Recently got a Band 4 Pro for my kid (smallest band I could find with built-in GPS for their running). Watch itself is ok but can't use it without creating a Huawei ID. Have the option of creating with phone number or email, but if you choose email can't continue unless you add a phone number and verify account by SMS code :/

On top of this, since the Huawei app is banned on Google Play store, I can't connect it to other apps, like Google Fit.

I bought this band a while ago, when the Huawei app was still available via Google Play, was very happy with it. However since I have to download it from a separate source, I don't think I'd ever buy a Huawei device again. Too inconvenience :/

      • Yeh I'd forgotten about this at first, was wondering why I was only getting Huawei Health "guide" apps on Play Store until I remembered.

This is the app it uses if anyone wondering.

Oh and since accounts can't be created for under 16's, need to create a parent account and and a child account under that, whereby it again asks for a mobile number to verify by code (same mobile worked though). Guess could just fudge the age, but under 16 accounts don't have their data shared for advertising etc.

Also, every time you log in, expect a slide to complete puzzle and if its a new browser verifying by txt code again (at least can switch to email for this, especially since sometimes the txt codes don't come until hours later). Can't accuse them of being lax on security :D

  • That band looks exactly like the $3 ones on AliEx. Is it really any better; or is OEM factory selling surplus Huawei products cheaper across the road? (in which case, that is the actual bargain!)

  • Going to suggest the Engerwall as an alternative to the Huawei Band (currently $41.29 including postage), it has all the features you expect but also temperature, phone alerts, find phone and a few more. The only downside is that it's not as small as other devices it only JUST fits on my 16.5cm wrist.

  • JBL endurance run are good to run in, but thats it Battery life is not much more than an hour (def not 6!) and battery warning sounds like a 100db gong to your head. Waaaay too loud. Run only buds. Good sound though.

  • The Huawei app may only be an issue if you use an android phone. Their fitness app is still available from the Apple App Store.

  • This code can't be applied to your order. For the citation
