Good spec, shame about the software support.

  • Zold 3 - great price

  • Sending from fold z3, great device. Bought $1450 from trade deal 13 months ago

    • How do you like it?

      • +5

Not OP but i also got one. The tablet mode is awesome and very handy. Outside screen is passable for what is required, quick checks of things.

Cons - tablet screen is bad in the sun, shows lots of fingerprints and can't out shine the sun, crease noticeably worse. Thicccness may bother people, doesn't bother me too much, weight is fine, is actually only 30g heavier than the iphone 13 pro. Camera bump is very annoying when on the table.

Other than that, no regrets so far getting it.

      • I have the Fold3 and there is no need for an ipad any longer.

  • +9

I saw the thumbnail as a Pokemon card for a second..

  • +2

Great price for a fast charger with lightning cable

  • +1

I've had mine for a year this month and have had one of the sturdiest cases I could find. The inside of the screen has two bubbles, which will need to probably removed by samsung. Otherwise it's been a great phone

    • +2

Make sure you warranty your phone for a replacement screen protector if its less than 12 months, its free for the first replacement.

      • I think it'll be juuust over 12 months, but thank you anyway!

    • Which case? I just bought the Supcase Unicorn Beetle as im handgin my fold3 to my wife tonight.

      • VRS Design, covers the hinge as well!

  • If you use the phone outside a lot or in places that the sun can shine through like on the bus, the inside screen is horrible for glare. Reflects everything and makes the crease worse. Also the fingerprints and smudges are really noticeable too.

Otherwise, it's a great phone. I will probably get an ultra next time since I mainly watch videos and the aspect ratio makes the "screen size" the same.

  • +2

Yeah… Stay away. Just got mine returned. It's 900 to repair the hinge and mine stopped unfolding after about 10 months.

    • +1

Ehh everyones different. Have the Fold3 since release the only problem with mine is the stupid ass screen protector needs replacing because its starting to bubble up at the bottom and I can now hear the brushes inside the hinge when I open or close. I've dropped it a couple times and scuffs here and there but that's my fault. The lock button is wobbly as well but it came like that when I first got it. Doesnt open 180 though its like a lil bent which is weird.

      • +1

Exactly the same story with me 😆

      • +1

Get it to a service centre quick. It slowly gets worse and the have to replace the whole hinge which includes the inner screen. Very expensive.

        • Daam, I'll take you up on that advice. Don't want to get stuffed with expensive repairs. I love the Fold but I think after the fold3 I might go back to the normal samsung ultras until these things get sorted especially these mandatory screen protectors.

          • @iLikeSales: Same with me mate, although it's mostly because I never really use it unfolded anymore. Was great for planes and commuting to work but now that I don't do that as much it's wasted. Will just go from the Fold3 to S24 Ultra

          • +1

@iLikeSales: Fold4 in Aus doesnt have a preinstalled screen protector

            • Sent from Samsung Z Fold4
            • +1

@NobalaKoba: ALRIGHT ALRIGHT ALRIGHT! You convinced me my next phone will still be the fold :)

    • Seems my dirty phone usage practices are keeping me away from picking this up

  • +2

Have had Z Fold 3 since launch and strongly recommend it at this price. Mine has no real damage, the only thing is that it only opens up to about 176 degrees now (instead of 180 degrees fully flat). Great phone, I've even been using it caseless the last few months with no dramas. Has withstood a couple of knee/waist high drops with only minor exterior scratches on the metal frame.

The small screen is very usable, and the big screen is excellent for reading, movies (in this regard it's better than the Fold 4 since the aspect ratio is closer to movie ratio) and web-based productivity. One benefit that not many people talk about is that it's like having two phones - you can have all your on-the-go apps on your home screen on the cover screen, and a separate set of staying-put apps on your interior home screen.

    • +2

I found movies to be just ok, since the aspect ratio makes most modern movies have big black bars on top and bottom. Imo, if you watch lots of movies and thinking of getting it for this reason, the ultra might actually be better.

I also do lots of reading so the fold is good for that (MUCH better than the ultra).

    • I've had it for over 6 months and it's riddled with screen cracks, peeling & bubbling issues. Battery is paltry as you need to eventually anchor it to a charger

  • +4

    Thanks for the charger

  • +3

Been using fold 4 for four months, has been a great experience, no complaints so far.

  • +2

Thanks . Ordered the chargers + cable

  • Can anyone comment on the mic /experience w the JBL Endurance Sprint Waterproof Wireless In-Ear Sport Headphones.

    Get an iPhone

  • Trying to get 2 chargers but getting a price of $28 instead of $22…

  • +2

Thanks, ordered two chargers for $22

  • +1

I don't have one, but it's been great so far, no complaints. Although if I did buy one, there would be complaints from the minister for finance. I might end up with some cracks & bubbles in my noggin.

