I am typing this comment on that exact phone, of which I got for $1.3k with an s10 trade-in (phone + buds2 pro + 2yrs Samsung Care+ ). I'd feel ripped off at this price.

    • How's the battery life treating you so far?

      • +2

It's so amazing! I am blown away. I am going to ensure it lasts a long time by slow charging overnight using the routines feature. Apparently charging it to max 85% is good for battery life too, the phone suggested. Didn't know that.

        • I dont understand how this works. I usually leave my phone on charge overnight..does it not just stop charging when its full anyway?

          • @kimba88: It's an option, in settings.

          • @kimba88: Apparently slow charging prolongs battery life. In settings you can disable fast charging. Might as well try if you mainly recharge overnight I guess.

            • @pastrydemon: Oh no! I just bought a 45w charger to fast charge it! So turning off fast charging in the settings will charge it slower with my 45w charger? I've also changed it to 85% Max battery

              • @kimba88: You can choose between normal, fast and superfast charging. You can also choose whether or not to enable wireless charging.

So turning off fast charging in the settings will charge it slower with my 45w charger?

Why don't you check and report back? Your phone will report estimated time until fully charged. Or you can download Ampere and find out exactly how many watts you're charging at.

The world is your oyster my friend.

              • @kimba88: You did well :)
It won't fast charge unless you re-enable in settings. Notice the time to fully charged gets way longer and it stops saying things like super fast charging.
Good to have the option to fast charge for the times you need it, then be easier on the battery when you don't.

      • He can't respond because his phone died :P

        • Hahaha it only lost like 3% since I wrote that comment

    • How much is your s10 trade in? Mine mint s10 plus was valued at merely $80 ;(

Is the RAM soldered? 8G isn't enough these days for multitasking.

    • Its plenty. Phones use ram differently.

      • -2

Did Tim apple tell you that?

        • +1

No really, I have the S23 Ultra, it has way more ram then you need and I'm a heavy user.

Anyone who said you need more ram doesn't know what they are talking about.

More ram is literally only useful for holding multiple games in memory because you can't save them and you like to swap between them… so basically 0.001% of the population.

@CptnObvious: 30 years of experience buying a product that hasn't existed for more than 15 years?

              • -3

@Guybrush57: Androids have existed since 1972 - since the 1970s. Waseda University initiated the WABOT project in 1967, and in 1972 completed the WABOT-1, the first android. Check your facts dude.

            • +4

@CptnObvious: People aren't adding more memory to their android phones… you obviously have 30 years experience of doing the wrong thing.

And as mentioned, Android phones haven't even existed that long.

              • -3

@samfisher5986: Wow ignorance. Why do you think the slots on side of the phones are for? They are there for additional RAM and discrete graphics cards.

                • +1

@CptnObvious: Shoving graphics cards into phones? Never bloody heard of it! Extra slot on the side is for a micro-sd card, not a gpu. Mobile phone began using a brief case for a battery and a corded phone attached. Barely been around for 40years. Android phones haven't been around for 30years. There were no apps for phones, touch screens, there were no smart phone anywhere.

            • @CptnObvious: Yeah I think you're trying to bait with your BS.

        • +1

cant believe got sucked in by your comments 😆😆

    • there's no PCIE slots on phones 🤦

      • -1

wtf is PCIE. Make use of the small hole slots on top of the phone?

        • +8

          User name checks out😆

    • Yeah, not sure about the downvotes, this is the dealbreaker for me too unfortunately. I had a few extra DIMMs laying around too. I'm going to skip this generation.

    How is this a deal?

  • Got the 512GB version for $1799 including 24 months Samsung Care and a $250 voucher. All before trade in. No deal here. And is this AU stock or grey market? Can't tell from the website.

    • How did you get that?

    • got the 1tb for the ~ same amount - $1773 (maybe 1663/depending on cr below)

$300 trade in (not intending to ship back phone so might have a $60 admin fee coming - randomly typed in numbers for IMEI)
$250 evoucher - used towards a watch that i'd prob sell - as already have a watch4 classic
      $50 sign up voucher
      free 24mth care

and cash rewards $112 - tbc / bonus if it goes through

      • Dont forget to value your samsung points from the purchase also - $0.01 each if you ticked the box

        • oh yeah i redeemed 439 from the ssd nvme earier lol… $4.39 saved

  • +1

    This isn't a deal LOL

  • If the cash back sticks, I got the 1TB from samsung with 24 months care for approx $1556 after bonus trade in $300 (trade in handset worth $1), BONUSCARE, $250 voucher, samsung points @ $0.01c ea - $1642 approx if cash back doesn't validate

    • 1tb was $2249, I guess you were talking about 512Gb

      • Not talking about 512gb at all mate. 1TB $2249 Double storage deal from Samsung preorder. BONUSCARE - $124.50. - $300 + $1 bonus trade in. - $250 samsung gift card (actually needed another samsung product) - we're already at $1698 for 1TB before samsung points and cash back (if it sticks)

        • I thought you were saying 1tb for $1642, plus $250 voucher

But actually 1642 after taking account the 250 voucher

          ok
