Car Rentals in Victoria (for a Week or Two)

I surprise need to rent a car for a week or two in Victoria while mine goes to the mechanic, first few places I looked at the prices are a bit horrifying. No loan options from insurance or mechanic and no family cars I can access that are safe, and can’t really live without a car.

Any tips on finding a rental for a decent price? Are there comparison sites or anything? My car is a fully novated lease deal, and the places I looked at are like 8-10 times the per day cost, before insurance for much worse cars. I’m really hoping I’m just an idiot who doesn’t know how to find decently priced rentals. Any tips?

Try sixt, but book a few days out.

  Be aware. Friend just got a SIXT car. No issues, but they lost their key. SIXT couldn't find the spare to courier to them, so had to have the car towed back to base. VERY COSTLY. I guess this applies to all car hire places. Maybe ask if they have a spare at time of rental ???

bayswater, eastcoastrentals, orana are cheap in NSW … not sure if they're in VIC.

The aggregators like expedia/skyscanner normally find decent deals too.

Make sure you check about submitting the car rental cost as an expense to the lease company. Some allow it, others dont.
