    420 friendly?

    • +5

      69 friendly too

      • even better

      • So crowd friendly?

  • You forgot to put in both Melbourne and Sydney in your comments…

    • -1

Yeah, nah. Melbourne is miserable for a good portion of the year. Sydney in summer is far longer and more pleasant in the transition to winter.

Then there's tassy, worst 16 months of my life (unless you enjoy the indoors or freezing cold winds)

      • +2

Good memory, not anymore - that weather has come to Sydney thanks to Industrial re-pollution (anthropogenic change of Nature)

        • Still better than Melbourne weather.

  • +9

use code WELCOME10 to get another $10 off.

    • Good one. OP - Can you put in the title please?

      • done! Cheers for that

Disappointingly the reviews look pretty ordinary. Been eyeing a dome gazebo for a good while, but it seems it may be worth paying extra for the Coleman Event 14 at $229 (eg https://www.tentworld.com.au/buy-sale/coleman-event-14-stand…), or even $299 for the Coleman Event 14 Deluxe one. I'm interested to hear views of those who have had experience with either or, even better, with both.

My god, you are so funny. Not. But childish - yes.

        • -2

You need some 420 in your life

            • +5

@belbo: Yeah it might’ve been a lame childish joke but c’mon mate. No need to be that harsh.

                • +5

@belbo: "Yeah, you guys are soft! That's why I'm gonna berate and insult you for making a joke. 'Cos I'm so tough and would never put myself out there like that 💪🏾'

        • +1

Got to say mate, you're half right, it was indeed a lame childish line but you failed to read between the lines of how to handle online trolling.

    • In the same position, on the hunt for summer. Gonna wait for the Event to go on sale as I like the sunwall

      • Thanks. Have you ever seen it lower than the current 229/299 prices? Friends of mine with the Event say they think it is worth getting the deluxe for its tougher fabric.

        • I was able to pick up the Event 14 (non deluxe) around a year ago for $188 from Tentworld. I can't recall if that was a special or how it got to that price.

          • @Ttam:

I paid about that price as well from Anaconda in Dec last year. Quite sure it was a special. I saw it on the floor, quite a few in stock. Came back a few days later and they were all gone. Fortunately one of the staff members managed to find one out the back somewhere.

Yes, deluxe makes a massive difference both it water resistance and uv

          • @bargainshooter:

Yes, deluxe makes a massive difference both it water resistance and uv

I think it depends on how you're going to use if. If you only camp when it's not raining then it might not be worth paying extra for water resistance.

The non-deluxe one does let some heat through though - the deluxe one should be better at blocking that.

            • @eug: There is a considerable difference in the UV resistance to the material, meaning it lasts longer if out in the sun a lot. Much more important than water resistance.

Mind you, @$99 you could go through a couple of these and still be ahead.

    • I have the Coleman Heat Shield Fast Pitch 12 Shelter. It's practically the same as the ones you mentioned but it has the black inner lining on the fly. Sold by Anaconda, but not anymore it seems.
They're a good shelter. Have taken it on a few camping trips and it always stands up to the winds. Haven't had ridiculous strong winds though. Also haven't had heavy rain either. But in terms of ease to put up, space it offers, and durability… It's pretty good. Easy to hang lights inside too. Paid $299 for mine.

    • I can say that my Coleman 14 is about ten years old and went to at least 30 festivals. I've torn ONE of the velcro tabs for holding the fly to the frame. I bought three extra walls to keep the wind out.

    • Deluxe version is on sale at $299 so a good buy

  • Anyone know if anything is required to weigh it down?

    • They come with cheap pegs.

      guilt

      Byo wife and kids

    • Lol yes, in high wind this will be like a sail.

with sunny days ahead get some shade (unless you live in Melbourne hahahahaha)

    Large shade for Sydney
    Large umbrella for Melbourne

  • +3

Pretty sure this is a parachute stunt kite masquerading as a sun shelter

  • +4

Is this normally more for Club members or is it one of those dodgy price tags to get people to sign up?

    • +1

      Probably the latter

    • Last year when I was shopping for one it was closer to $200.

  • Anyone know the UV rating on these?

  • +1

I have a similar dome shelter, went to the 'beach' aka down at the bay

Pros: huge - enough space for parents to sit in beach recliners while kids play in the sand building sand castles while still protected from the sun. Even at midday in peak sun, most people around us left as was too hot under sun, but we stayed. 10/10. Easy enough to pack up.

Then another time we went to the Gold Coast and after setting it up it got windy…. It was tied down quite well so it just deformed a lot…. Felt like it was going to fly away so I managed to take it down in time. Still, a great shelter but not in windy areas.

Originally wanted to but a Gazebo got the ease of putting it up - what do people think of this vs gazebos? Oztrail Deluxe for example is $199

    • Well that is over double the price so hard to compare

    • This comes in more the large carry bag compared to the long narrow hard bag with wheels the gazebo comes in.
This is huge compared to the gazebo.

  • …Nope.

    • +1

You must be from Melbourne lol

  • Steel materials, this thing weight almost 20kg. Lugging it from your car to the beach and back is a mission.

    • +1

I do with a beach cart

  • UV rating?

  • Promo code is invalid or conditions not met. Please note, promo codes are case sensitive. even with a brand new account

    • WELCOME10 worked for me last night. Hope it helps.

    • +1

Use all uppercase. It is case sensitive.

  • Maybe I can use this for golf practice with netting 3 sides.

  • These are great for windy days watching them cartwheel down teh beach taking people out on the way like 10 pin bowling..
PS… was how much? LOL is that yen?

  • Have a 20c coin handy for pulling it down.
Just drilled a hole in one and attached to a cord to go in the bag

  • Snow peak ,gazebo is beautiful but expensive
    Hmm
    Maybe one day

  • I've owned one of these style gazebos in the past and didn't like it at all compared to a conventional style. Spinifex gear is also pretty cheap usually - $99 sounds about what it's worth.
