  • got the electric one for $20, would it be worth returning that and getting this?

    • +10

Check this for yourself but I think Bunnings has a recall going for the electric version!

    • +1

Which model do you own? It could part of the recall and U could get a cordless blower n battery as a replacement

      • +4

I recall reading people buying these recalled units off gumtree and FBM and then swinging by Bunnings for a replacement with the cordless. Gold.

        • +2

Yes I've done this about 5 or 6 times 🙂
I posted this "hack" in the ozito blower skin deal recently and it made the news!
The longest part is s not buying it off FB or gumtree, but it's the Bunnings attendant not knowing how to put through the transaction (not their fault, it's just rare)

          • +1

            @mmd:

This one blower hack that has Bunnings going broke

            news.com.au

          • @mmd: Please share your "hack" post?

            • @BuyNow Think Later: just click on their name then comments and have a look, it’s not exactly hard to find

            • +1

              Method.
              1. Buy the blower ensuring you have the correct model and batch number
              2. Take into Bunnings
              3. Walk out with brand new cordless blower and battery. In some occasions the store attendant may offer you $49 cash. Refuse this and show them the flyer (pdf file in the link above) which entitles you to one cordless blower kit

              Extra info
I have paid no more than 30 and the cheapest was 10!
I have not seen a Bunnings team member check the batch number nor if it even works (I assume they just dispose it)
The 2ah battery contains 18650s which are soldered but can be detached

              • @mmd: I’m late to the party and can’t find any!

I can only find some that don’t have the WA at the end of the model.

                • @ColtNoir: Yep that's not the recalled model.
It does pop up from time to time. Just keep an eye on gumtree/FB

              • @mmd: @mmd Do they check the exact model number? I have a 2400 W ozito blower. Worth giving a try?

                • @Young gardener: From memory I've had the model number checked a couple of times

                  • @mmd: I have found one with same model but different batch not listed in the recall. I could give it a go I suppose and if they don't accept, try a different bunnings. Do you think that can work? Worth a shot at $20

                    • @Royale with cheese: I would say it’s a pretty big dice roll especially after the “journalist” wrote an article about it

                      • +1

@mapax: Last time I went to bunnings they didn't check it but yes if they did, I am screwed. However it really probably comes down to the kids at the counter and how thorough they are

          • +1

@mmd: Yes sir I read your comment and got one for $30 but looks like it is becoming common knowledge since making it to the news

    • I have the 3-1 as well as the one in this deal, the one here is much lighter and easier to maneuver as it's less bulky.

Power naturally better on the electric but for what I needed the battery is fine. If you aren't using the vac at all and just want to blow leaves / clippings around, I would go for the battery model. I am using a 4ah battery with it which helps.

I did get it for $99 with a trimmer which I think is probably better value. Would only get for $65 if it was urgently needed.

  • +7

Finally an Ozito tool I already own and can comment on. I haven't really tried other brands, but I really love my blower. Battery lasts as long as I've ever needed it and plenty of grunt for what it needs.

    • +1

Agree on this! Blows leaves and grass clippings fine. Good for small yards or if you want to blow leaves/dirt out of the garage

      • +3

What about drying out car after wash?

        • Actually yes I do that too, but only for getting water out of wheels, door handles and other small gaps. Not for drying the whole car.

    • What about drying out car after wash?

      • I've never thought to try this, but I have absolutely no concerns that it would be more than capable.

      • +1

I tried it yesterday. It's useless in that regard too. I might 3D print a narrower end tip and see if that helps.

        • +1

I've done a whole car before and it took ages lol. Only really good for the gaps and wheels etc.

      • +1

Its not a strong blower, need something better for drying a vehicle

Ive got a few different models and this is a solid entry level unit but no more

        • +1

Does anyone know what device is more powerful? Says it blows up to 210km/h but if you all say it cant blow the water off, then what can?

Incidently I used a car wash place the other day and they had an air pressure gun at the vacuum section. it was really effective in getting sand and crap from the carpet. I liked it so much I wondered if something like this could do a similar job? That one blows at 33000RPM blowing force: 0.98OZ~1.16 OZ (FWIW???).

On a general theme, is there anything you could use to do both jobs- possible something with an interchangable nose which could either focus the air or distribute a 'broaded blow' (so to speak)?

          Thoughts?

      • +1

i just do a fast drive around the block after Im done washing (and shammying the windows)

      • +1

You want a car specific blower that filters the air, otherwise you’ll just scratch up the car.
Or just stick to a micro fibre drying towel.

    • I purchased the skin with the special a few weeks back purely for dusting out the shed. It does that fine.

I tried it on wet grass clippings on concrete and it's pretty useless in that regard. My 2T Stihl has not been retired that's for sure.

  • skin only not on sale. :(
    Great price for kit

    • You didn't pick one up a few weeks ago?

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/695736

      • +3

Only for the covid state unfortunately.

        • Ahhh. That's right. I forgot about that condition.

        • Couldn't tell which one you were referring to without clicking through

    • +5

I just picked up the skin only 1 hour ago for $34.50. https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-cordless-blower-sk…

      • $77.50 in NSW

        • Ahh, I'm in Victoria.

          • +1

@Basesub: Showing 77.50 for me in Vic?

Edit - changed store a few times and found some at 34.50

        • …. You need to check shelf price carefully. I nearly made the same mistake…. I then scanned the shelves looking for the yellow $64.50 shelf ticket and found them about 2 metres away from the $77.50 units. Bunnings shelf merchandising leaves a lot to be desired. I have cataracts in both eyes (2+ years waiting for the op in these COVID times) and waste so much time scanning shelf prices these days. I purchased one (kit, not skin-only) today and would suggest go back and check again if you still want one. Our local Bunnings was very crowded today, no doubt with Mothers' Day present shoppers ;)

    • if you are talking about the blower then yes skin only is also on sale for $34.50

      • $77.50 in SA

  • +2

    Thanks OP.

