From what i've heard this is an excellent phone with built in wi-fi. Seriously thinking of upgrading my phone and getting one myself at this price.

Also many other discounted phones at DSE during this 10 day sale. If you're after a new phone check it out!

  • I would positive vote this if they weren't such buggy phones. Friend of mine got a pink one on a $49 cap with Optus. Within the first couple of weeks she had a lot of issues with it restarting whenever it felt like and sometimes just not turning on at all. She took it back to the phone store and they sat on it for a couple of weeks and eventually gave her a replacement E65, but in silver. Sure enough after about 1 month the same issues cropped up and she returned it again, getting a different Nokia with 5MP camera and GPS.

I almost got one of these too as the thought of Wi-Fi was very tempting but it turns out it's not as functional as it could be. Lots of mixed reviews so do a bit reading around before you take the plunge into one of these. CNET have a lot of user reviews, ranging from 10/10 to 1/10 because they're that buggy. Be careful!

    • actually, this is a good phone if you can upgrade it to the new firmware yourself. The older firmware is known to be buggy

  • Even if you want to use this phone on another network, you need only pay the "3" price. By law, they must unlock your phone for free.
(They previously charged an extortionate fee for this, or just flat refused to unlock it, however the ACCC has put a stop to that.)

    • So what do you tell them if they refuse? And is it just 3 that must unlock the phone for free or all other networks as well?

    • Sorry but I think you are quite wrong, there is no law to unlock phones for free, perhaps they are obligated to unlock it but you will be charged a fee.

Why would companies make a loss and subsidise handsets so they could be used on competitors networks? Phones are rarely ever sold for profit, they only make money off your service.

Would love to see any info you have on this, if it really is true.

  • Would love 3 to do a similar deal on Nokia 6220 Classic

    • The E65 model is a few years old.. the 6220 Classic is a few months old..
So no doubt, in 18-24 months, Three will have the 6220 Classic on this sort of deal… until then, you might have to stump up for the current price for a while.
