    PA5 that is new XD

  • +6

tempting but i will pass for the 5 time now

      • Considering support for the PS4 Pro (in terms of new first party games) will more than likely be ending this year, that is terrible advice if someone had the choice between the two.

        • +1

          Why is it terrible advice?

Many people can't get a PS5 and you can get a used PS4 Pro for half the price on market place but able to play many of the similar games on the PS4 that the PS5 can.

If Sony can't supply PS5's to everyone then there will be obvious backlash to continue support for the PS4.

      • +2

I guess it is how much you life performance, but playing PS4 games running at 60fps makes the experience so much more enjoyable to me. Ghost of Tsushima at 60fps transformed the experience, for me at least.

  • This is not a bargain… more like OzAnnouncement…

    • +2

Its kind of a bargain when you could sell it the next day for a $200 profit

    • +7

You lot have been bleating for a year and a half on every single PS5 post, pack it in eh.

      • +1

Is it possible to flip and get 200$ profit? Who on earth would pay for that as PS5 has been out for quite some time now.

        • Not defending either way, but just because it has been released does not mean it is easily available :( Lots of people pay for convenience and scalpers capitalise on thise

    • +1

      OzAnnouncement

      I'm OK with this.

  • Was surprised it can last for a minute.

    • +1

Me too, was hesitant to post it initially, but stock seemed to last
Must be a big stock just came in

      • +4

You didn't put "PS5" in the title which would send out the alert notice to most people.

    • +1

      That's what she said

  • -7

    thanks OP, bought 5

    • Amazon has 1 unit limit for this reason lol

      • Per account ;)

    • +1

      Sure you did 🙄

    • there is hardly a market for resale anymore. i checked facebook marketplace and all the PS5s there were $750. the last one i resold left me with a profit of…$60. it's no longer worth it.

  • This time lasts very very long.

      My missus dream

  • woot!

  • +9

Already have one…. good luck to everyone who really needs it

  • Gone

  • Back in stock

  • +1

8 mins .. the supply is improving.

  • +3

Lucky, I just got one. Thanks, OP!

  • -4

It not a deal just a public notice

Time it takes to compose the whole thing by the time its sold out.

Will wait for the chip industry to catch up to speed.

    • +4

hahaha Intel just said you'll be waiting until 2024.

      • Apparently if China invades Taiwan you'll be waiting till 3024.

        • If the war goes badly, you might be right

    • +1

Yeah !! how dare OP make an effort and post this, thanks for your 4 posts sajidmib you are a great contributer to ozbargain I'll tell op to delete this post just for you…

  • +1

As much as I want a PS5, i feel like i dont need one just yet, might wait for a few more games to come out. So far the only games im interested in are demon souls and the new God of war.

    • +6

Maybe not something you care about, but personally the speed increase alone has me happy with my PS5, this is aside from the other QoL upgrades on PS4 games.
My games load up and load into lobbies in half the time they do on the PS4.

    • +4

I see your point but I have the opposite idea. I thought if the PS5 is so difficult to get, it means that the price wouldn't drop soon so there's no point waiting. You are paying the same price now as when it was first launched. Together with the fact that the PS4 Pro worth more back then, I quickly sold my PS4 Pro to upgrade to a PS5. The only benefit to wait is for the game prices to drop.

    • +1

I used to play on my phone while waiting for Gran Truismo 7 to load a race but now it's pretty much instant. I know that's hardly worth $750 but it's pretty nice.

    • I agree, I bought it last time and sold it for the same price (no jacking). I don't really have much time to play anyways and mostly I play JRPGs.

    • +1

I hacked a PS4 Pro so I can effectively pirate any PS4 game I want. I still purchase and play PS4 games on my PS5 because 60fps makes the experience so much more enjoyable for me. The hacked PS4 Pro is so my kids keep off my PS5… greasy fingered little munchkins.

