40% off full priced men’s suits and suit separates
Excludes Arthur Galan AG, ck Calvin Klein, Country Road, Dangerfield,
Dom Bagnato, Gibson, Hugo Boss, Marcs, Politix, Politix 464,
Polo Ralph Lauren, R.M.Williams, Rhodes & Beckett, Rodd & Gunn,
    Sportscraft, Spurling and T.M. Lewin.

what are the good brands left for suits?

    • +3

      None! Utterly pointless.

    • +4

Ben Sherman are decent, Van Heusen aren't bad either

      • Ben Sherman just had a 40 percent off store wide at there dedicated stores, and the range is better.

        • +1

Yes, but their dedicated stores are located far and wide compared to Myers.

  • +2

This time its a good discount compared to last weeks sale at Myer

    • Yeah that was a huge disappointment, none of the suit ties were on sale.

  • another terrible sale. no good brands for mens clothes.

    • +1

The reason behind this is that the pricing of the premium brands is out of Myers control. These brands have independant sales and often have a sale at the same time as Myer, but the discounts will vary, but are often extended over Myers one day sales. Rhodes and Beckett is one example of this.

  • Where does it say bonus $10 myer gift card when purchasing $100 gift card?

    • Yup, i'm wondering where this is mentioned also. Closest thing I could find was http://www.myer.com.au/christmas-club.aspx which runs until 1st October 2012 but you have to set up direct debit.

      • "Purchase must be in one transaction. Limit of $1000 per transaction".

Confused… does this refer to the gift card purchase or the item you want to purchase using the gift cards? Eg can I buy two lots of 1000 gift cards to pay for a $2200 store item?

        • -1

The gift card purchase. I'm sure getting more than $1000 worth of cards is trivial.

      • Thanks for the heads up on gift cards. Ended up buying my mattress today rather than on Tuesday… Paid $4.55 more today though so I'm a little disappointed in myself but I couldn't be bothered with the crowds. Took advantage of their pay for single bed prices promo to get a new king mattress. There would have been a better percentage discount with Sealy but ended up with Dunlopillo because I liked the pocket springs better.

        Original Price (plus delivery): $4,899 + $55
        Discounted Price: $2,699 (44.91%) + $55
        Total Paid: $2,504 ($2,500 for $2,750 gift cards) + $4
        Actual Saving: $2,540 (49.45%)

Pretty happy with the savings :)

  • +3

i dont know why they bother having sales, theres so many conditions to it, and they pretty much exclude most of the brands that are worth buying from there.

  • This is the preview night, the full stocktake sale (which goes for weeks) commences the following day.

  • +2

There is no single day passing by without a sale at Myer…

    • +5

u expect the cream of the crop to work in retail or fast food? i think its funny when people go in looking to spend bottom dollar but expect 5 star service. the best you can hope for is someone with skills just beginning out and hasnt moved on yet

  • +4

its true the clothing selection in australia, especially for men is utterly pathetic and still charge top dollar for it. go into Myer and its like walking back in time with old levis and similar generic stuff at huge prices. I have got the odd bargain from Myer, but it always from the clearance section with an extra 75% off and its rare.

    • To be fair, businesses are not established to give you bargains. Just some food for thought. I'm a happy ozbargainer that occasional bargains do come from their Myers or HVs, and pounce :) and Pounce we should on 60% off jag wallets woohoo

  • +1

Actually, the 20% off is ultra-useful if you're wanting a D800 and am prepared to wait for it. Melbourne City can order it in - that's what I did last week.

    • Do you need pay it in full upfront or just put down some deposit only? Thanks.

      • Do they do lay-bys on the sale items?

      • +1

20% deposit (although apparently some others got away with 10%). Word on the street is no layby on orders but I didn't ask personally.

    • -1

Someone knows if Meyer employee get their 10% discount on top?
It would be great to have 30% OFF for this camera :-)

      • Yes, you can use staff discount on top of any sales available to the public.

      • +2

I think its 10% off after the reduction in price, which isn't 30%, i.e

        For example a $100 item.
        20% off $100 = $80
        - 10% team disc
        = $72 or 28%

  • +11

Why do people complain about there being a sale, don't want to pay sale price then wait for sale to finish and pay full price -_-

    • I see no positive in front of your post @ 12.08AM 2/6/2012

      • haha, happy now?

    • +2

There are not complaining that there is sale. They are complaining that its not a bargain.

  • I can't see myself turning up to this preview night sale.
The regular Myer service is now almost non-existent, but on a night like this with many more people in store, I couldn't bare the combination of crowds and queues.

But some of the discounts sound good (typical to better than normal for Myer Stocktake Sale)

    • +1

Yea, I went to myer with my gf, & I noticed they were under staffed on a normal day, but I did notice there staff were helpful & invested time in customers, but it just meant the others had to wait ages for service.

