expired $433 - Dyson DC29 Multifloor Radix Cyclone Vacuum Cleaner
This was posted 11 months 10 days ago, and might be an out-dated deal
TGG are offering the Dyson DC29 at a heavily discounted price. This is a Bagless vacuum (even more savings for Ozbargainers as there are no running costs) and is recommended for asthma and allergy sufferers. In store it was advertised for $448 (it was last week's deal of the week) however it has been discounted even further to $433 if purchased online. I went into the store to check it out and asked the salesman if they would give it to me at the web price. He went away to verify the web price and took a further $3 off the price bringing the total price down to $430 (On the basis I was to pay cash). Dyson's RRP is $679 so it's a tidy saving of $249.

+2 votesbevisaurus on 10/06/2012 - 17:46 ¶i got this about 4 months ago at Bing Lee for $380. if anyone is buying this, please try get them to go lower than $430 as they still have room to move.
+6 votesI passed by Bing Lee Rhodes NSW yesterday and they were selling this at $443 in-store, and they are having 'take min 10% off all vacuum' promotion at the moment. So worth trying to negotiate and get it for $399.
Btw, I bought this model last month from Good Guys at $443 when Dyson was having 'free 3 extra years warranty' promotion (ended 31 May).
Now it is cheaper, I am going to claim the price difference using their 30 days price guarantee.
Love this vacuum!!.

Just purchased Electrolux 3821P after testing the Dyson DC29. The Dyson is much louder, heavier, more expensive and not as sturdy as the euro built Electrolux. The 3821P you can source for around $250 online. Its fully sealed with Hepa filters. Great machine for good price.

yeah. the zen vax is good. but you missed the point as well. all vacuum cleaners make noises. there is no one vacuum cleaner that exist at this moment that you can clean silently (which is kind of an oxymoron.)
when you clean, you move stuff around, and that is noisy too.
my point is, focus on dirt cleaning, not noise making. like how people compare cars, which ones goes 0-100 fast… not which one has the most low exhaust note, which is utterly pointless.

well, i don't want to get into a bag vs bagless wars… i've used both in my lifetime as with many others… I do appreciate the convenience of bags but I am pretty much OCD when it comes to cleaning -hate knowing there is a pile of dirt sitting in the vac in one corner of the house, so I vacuum and empty the bagless at least once every week.
This works out to be around 52 bags a year, multiply by 3 years (estimated lifespan of any consumer device) and multiply by cost of the bags….
It doesn't make financial sense for a tightass like me.

@Telios
then you better seriously believe it.this is what i meant by being silly when i know it for a fact as i spent that much based on my personal experience - while you have no idea.
ask any one else who have allergies and works with a bagged vac.
i vacuum each week and chuck out the bag when i'm done, i've already said before I dislike the idea of having a pile of dirt sitting in the vac in one corner of the house.
others here may not have the same cleaning habits/requirements as me,and i respect that. So no point bringing any further this discussion.
and no, it's not funny what you said.

People have different priorities mate.
I bought the Electrolux 3821P due to the hard floor attachment that comes free with the vacuum cleaner.
I have polished wood floor and the DC29 floor head will easily scratch my floor. Yes, you can get the hard floor attachment for it but that is an extra $80 on top of the vacuum cleaner price.I tried the DC29 as well but I was annoyed by the high pitch noise that the DC29 produces and no adjustable suction level which can be an issue if you want to use it to vacuum blinds and high pile rug. I actually felt that the Electrolux has more suction than theDC29 or it might just be the different floor head design.
Dyson vacuum cleaners are more expensive due to the brand, there are other vacuum cleaners in the market that can do the same or even better job which can be bought for a lot less.
I was thinking on getting the motorhead version of the same vacuum (3861P iirc) for mom's birthday present since her vacuum cleaner is useless and she just got new carpets. It was on special for $497 @GG this afternoon.
PS: DC29 has a smaller dust capacity compared to the 3821P due to the low maximum dust level and massive cyclonic bit. Also it is only has 1400W motor vs 3821P's 2100W..