    • Plenty of PS4 games that have 4k 60fps patch HZD, Days Gone, Death Stranding TLOU2 etc makes a massive difference in terms of stable high frame rates I came from the PS4 Pro it was like playing a PS5 game…

  • +4

Wow. Stopped to make lunch and missed this completely 😪 I'd have more luck finding a Wonka golden ticket

  • Series X lasted about 3.5 hours last time, gave people a chance

Guess I’ll wait until PS5 Pro at this rate

    • Rumour is 2023/2024, so you might be waiting for a while though.

      • +4

I'd say later than that, they have hardly filled the quota with standard PS5

        • Much like PS4 Pro, I would picture that they'll still sell both, PS5 Pro will just be more expensive. Will make sense to launch it soon after RDNA3 GPUs launch has died down, so mid to late '23 seems realistic. AMD 5700 CPU with a mid range RDNA 3 GPU with good RT would be a beast, and they could likely charge over $1k for it

          • +2

@TimR31: They can't make enough to meet demand as it is and to meet a release in mid to late 23 would mean they were making them very soon and would mean an announcement later this year probably……I'd say there is no chance in 23 and a remote one in 24.

            • +1

@Spendmore: I agree. Considering silicon chips aren't getting cheaper, the Pro model would also be ridiculously expensive.

            • @Spendmore: I wouldn't be so confident. The chips for the Pro can be built on different manufacturing nodes, wouldn't be sacrificing one for the other. And given what people have been spending on gaming PCs lately, who's to say an $11-1200 console with genuine 4K/120Hz (or maybe 4K/60Hz good RT) capability wouldn't fly off the shelves?

I'll also point out that the PS4 Pro came out 3 years after the original. 3 years for PS5 would be Nov 2023…

              • +1

@TimR31: With that logic they are making them now then?
You can't look at the past and compare now, even if they had the capability to produce in parallel they don't have the staff in decent numbers all the way from the factory to logistics… otherwise why wouldn't they make double the chips now?
The other thing is leaks, every thing is leaked early now and usually on purpose…the only murmur I have heard is a revision of the current model to make it cheaper to make.
I would not be surprised if we don't hear any rumours of a new pro or slim until 2024.

      • And then available to purchase in 2025/2026.

  • -8

Waiting for a revision that doesn’t have any issues. Happy to wait another year or two

    • +8

Which issues ar you worried about exactly?

      • -3

There’s a large thread on whirlpool if you wanted to see.. haven’t read through it all but personally know people that have overheating issues, strange noises, freezing/crashing during game etc

        • That's what warranty is for, though I know what you mean. I'm on the fence atm. I know my local JBs take names for their upcoming drops and I got some gift cards at 15% specially for the PS5 last year but there is nothing specifically PS5 exclusive making me want to jump when I have a PS4 pro. For me I know i will stop using my perfectly good PS4 as soon as I get a 5 so figure might as well wait until the right time.

          • +1

@Damannation: Exactly. Nothing interests me atm so it works out well for me. If there was something I really wanted to play I’d take the risk and just buy one. I wouldn’t buy one just for the sake of having one now in fear of not having one later lol.

    • -4

Lol @ the downvotes, regretting your purchases I guess.

      • +4

Not half as much as I'm regretting reading yet another inane post on OzB.

      • +6

What dribble are you on about 🙄 the 99% of PS5 users have no problems myself included, maybe we should create a thread and have everyone who's ps5 work comment on it…

  • +6

i got one on launch. ive subsequently gotten 2 more for family & a friend. but its beyond a joke that its like a year and a half of not being to even get this product in a store… you gotta cross your fingers and hope you're in the right place when a batch goes on sale for the <5 minutes before gone.

just the utter state of things lol… nothing they're doing is achieving anything other than damaging consumer confidence & giving small-time grifters a hobby for a quick bit of cash extortion… it'll be 2023 and nothing will have changed either.

no point to comment, just so beyond a joke. you gotta laugh.

    • -6

Yeah, I've gotten 8 total since launch, for the same reasons (for friends & family).
They are not that difficult to get in my opinion, just gotta have Twitter notifications on and be logged in to websites (Amazon, Good Guys, Sony Store, etc.).

Totally understand a lot of people can't afford to do it at a minute notice, but I reckon everyone knows someone who can.