  • -4

Heh, reminds me of the time my workplace had an offer to get a Galaxy Fold 4 for $1249. Flip 4 was $749 too, along with cheap Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Buds.

I just wish these promotions were public so I could share this with the OzBargain community :)

    • "I just wish these promotions were public so I could share this with the OzBargain community :)"

You did share it with us, just now… AFTER it finished. It was more gloating though. It's the sort of thing 'belongsinforums' would do.

      • -2

        AFTER it finished

I don't think you understand, even if I mentioned this offer while it was running, it was only for a selected few workers in this industry. It was a launch promotion for us, and definitely a reason to work in the tech industry these days haha.

Not gloating at all, in-fact, I'm sure there are a few other users on here who were also offered this deal through their workplace. Only reason I'm sharing this is because personally, I would find this information quite interesting as I'd compare the retail cost against this for my own understanding.

I didn't even buy any of the promotional items too, happy with my 4 year old phone right now. Definitely not gloating… I didn't even benefit from it :/

  • +2

    Thanks, got some chargers.

  • Wish there were some deals on the Z Fold 4!

  • I recommend Fold 2! you can grab perfect quality second hand for $600~700

Cheers - bought the Cygnett chargers and cables 2 for $22 with free express postage 😁

Also purchased through the ShopBack app (lol pretty much first time using that app - not well versed in the whole cashback stuff).

    • +2

Haha I got the chargers too, but I decided on the standard post as I thought the price was excellent and didn't want them to lose too much money with the extra cost on postage.

I think i just lost my OzBargain Badge >.<

      • +1

Being charitable as the buyer is not the OzBargainer way young padawan 🤦🏻‍♂️

Lol nah I was silly and risking something going wrong with the check out but both options were $0! I figure they wouldn’t price them both for free if it didn’t hurt them though!

I honestly thought it was a bug due to me estimating my postage costs prior to check out and then applying the promo code, the postage cost disappeared! The rush I got! Is this is what winning feels like? Lol it was OzBargainer glory!!! 🏆🏁

  • I just upgraded from S21 (small one) to Fold 3 last week. I waited patiently for 2+ years but finally caved in. If you are a nerd/power Android user, I recommend a Fold 3 over Fold 2 or Fold 4.

Even though when I trialled it in the shops, I always thought the hinge feel would be a dealbreaker, plus the weight of the device….. I'm really enjoying it. I think you need to have a week of using it to see the difference. On my next holiday I will leave my 2-in-1 laptop at home and just use the Fold 512GB with my content stored locally.

Even though the chipsets should be similar S21 with Exynos 2100(?) vs Snapdragon…. the Fold 3 is definitely faster, for everything… firefox mobile, bitwarden, installing app updates.

I got a cracking deal, if you want to compare, from ebay, an "excellent" graded refurb 512GB was selling for $1079. Turns out it was brand new, still had all the little bits of plastic on the edges but no box. Also turns out it has Samsung Care+ so I can get a totally new replacement Fold 3 in October 2022 for no reason, for $299.

Then I had an ebay voucher for $120 off, plus shopback has $20 back and another $20 for Westpac. Then they sent me an invoice and I booked overseas trip for TRS so get the GST back, all up, cost me about $820.

Decent cases are crazy pricey for the Fold, lots of top case brands have negative reviews. But it's a bit slipperly and even a $100 case is better than spending $299 for a new phone. I'm looking at finger holders or straps for the back, which attach to a case of your choice like an Aramid case.

I'm working on getting a second launcher just for the front, there is a simple one handed launcher which is popular, and keep Nova for the main screen.

    • I have been using the Speck Presidio Perfect-Clear case for a year now. It just broke last week. I ordered a new one yesterday for $30 off eBay. The case is sturdy and provides very good protection. I also have a Quadlock universal mount stuck on the back of the case as I mount the phone on my motorbike. It also has a finger holder accessory that I attach to it when the phone is not mounted.

As for the launcher, I highly recommend trying out Niagara. It's the only launcher that has been optimised to work on both screens and is perfect for the Fold in my opinion. Takes a bit of getting used to due to the completely different layout.

      • hahaha @immortanwayne - I just popped back in to mention here that I spent more time watching YouTube videos and settled on the exact same case, for $30 from ebay! actually $28.50 with a coupon.

I'm looking at getting either the love handle grip or the pop socket 3.0: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7S84f7vTcSM or pop socket 2.0: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7S84f7vTcSM

I'll check out quad lock as well, but I think the pop socket being magsafe compatible will be better for me.

  • is this worth it over the ipad mini 6 ?

  • whats mobileciti's definition of express post? I checked out with express post and received a notification from sendle advising an eta of 3-4 business days for delivery, express post is normally next business day?

    • I received their "express post" after a week.

      • doesnt sound very express, thanks for the heads up, hate to see how the regular post option goes..