@pitiek, i agree to disagree.
in anycase, i do think dysons are expensive, even though i got one, I'm not a fan of its prices either.
As for whether there are any out there that does the job, I've yet to see any reviews that properly reviews it, the recent choice reviews had the miele dog/cat which apparently is awesome but is no longer sold in the places I looked for.
re: suction level, there is a trigger on the hose that seems to let you adjust, which i do for my own blinds and rugs, so not sure what you meant.
As for motor wattage, it's not a good indicator either, i've used one that advertised for 1900W and 2400W , but doesn't seem to clean as much as the dyson. (this is from my experience, so disputing this would be silly.)
bear in mind that i'm not saying dyson is the best, i'm saying most $200 vacuum will do their jobs nicely.
one thing I wish that they would do is to standardise testing for vacuums, so that people can make informed choices rather than be swayed by zealots.
i don't care how loud my vacuum is, i just want it to be able to suck out the dirt and i want it to be cheap. Right now, no one knows for sure, which ones are the right ones.
One thing I know for sure, people get too personal when it comes to their vacuum cleaner choices , which i think is ridiculous. ffs, it's just something that sucks dirt, makes a lot of noise.

yeah hoover 2000w is worse than the zen vax 1600w ("no loss suction") Dyson sued Vax for copying the no loss suction technology. as u can see Vax is at least as good as dyson that they felt threaten.
Dyson is "no loss suction" as well. Good product, but expensive and higher pitch in noise.
I've got old volta from electrolux, the suction is stronger than zen vax …… but only good for one room and the hepa clogged up and become useless.

no disputes there… just don't get why people think they feel personally attacked when others don't use the same brand as them. it's stupid.
it's not as if dyson is going to pay me for every +ve point i say.
it's not as if xyz is going to pay you for every -ve point you talk about dyson.and everytime someone talks bad about a vacuum, they themselves haven't own that particular model, but probably some models before. (Sounds familiar like cars too?)
standard measurements of vacuum cleaners are well overdue. at least for airconditioning, we can use BTU or wattage.
re volta, thats good when it has good suction, but pointless when a vacuum can't be used for an entire house, don't you agree?

The wattage power seems to refer to the motor not the suction and therefore even a vacuum with lower motor wattage may have higher suction wattage.
Further, I am happy with everyone buying a brand and vacuum model of their own choice. Everyone has different needs. I share my experiences and views to help others to decide if need arises, and not to convince anyone to buy brand and model I use. I like the competitiveness in the market, which may lead to enjoyable lower pricing.

It depends what you do need. If you have a baby at home or couple and you want to get something vacuumed with the 3821P you can do so while others asleep. We were using the Max Cyclonic vacuum and after placing the sealed Electrolux on the carpet it picked up a lot of dirt and still not running on full power as my partner had difficulty moving the thing :) on the carpet.

agreed that it depends on needs and I think it's just how we manage our cleaning habits.
what we did in my famaily is that whenever we clean, the baby/kids goes out for a ride or something. It's just to minimise exposure and allergies to cleaning chemicals and dusts that are flying around. Everyone else is awake and helping out in the cleaning.
So the concept of someone cleans while the rest are sleeping are quite foreign to me. :)

Dysons are overpriced and people easly get "sucked" in with their sales pitch. This bascic model only comes with a basic multi floor tool and accessories adds up.Only advantage is there is no cosumables to buy like Elelctrolux or Vax. But their prices allow you to upgrade after few years unlike Dyson

Our choice was assessed by professional housekeeper, who also stated the Dyson feels a bit, as you say "plasticy", and may break off. The head of the unit was another negative focus. There are other good brands in the market such as AEG and ETA, if these can be purchased in AU or online one has to research.

Last time I went to the local TGG salesman asked if I had seen a better price elsewhere for the coffee grinder (and the microwave oven I bought), "Sure, on your website!".
It's actually not a bad tactic to draw customers as long as they match it for those who did their research online.
