Actually probably stands for Dick's FAIL Sale!

Q: Why is beer called XXXX in Queensland?
A: Because Queenslanders can't spell beer.

+5 votestsunamisurfer on 23/05/2012 - 14:34 ¶Give'm a break there have been good Eneloop and gaming accessory deals in the past.
What about the free BR discs?
+3 votesCaptain Obvious on 23/05/2012 - 15:27 ¶You know the stores listed are the ones NOT participating, right? It's only the Hay Street and Claremont stores that aren't doing it.
+1 votewow! DSE seem to be having a fire sale on branded items, first Verbatim items, now Energizer, if this continues by this time next year(assuming they will still be around!) everything on the shelf will only be DSE branded! a habit no doubt inspired by the genuis who said "let's cut out the branded groceries items and replace them with our own brand" for Woolworths!

brucefromaustralia on 23/05/2012 - 19:57 ¶DS sales are not on at the closing stores, which are under the control of liquidators. I laughed at the $13.95 price for 50 packs of Verbatim DVR-Rs at the Logan mega centre DS, against $2 at DS stores the other day.
+1 voteThe above list of excluded stores has had some amends:
NSW: North Parramatta, Bankstown (Canterbury Rd), Baulkham Hills, Lidcombe and Sydney York & Barrack. ACT: Fyshwick. QLD: Brisbane Elizabeth Street. VIC: Chadstone (outside the shopping centre), Broadmeadows, Frankston Power Centre, Knox City and Geelong Market Sq & Melbourne Rd. SA: Elizabeth Philip Hwy and Hallett Cove.

brucefromaustralia on 24/05/2012 - 14:46 ¶They left some of the closing stores off the original list. Those are not part of DS - under liquidators, so not participating in any sales (catalogue or this type) or special deals (eg $2 DVD-R 50 packs, answering machines, hair cut sets etc).
+1 votebrucefromaustralia on 23/05/2012 - 19:51 ¶Other specials to be announced daily.
Talked to a few DS store managers today while continuing to scour the shelves for $2 deals. Was told they are not being told early what additional stock will be on special. They will be notified after 4pm Friday. They mumbled something about 'games sale fiasco'!!
Whats being released on sale tomorrow??
Here is the link! http://dicksmith.com.au/offer/XXXLSaleThurs
40% off mice, headsets, headfones, webcams.

deathking360 on 24/05/2012 - 17:49 ¶It says 40% off Headphones and Earphones does that mean headsets aren't included?
brucefromaustralia on 25/05/2012 - 07:24 ¶http://dicksmith.com.au/offer/XXXLSaleFri
15-50% off a range of electronics (15% off Apple - not ipad, up to 30% off laptops, 30% off GPS, 40% off portable DVD players, MP3s, Networking, 50% off DS memory cards, TV antennas, cables, etc)
Who wants a SD STBox for $5?? LOL
+3 votesYou are correct http://dicksmith.com.au/offer/XXXLSaleThurs no exclusions on headsets and now http://dicksmith.com.au/offer/XXXLSaleFri exclusions included

50% of dick smith AV senders.
Current price
Dick Smith 2.4GHz Digital Wireless AV Sender $179.95
Dick Smith 5.8GHz AV Sender $99.98.Are these any good? Looking to replace an old 2.4ghz AV sender I purchased from Aldi several years ago as it has very bad IR receiver that hardly ever works at all.
+1 votedeathking360 on 25/05/2012 - 16:54 ¶Well im not going because they excluded "Gaming headsets" I wounder what they classify as gaming headsets because if it dosen't say its a "Gaming Headset" on the box I would argue with that.
+1 votesuper_ace89 on 25/05/2012 - 17:31 ¶Anyone have any idea if the Phillips 5.1 Blu-ray Home Theatre is any good? From the looks of it it'll be this model http://dicksmith.com.au/product/AE3645/philips-bluray-home-t...
I have a ps3 also, would I be able to use that instead of the blu-ray player that it comes with?

+2 votesbrucefromaustralia on 26/05/2012 - 11:10 ¶Featured $328 Sanyo 40" Full HD LCD TV was $30 cheaper before the sale!
spawnpoint on 26/05/2012 - 11:37 ¶Every list some good deals, can't really find any microsoft ones which break even
+5 votesBought the MS LifeChat LX-3000 Headset for $5.98 ($20.97 Dick Smith price less $14.99 MS cashback) and MS Wireless Desktop 2000 for $8.98 ($29.97 Dick Smith price less $20.99 MS cashback).
Can't say I can personally vouch for either of the products but I reckon the end price is pretty good.
I think best buys would be (if you could find stock, none near me hence why I went with the above items):
- Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 6000 for $2.98 ($23.97 DS price less $20.99 MS cashback)
- MS LifeCam HD-3000 for $2.98 ($17.97 DS price less $14.99 MS cashback)
- Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500 for $2.98 ($17.97 DS price less $14.99 MS cashback)
- MS LifeCam VX-2000 Webcam with built in mic for $2.98 ($14.97 DS price less $11.99 MS cashback)Hope this helps someone.

Nope, can get it from most of the larger 'bricks-and-mortar' stores, but teaming it with the Dick Smith deal may help for a better final price.

Crownanchor on 26/05/2012 - 13:21 ¶Thanks for the post, just price matched a Mac Book Pro at Myer for 15% off, paid using Myer gift cards that had the extra 10% bonus two weeks ago. Also get Myer One Bonus. Which in my case is about an extra $50 value.
Crownanchor on 27/05/2012 - 11:54 ¶You are right, it looks like the new MacBook Pro is going to have a major overhaul and feature SSD drive, no Optical drive and be a thinner design with new intel processor, possibly having a lower price point also.
+1 voteLol grabbed 2 hdmi cables took them to the counter guy scanned them then stepped back scratched his head and waved 2 others over to check it "I said what's up " he said how much are they supposed to be I replied 2 for $10 he said cool that's what they've scanned at, he then told me during the staff sale earlier they were buying them at 1 for $10 he was not happy Karma baby karma :D
