+3 votesisn't it better to add $30 extra to get a cheap tablet instead??? at least 1gb ram+8gb and wifi ( just self opinion…. sorry if I'm in the wrong track )
but it's still a good price for kids
$49+9 = $58 already
$88.50 + Brainwavz Beta (loose pack) + Free Shipping

* although with shit resolution screen
Yes for $30 more it's a no brainer.
You can do so much more with an android tablet, good review here -

Are you sure this will play MTV files?
The rep on the previous post stated the formats it plays, but he didn't mention MTV -

Not on their website either -

+2 votesCyberGenesys on 29/07/2012 - 14:22 ¶He's talking about his Toshiba tablet not the Kaiser Bass thingy, also I believe he meant "MKV" not "MTV".
The official site for the Kaiser says it will playback MKV, but doesn't specifically state 1080p MKV files only 1080p Dvix/xvid

lamerthanlam on 29/07/2012 - 01:56 ¶Chances are it would be possible. You could always get a cheap usb car adaptor and the corresponding cable

This is what I posted few posts bellow:
The DC socket is same as Sony PSP. So any charger/cable that is designed for PSP will work (you'll need 1 or 2Amps though).
I use this cable in my car (ignoring the extra USB data plug):
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2n1-PC-USB-Charger-Charging-Data-...I also use this supposedly 2A adapter but have to say that while kids are watching @ max brightness + volume, it still gradually discharges battery:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Black-2A-Port-Universal-Mini-USB-...The adepter works fine supplying 1A for my phone, but may not be able to supply full 2A for media player!? Or maybe it's the player itself? I've been meaning to test playing MKV at full brightness and volume while plugged in AC to see if the unit still discharges but never bothered.

isn't $169+delivery way too over-price? *** at least $70-$90 profit for JB-Hifi ***
Kaiser Baas is selling for $99.95 inc shipping

POWERevolution on 29/07/2012 - 06:48 ¶combined with this post to extend play time :)
sorry for off topic, which app is best to convert iso to mkv?
+6 votesbigosmallo on 29/07/2012 - 10:17 ¶This is why I'm never getting married. I need the freedom to purchase all variety of useless gadgets.
+1 voteKing Tightarse on 29/07/2012 - 12:35 ¶I am with you mate.
There is logic and "wife logic" about purchases. She has two degree in psych but cannot explain why I get NO (zip nada nothing) closet space in our house as she "needs" it all.
I have seen dresses in there with the price tags still on from years ago…Ever watched Animal Farm? Fairer for some… :p

It can only recharge via the DC in socket - not via USB. However, you can use USB to DC plug adapter to charge using PC (slow), car adapter or even a phone charger.
Someone above asked for charging in the car. The DC socket is same as Sony PSP. So any charger/cable that is designed for PSP will work (you'll need 1 or 2Amps though).

+8 votesI have had one of these for about a month and use it every day. I thought an 8" screen would be too small but the resolution is very good so I find that ok (I convert my dvd's to mkv and allow 1GB per hour of movie)
It only has one speaker which is crappy but might be ok for kids ?
I use in ear headphones so then it is in stereo and sounds ok, the supplied headphones are too big for my ears.Haven't tried to charge from usb, I use the supplied charger and it takes about four hours to charge, in use playing videos and brightness just under half it will play for about 4 hours.
I only used the onboard 4GB of storage a couple of times, it wasn't big enough for me for movies, it might be ok for photos, I use a 32GB SD card, format to NTFS so you can use files larger than 4GB.
Be aware that if you load 4GB of files onto the onboard storage the battery gets hot and the battery level falls by 25%.
I hope it lasts without breaking, at this price it's a bargain.
King Tightarse on 29/07/2012 - 19:57 ¶Really helpful review, cheers.
Hey - whats this like as an eBook reader?
Have you tried it?
greenpossum on 29/07/2012 - 16:20 ¶I +'ed because it's a great price. However after much thinking I've decided that downloading movies to it would get old quickly. What I really want is the same specs and price but with Wifi to play directly from a server so that I can watch in bed or in a comfy chair. Gee, I'm hard to please. ;) This model would be great for travelling passengers though.
Being an OzB'er I tried to look for a free shipping or discount code, but didn't find any. Wonder if anybody else got lucky.

As far as I know, slideshow is only for photos.
And no, screen is definitely not the greatest quality (certainly not IPS) ;)
It is high resolution, non-reflective and decent picture quality, but poor viewing angle (especially when viewed from bellow). Quite sufficient for media player though and great for car use.
+1 voteLet me check it for you… Computer says no: http://support.kaiserbaas.com/Knowledgebase/List/Index/73/pe...

Thanks OP, I got one. Main use will be as a digital photo frame. With the resolution, the very nice design, and the extra features, i think it's a bargain. But i will definately take it places too, for showing pics/vids.
Don't need any of the tablet gadgetry, i've got my smart phone for that, or my laptop. :)
King Tightarse on 30/07/2012 - 09:36 ¶I keep "nearly" buying this but I wonder if it will die a slow death due to lack of updates.
Anyone know the story with these guys re firware updates etc?
Not sure do ppl know that, it's not a touch compatible display !
it's a 2+ years old machine, with different name called "Aluratek APMP101F" before, 40% off for 2+years old is reasonable but but really that "BARGAIN"
$58 for no touchscreen, no wifi, no android
the RRP is just $99.95 inc shipping

Yes we know cwayne. You're expecting a tablet pc for $58?
This is a great screen, just for media viewing. Looks like a great deal to me.

greenpossum on 30/07/2012 - 10:09 ¶I doubt that. It looks like a warehouse special and not in stores. Anyway when they are sold out they're sold out, so probably the best the can do is refund your money.
godofpizza on 31/07/2012 - 14:01 ¶i got my unit this morning for some reason it doesn't seem to turn on :(
Looks like i might have to take it back to jbhifi for a refund…
Mine arrived today.
So far very impressed, comes with all the cabling to plug in a usb stick, to plug directly into the computer, component cabling and a rca out cable, a charger and a suede carry bag.. oh and remote.
Played the latest ep of breaking bad in 720p, very watchable, speaker isn't great but does the job, headphones out sounds great.
Very happy for the price
King Tightarse on 01/08/2012 - 20:26 ¶Hey when you connect it up to another display, can you shut off the tablet's own screen?
(might be a bit distracting)
doogiechap on 02/08/2012 - 22:59 ¶It's a DC power jack like this
http://www.viltkamera.no/webshop/images/dcplug1.png
The outside diameter is approx 2mm and the supply is 5v and 2.5 amps which is pretty beefy (if you modded the charger cable to run off a USB hub a lot of them would be unhappy with the load I would imagine.
Just out of interest I found the unit does not charge off USB only the 240V adaptor :-(

+1 voteI found a random usb cord in my draw of cords and it does charge this.
For a screen protector im going to try and cut down one of my spare tab 7.7 protector.
Was also have a few playback issues with random cutouts using a lexar class 10 micro sd.
Bought a full size sandisk ultra and no cut outs during videos now.
My 4yr loves it and does keep trying to touch the screen lol.
The player wont be white for long as it easily marks.
Still available.

The "was" price is just rubbish. However, seems fairly reasonable at the current price