      • +1

Yeah- I'm certainly not denigrating the individual staff, who DO do their best, but the system that just means there isn't enough of them on the floor to service the expected amount of customers

        • Yep, certainly agree

      • I think you may have just went on a busy normal day. I went to Myer on a normal day to purchase a suit and got AMAZING service. It's really quite simple if you want great service then don't go on a sale day, if you want cheap items then go on a sale day, but don't expect the best service. You have to pick one or other you can't get both!

  • i just came back from the US and shopped at Macy's during their sales. If there was a sale there was no exclusions i.e. the sale would apply to hugo boss suits as well!
We are so getting screwed over here.

  • how does the gift cards work?
say i buy $400 gift cards, i get $440? but will there be a condition on when and how i use it?
i would like to buy an ipad. so was thinking of getting myers to price match target or bigW and then using the gift cards

    • Yes but often they wont be able to price match (it has to be above their cost price)

    • No condition tied to the card as payment.
Whether you can price match or not is not related to you using the gift cards.

      • This maybe false, as i did a price match recently and was asked how i would be paying for my purchase as part of the price match and if my purchase was going to be approved.

I was able to price match, but not sure if it was because it was 80% in gift cards, and 20% on credit card.

Either way was a great deal 15% off an Apple Mac, price matched DSE, with the extra 9% bonus on 80% ($10 for $100 gift card) , plus about an extra $50 bonus for Myer One ($30, for 3000 points plus $20 Silver Birthday bonus)

Myer gives the best deal in Australia for Apple Mac, based on the gift card bonus, Myer One and price match.

        • Whether you pay entirely with giftcards is irrelevant to the item and staff member, all the discounts and what not are applied earlier in the transaction, the final step is just to receive payment in whatever form/s it may be (cash, card, myer-card or gift-card).

  • As far as I understood, I can buy a gift card with max. $1000 and I would get $1100. Let's saw I would like to buy a LCD TV and it's more than 4000.
Can I buy 3 gift cards and use in one transaction? And can buy a TV with the 15% discount on 5th June and use those 3 gift cards?

    • +1

      Yes.

      • Thx for info.
Do you know if Myer employee get 10% on top of the 15% (total = 25%)? :)))

        • As far as I remember, my discount card worked on sales items. Never bought anything electrical there with it though.

        • +1

Staff members get an additional 10% off in electrical, yes. It won't be 25% off though, it'll be 15% + 10%.

  • Where do you buy the Gift Cards from first?

    • You can buy them from any register. Whether or not the staff member will know how to process the offer is the real issue.

      • What's the max someone can get ? Could I buy $3000 worth and get the $300 extra?

        • It's meant to be $1000 (at least in one transaction), but there is nothing stopping you from going to three registers and doing it ;)

  • +1

For anyone wondering/confused about the offer, here's a good example of how to use it to your advantage.

Say you want to buy a RRP$3000 TV…

    1. Tomorrow, you buy $2000 in giftcards and receive $200 in bonus.
    2. On Tuesday night, you get 15% off, which takes the TV down to $2550
    3. You use your giftcards and cash/card to pay
    4. The $3000 TV actually cost you only $2350.

If you have staff discount (additional 10% for electrical) and used that method, the TV would only cost you $2095.

    • Is the offer valid today? I want to quickly duck in and get some vouchers now and use them on a be tomorrow.

      • You can buy the giftcards tomorrow, but the offers in the OP are for Tuesday night, with the full stocktake sale commencing the following day.

    • +1

You would also get $40 back through gift cards ($20 for each $1000)

      • Sorry I don't understand what you mean.

        • If you signup for Myer One (free), you will earn points (2% back in the form of gift cards). So a $2,000 purchase will get 2 x $20 gift cards.

        • This is 100% correct as well :)

    • Can I buy Gift Card online? I tried, But there is no 'Checkout" button….

      • I think you can only buy the gift cards with the discount in-store.

  • The one day sale they held last thursday 31st May,were better offers than that on the preview night.David Jones started thier sale early so Myer had a knee jerk response and had a one day sale, but didnt advertise it, unless you subscribe to thier myerone email.

  • Will the stocktake catalogue offers apply on this night (along with new markdowns)?

    • yes, stocktake sale catalogur will apply on vip night as well as special offers which are not as good as what they offered on Thursday 31st may in thier one day sale

  • +5

Notice that irons, microwaves and vacuum cleaners are listing under entertainment. Myers know what women do for fun.

  • I bought the Scanpan classic set for 40% a few weeks ago - it hasn't been opened as I bought it as a present. Would I be able to take it back and get the extra 20% off as advertised in this sale?

    • Certainly yes.

  • Has anyone been to this sale as yet? Any suits worth looking at?

    • I got a real nice Ben Sherman Slim suit for only about $360