      • This is a bit of a silly thing to say, if everyone did what you did, you'd have struggled to get 8. If a store gets a batch of 500 in, 500 are sold in 15 minutes, not that they have an unlimited amount but the window to purchase them is 15 minutes every month or so.

The problem is limited supply to meet the high demand. So people saying they are having are hard time getting them is valid, you just have a technique to be one of the 500 who purchased one of the limited supply. If everyone used your technique, you'd have to be in the first 60 seconds to get one.

        • I think the point I was more trying to make is that the method is relatively successful (so much so that it's worked for me multiple times).
I've stopped doing it now as I don't require anymore but if someone else wanted to try it I'm sure they'd have some luck, especially nowadays with drops lasting a few more minutes before becoming out of stock.

Getting in to waiting lists at stores is also pretty successful, as I've heard Good Guys and EB have them open for quite a while every month or two and have proven to be successful for many.

I agree with you that it's a supply/demand issue and that they are difficult, I just think the difficulty is talked up by people unwilling to be prepared for drops/get onto waiting lists.

          • +1

@HagridNip: Yes but if everyone who wanted one joined waiting lists, there still wouldn't be enough consoles for everyone and the waiting lists would be incredibly long. The situation would be the same as we are in now, as no more have been produced and every PS5 has been bought from retail.

            • +1

@FabMan: I agree with your point overall, but I also don't think everyone will be joining waiting lists or subscribed to the drop notifications, as many think they are pointless/have given up - so just trying to help the few who would stumble upon my comment.

In any case, it should be getting easier with each drop as 'less' people want them, due to them having gotten it in previous drops.

    • +4

The bottleneck for PS5 availability has been TSMC's production capacity, not Sony's ability to makes PS5s. TSMC just opened a new fab in Southern Taiwan mostly servicing Apple, which means that the fab where PS5 APUs are made will have more free capacity.

They're selling every single unit they put out to retail immediately. It takes only 82 minutes to to sell 80,000 PS5 units, whereas it takes nine days to sell the same number of PS4s so I don't think customer confidence has been impacted overall.

They have pledged to keep ramping up production levels as supply chain shortages are starting to ease up. There's not a huge amount more they can do.

      More info: https://www.sony.com/en/SonyInfo/IR/library/presen/irday/pdf…

  • Any idea when the last time the Sony Store had them in stock…? Need to use my AMEX discount!

  • +5

With the ongoing stock shortages, Sony should consider updating its slogan to:

    Play Has No Limits

    • +2

      Play has no limits
      Ps5 has.

      • PS4 also has stock shortage too

    • When I was trying to get a defective controller replaced (and they were a bit slack in their replies) I used the line that it was 'limiting my play'

  • Is there still a back log on these for like 2 years now? Thought most people got their pre orders already by now.

  • Got the console. Got the fancy colour dualsense. Now just need a good deal for an SSD.

  • +1

Everyone on ozbargain that wants one should follow the twitter accounts that post earlier than ozbargain as most of the time you only have a few minutes.

But I would think expert shoppers here already have 1 if they want one?

    • +1

Lol which hater down voted me? I just want to help. Seriously isn't following those playstation 5 twitter accounts the best way to get notified earlier to buy one?

Happy to help anyone here out that wants one but can't get one yet

  • PS4 out stock past 5 years, oh wait ps6 comming out soon

  • +1

Won't it be nice when supply chains aren't completely screwed up and people can buy what they want again … If that ever happens

    • +2

Just wait until China gets involved in some big war and the western world boycotts them, you won't be able to buy anything for the next 20 years until we can convert India into the world's factory.

      • Sad but true !

      • I think Western world will still buy their stuff to be honest.

  • Scalpers are the ones winning here. Not just a supply chain issue

  • -1

i still dont understand who keeps buying ps5.. there are so few titles that are worth playing. surely the people who really wanted them must've gotten their hands on one by now?

    • +2

      Backwards compatibility mostly.
Lots of boosts PS4 games, also the upcoming PS+ tiers with BC back to PSOne.

    • I waited a year and a half since release before finally getting one. Could've bought it twice during that period but eventually bit the bullet as I now had the 75 inch tv to go with it.
