  • Same price as instore.
Never used before but I feel like these days the prices of fully synthetic don't drop as often

SCA's ebay store prices are always the same as their online store. I love this about them, and they never price jack. Makes for some really good bargain hunting when sales are on.

      • but will always have to pay extra for delivery on eBay, (aka cannot do free C&C)

        • +3

Huh? You can do free C&C. I literally did it today. Maybe this differs by region? I'm in Syd

          • +1

@umexcuseme: Ahh dam we can now WTF, didn't knew about it. I guess because I had not tried to do eBay SCA order for like a year till now

But I noticed now that we cannot add multiple cheap items and pay a flat shipping rate, instead get charged delivery fee for each item individually, instead of like e.g. 7 items in 1 transaction and shipping charges for 7 x $7 instead of $7 +$1*6 or something like that

    Use CARSNS to save $5

Supercheap's website shows 5W-30 is the oil I need to use for my car. All other brands's 5W-30 fully synthetic oils fits my car according to supercheap but this one doesn't fit my car. Does anyone know why? I have 2007 Outlander 3lt petrol engine.

    • +1

      The 6B31 specs say 0w-20
      https://www.engine-specs.net/mitsubishi/6b31.html

Considering we live in Australia, personally would have no issues putting in 5w30.

      • This!
The oil filler cap on my 2010 V6 Outlander actually says 5w-30.
The Mitsubishi dealer used to put 10w-30 in it.
I don't remember seeing 0w-20 as long ago as 2007.

        • Outlanders haven't been V6 for awhile

Ya dealer uses the cheapest stuff possible

Almost all the newer petrol Mitsubishi take 0w20

          • @Poor Ass: Have you seen any deals for 0w20? Seems like they rarely go on sale

            • @Worf: yep I've posted a few

              https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/529910

              but maybe not now

              • @Poor Ass: Oh yeah, I remember that… it was a couple of years ago! Great deal with the cash back offer! Hahaha.

We’ll probably have this same conversation again in another couple years! Ha

    • +1

Sometimes it's wrong but it could also be the fact that different manufacturers have different specs even within the same viscosity of oil. Valvoline 5W-30 for example has one version for most petrol & diesel engines and another version just for Jaguar and Land Rover. Check which exact specification your car requires and if it lists that, the website is wrong and you're fine to use it.

    • What car and how many km? It's better to go 5W-40 as we live in a warmer climate.

    • +1

I would suggest 5W-40 is the one to go, you get the flow in cold start and the heat resistance in high temps.

Unless you live in Snow regions get 0w-xx.

    • Auto stores part selection tools are notoriously inaccurate, feel free to ignore with impunity.

    Excellent timing.
    Thank you.

  • This or Castrol Edge?

    • +5

I'd personally go for Castrol Edge, YMMV

      • Oh yea the fuhrer's ozbargainers' choice

    • Probably just keep using the current one if you have not met any problem.

    • +5

Castrol Edge is only a API SL rating while this is a API SP rated oil, so theoreticaly a better spec oil, by how much or what margins, got no idea.

      • Sorry no idea what’s API SL or API SP, but used to use it on my vw, believe it was Castro edge A3/B4 for European vehicles, not sure if this mobil suites?

        • +1

API SP is the new minimum engine oil standard developed to address the critical needs of today's engines; including chain wear, Low Speed Pre-Ignition, and deposit formation. API SP is the foundation for the ILSAC GF-6 specification but does not include fuel economy.Hope this helps.

        • My Merc runs Mobil1 ultimate performance( recommended for my car)

      • Wow it's up to SP now

  • Fully synthetic!!

Where's the deal on mineral 10-40, my AU is due next month!?

  • I'm not sure this is anything special - Generally tailored for newer cars that require the GF6A specification (which I ASSUME means low SAPS/Zinc)

  • +2

Great deal. Thanks OP. Looks like I'm gonna be changing my own oil now

    • Buy and then give to your mechanic lol

      • +3

You never bloody know if the mechanic ends up using the oil given for his own personal use and would still put on their cheap oil in customer's vehicle.

I had bought a 13 mm hex drain bolt to a Churchill Tyre automotive mechanic (to replace the existing torx drain bolt). I didn't really feel comfortable doing my own oil changes that time, but after a year or so I did, and I had realized I had been scammed by that mechanic. He never replaced the torx drain bolt with the hex one.

I prefer hex because it is a lot easier to take of and put on during oil changes than to be using an adapter for T45 every single time. I do have T45 tool bit, But i had rather preferred hex.

So at end I had to buy another one to do the JOB PROPERLY myself. Since that time I had never gone to a mechanic for ANY OIL CHANGE. I'd rather trust my own job than some other mechanic FOR SIMPLE OIL CHANGES. For complex jobs I'd leave to a better trusted mechanic.

        • Hey good for you I would too. I do agree some of them are real cockroaches.

But if the car was still under manufactures warranty I'll still get it rubber stamped

Out of warranty can do general maintenance yourself

The give mechanic oil was in relation to the post they did earlier

I'm grateful my local mechanic is good and can accept my own consumables parts supplied

Yep hex over torx for sure. I only know Holdens use torx right?

          • @Poor Ass: The Euros love torx as well.

            • @brifog: always had a feeling they do it on purpose so you strip it and they make more money while hex can be easily replaced and less stripping

              • @Poor Ass: I read somewhere that part of the reason they do it is to discourage working on your own car, but don't know how true it is.

                • @brifog: 100% true why would they want to lose money

          • @Poor Ass: Yes that was for a holden barina

    • you should offer to your mechanic this deal - who knows the mechanic appreciates the deal and give you the service special at least on the oil by not charging $100 ;) win-win

Scrolling through wondering if I’d see a comment from you referring to your post :)
I would be going this route as well!

      Came here for this comment

  • Anyone can help to check if it works for Mazda 3 2010 and BMW 2007 e90 too ? I used to just put any full sync oil to both car but just until recently noticed supercheap auto stated most are not compatible to those car

    • The e90 will need euro spec long life oil.
I haven't checked but I doubt this one is compatible.

Although some people will not worry about the LL aspect and just change more regularly

  • Can anyone figure out the difference between this oil and Mobil 1? Apparently Mobil 1 is their best. I am suspecting that European testing costs more. I think I'll still use this in my BMW considering it's fully synthetic and the right viscosity

    • There is a Mobil specifically for European cars, As mentioned in earlier reply I use Mobil 1 Ultimate Performance for my merc.

    • So should I also use this for my BMW E90 2007?

  • My mechanic jacked up prices. Now simple oil & filter change is $250. Better to diy now.

    • +3

      that's insane. It's a 15 minute job.

    • is it a lambo?

      • Nope. But a 6 cylinder though. Takes 6.5 ltr oil.

        • yeah def getting gyped

if it was a sports car sometimes they got like 6 drain holes

          $100 max for ya 6cyl

    • +1

Absolute rort. Do it yourself, it's fun and it's a good feeling knowing, and being in control of, what's happening inside your car. Once you get into it you'll start hoping something breaks so you can fix it :D

  • Not a fan of any oil where you cannot get specifics of the formulation. Mobil is not listing even basic stuff like the TBN.

    • +1

ya they just sell on brand not ingredients