I was needing a new leaf blower because my old one died this morning.

  • +2

Ozito day it seems today. Cheers for good deals.

    • thanks to Mitre 10 on slashing their 18v rockwell tools by 50%

  • shame the blower+trimmer kit for $99 is no longer available :(

    • @ gonzule "shame the blower+trimmer kit for $99 is no longer available :("
If your patient and not in dire need, hang about for next long weekend sale or even Fathers' Day. Ozito /Bunnings tend to focus on these events, I nearly bought one last Fathers' Day event but just missed out…. yeah I snoozed…

      • Thanks for the advice!

  • Shame there are never deals on higher powered blowers either ozito or ryobi!!!!!

I need a good excuse to buy yet another

    • +3

I want the jet blower skin to go on sale.

      • Same, id prefer a ryobi one now though, non genuine batteries are easy to get and great value so im going that way with all my gear now, plus some of their gear is wicked

        • Do you have a recommendation for a battery?

          • @bobkin: An eBay ryobi battery you mean?

            • @billdsl: Yep. Was looking at getting another genuine ryobi battery but if there’s a decent generic then great

              • @bobkin: I’ve only ordered 2*6AH units and a charger so far and had no issues, just off eBay or Amazon, I’ll dig out the info in the morning, probably all the same I’d imagine

  • seems not as good as the bundle deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/692529

    • I find the grass trimmer useless for getting a nice edge along the driveway. Thinking of returning that combo and getting this blower by itself and saving myself the $35

      • I checked the Bunnings return policy it says the goods should be unused and in a sellable condition. Now sure how to refund since I’ve used them.

        • guess i'm stuck with it then

          • @bwilso06: Return it and tell them that the line trimmer is useless and can’t even do an edge on your soft lawn. 90% chance they will refund.

    • Sadly, that bundle is not available everywhere. I called 5 bunnings around my home and they have no stock on them, and it's not listed on their website. Apparently it might be discontinued? maybe will release a newer bundle?

  • I have this kit and use it to regularly push leaves, nuts and twigs off my courtyard. It does the job fine although starts to struggle a bit when the battery is low. Will probably try a larger capacity battery when on special. Get about 25-30 minutes from the 2.0 battery.

    • +3

The blower with a 4Ah battery does give it more oomph. You can feel it and hear the difference. My guess is the extra cells allow the larger batteries to pump out more amps than the smaller packs.

      • Yeah, so hard to justify another $76 battery on top of a $99 kit.

        • It also has variable speed.

        • Only suckers pay more than whatever Aldi sell their batteries for during the special buy cycle :P

      • +1

It'll be the extra cells in parallel that will make the difference

      • yeah i agree with this, a bigger battery on these does feel like it kicks along harder up front, the small battery is fine though to get you started if you dont have a huge area to deal with

      • Anecdotally this may be the case but technically more amps will give you more run time. As both batteries are 18v the power should be much the same.

        • +1

More amp-hours will give more run time.

The smaller batteries will have one string of 5 cells wired in series. The larger batteries will have more than one of these strings wired in parallel.

Each string has a max current capability (this looks like internal resistance), so parallel strings have an increased current ability.

  • The spate of Ozito deals pushed me over the edge and I bought. $123 for three tools, one battery and a charger. Now I will have Ozito PXC, Bosch Blue and Stanley Fat Max

    • I have ryobi and bosch as they have unique tools each and triton was my occassional use cheapie tools from Masters. I’m tempted but really don’t want another battery system :’( - esp when u can get them in ryobi skins which I already have batteries for.

  • +1

Thanks so much for this, OP. Got one.
I've been looking for this to go on sale for a long while.

  • +1

    Thanks OP! Grabbed one.

  • Why would you purchase this over the blower Vac combo?

  • +1

    Thanks OP.
    Got one.

  • Can confirm this is great for gutters. The narrow head allows you to get in there and flick anything out that is stuck to the gutter. Went through 1x4.0amp battery and 1x2.0amp battery for a fairly large 4x2 property with extra patios etc. I use this thing 24/7 and have dropped it, had if fall down onto bricks and still have killed it or cracked any plastic. It’s tough!

  • Brought this in Jan full price wondering if there was a time limit for change of mind returns of I can buy ones now and refund using the old receipt

    • If it hasn't been opened you've got a chance, if it has, don't think you've got a chance.

      • Well I m just buying one for 64.5 then returning it as new

  • used my 2.5Ah drill battery when I got home, got about 10mins out of it. Not bad

  • -1

Don't bother, batteries don't last, they are generic cells, have had to repack every battery I have, 2 angle grinders burnt out with very little low impact use

    • I've had 3 batteries for a few years and haven't had this issue. Seems like you just got dud batteries?

  • Great deal!

  • Ozito vs Rockwell, which one is better? Rockwell also same price at Mitre 10

    • +1

I'm also curious about this. Ozito don't have their hedge trimmer on sale, so I'm leaning towards the rockwell as I also need a blower and sander to go with it.

  • I have one this is good enough

  • Picked mine up and had a play with it this morning. I had an old 2.5ah battery from a drill charged and ready to go.

Not the most powerful blower around but it's great for leaves and small twigs etc. It's lightweight (didn't need to swap hands while using it) and not too noisy.

Used it for almost 10 minutes and didn't seem to lose any power.

At this price IMO you can't go wrong.

  • what is the difference between this deal and this (part from battery charger pack) (https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-workshop-blower-an…)

  • Air speed of blower. 78Km/H air speed Vs 210km/h air speed.

    Size and weight.

  • +1

    Thanks OP, got one
