridge cavities.
Very smart design with all the drawers in the main compartment and separate wide drawers for each function. Still love the feeling whenever I open a drawer to this day :)

  • Absolutely great value fridge, got it for 3700 from harvey norman cpl of years ago. Apart from polarising looks, everything is great about it from footprint to internal space, quietness and functional drawers, it just works.

  • Does this fridge not have a water dispenser?

    • Does not.

      • Doh! Thanks. Pass.

        • My current fridge is plumbed and we do not use that function. I had to have my timber floors redone due to a dishwasher leek and the people that did it said that damage from leaking fridges was very common. In any event, I find no need for it and use that compartment for frozen Items. I have just purchased this Mitsubishi and the only issue I have is that the freezer is a lot smaller than my current 2 door side by side. 240 (not inc ice compartment) vs this one 207 including the versa drawer.

          • +1

@Yola: We pull about 3-5L of chilled filtered water from our fridge every day. Couldn't live without it unfortunately.

  • +2

Needed to buy a fridge for the new house, absolutely did not expect to drop close to $4k. Curse you Ozbargain!

    • +2

I can relate - I was looking for fridge for under $2k. Ended up speaking to family and friends with Mitsu fridges then before you know it $3,735 was missing from my bank account.

  • +1

We bought that model because it is skinny and fitted in our space. It is fantastic. My only 2 suggestions would be to put the freezer on the bottom and move the fruit & veg drawer up one and also have soft close doors and drawers then it would be absolutely perfect :)

  • +1

6 doors ? Tick ! hours of entertainment for kids and cook -

which drawer was it ? I know it was in here somewhere …

  • The four door model before this one went on clearance at $2523 in June last year.

    This was the model: https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/product/mitsubishi-elect…

    • +2

Not really in the same league.

  • I've had this fridge for a while now, and it simply oozes quality. It's silent with only the slightest hum, and its panels are crazy thin due to the vacuum seal they use, which means the space it takes for internal size ratio is right up there.
The compartments are designed to fit a lot, and there is a great amount of flexibility too with moving parts up and down.
Being able to adjust the individual drawer temp is also great.

  • Only white is on special.

  • +2

Not really a bargain @ $3,735 Delivered. Then again in this market who knows?

Once in a while Appliances Online have them for under $3,400.

    I paid $3,500 delivered elsewhere.

I'm sure it's been said multiple times already but great fridge.

  • I keep seeing random comments where people say you can convert the ice drawer to a extra freezer space. I have this fridge and as far as I have been able to tell, you can't convert the ice draw to extra freezer space. You can convert the versa drawer to extra freezer space (instead of soft freeze).

I'd be happy for someone to correct me, because there are times I prefer to turn off the ice feature. During winter when I don't use it much, if you don't keep water flowing through the ice maker, the water gets stagnant and mould can build up.

  • bargain*

  • With all the positive comments re Mitsubishi fridges' quality and 5-year warranty, I just bought the 505L top mount. Prefer a bigger freezer space rather than the drawer style of the WX700. Got AO to price match just under $1.7k

    • +2

You missed the other important bit, it's the Made in Japan models. For the price you paid I don't think it is.

  • +2

Found it here even cheaper - new item but damaged box - https://applianceswarehouse.com.au/product/mitsubishi-electr… - Sydney delivery only

    • Bloody hell! That's excellent.

      • nice find ! its got an error on the page, fridge will have manufacturer warranty of 5 years - its brand new - i rang the shop.

        • Reviews don't look great online - fair few horror stories. Unclear if that's just unhappy customers from getting refurb products or if it's due misleading advertising from applianceswarehouse. They seemingly don't have a great returns/cancellation policy too. Interested if any other ozbargainers have dealt with them, otherwise might avoid for such an expensive and ungainly purchase

          • @DaiShan: paid with paypal. fingers crossed.

            • @ravzter: Good luck mate - I suspect you'll be okay as it's only box damaged with a brand new/untouched unit within - you're not relying on the quality of a refurb job. Do you mind messaging back upon receipt? Would be good to know if we can trust these guys.

              • +1

@DaiShan: rang the shop, requested inspection before shipment , 5 mins down the road from us- would not let me cancel …will let you know.

                • @ravzter: Yeah I will do the same - will head down on Sat to inspect the unit itself and purchase if it looks good.

                  • +1

@DaiShan: Mine just arrived. Looks to be legit.

                    • @brainjk: brilliant! what a win. I'm on backorder with AO so can still cancel and switch. thanks for the update.

  • If you've missed out - you can call up/message winning appliances who will price match as well.

  • +1

I bought a similar Mitzi fridge a few years back, just larger (so many spawn), bloody excellent fridge. Paid for 3 years extra warranty, which is added to the 5 years standard… 8 years warranty. :)
Best fridge ever, no regrets at all.

My last Westinghouse was dead in 5 years, it's all China junk these days.

  • This is about trade price from HNC

  • +2

These Japanese made multidrawer fridges are out of this World
We bought a 620L Hitachi with a vac seal drawer in black glass. Seriously considered this particular Mitsubishi too. In the end Vac drawer and black glass finish won us over. Never looked back.
Once installed, partner and I were like monkeys opening and closing those drawers million times per day. Couldn't get over them! Novelty worn off, quality stayed in the end!
    Highly recommended!!

Wish Hitachi sold their Japanese made washers in Australia..sigh

  • +2

Mitsubishi used to make war planes in WW2. This fridge must be godly

  • +2

Just price matched with Harvey Norman because they were willing to do this price with the dark mahogany which I really preferred over the white.

  • +8

I think everyone here has sold me on Japanese fridges lol

    • and consequently doubled my fridge budget…

  • We have had one for about 4 years now. Best fridge we have ever had. Really efficient and amazingly quiet. The only thing we hear is ice blocks dropping into the holder every now and hen.
That is a good price too.
