The Good Guys seem to be selling the Eufycam 3 4pack with Homebase 3 for 1599 but only click&collect(at least for my side).
You can pricematch with JB and get another 5% off using discounted giftcards(Optus mates rates/Bupa etc)

Final hit from JB:-

  • Can I live stream this eufy on a desktop?

    • -5

Anyone can, like even I could stream your camera feeds!
      https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2022/12/more-eufy-camera-fla…

      ie. don't buy

And Eufy's response paraphrased "yeah we know we said the cameras didn't sync to the cloud, but just because they do, doesn't mean we lied about it. Oh and no we're not fixing the problem, it's a feature, not a bug."

      • If you dont own millions or billions of dollar not worth the effort to spy on you.thats simple and make sense for me

        • +7

that doesn't preclude your right to privacy…

“Arguing that you don't care about the right to privacy because you have nothing to hide is no different than saying you don't care about free speech because you have nothing to say.”

          ― Edward Snowden

        • The problem is, it was that simple for anyone to view your camera.

Oh and when you selected the option not to save to the cloud they did anyway and denied it. Trustworthy.

Every single service that sends you notifications does it the same way, sends thumbnails to a webhost, sends it to you, then deletes the thumbnail. This is a whole beat up over something that probably every other camera manufacturer of this type does. The URL thing is also a bit of a stretch. I can't work out your URL without already being in your network, I could brute force and find your camera possibly but I would have no idea it is yours, and as of now this flaw has been rectified anyway and is no longer a vulnerability. Your stipulation that Eufy said we aren't fixing the problem is incorrect.

Or check the Reddit eufy subreddit for some technical discussion about this.

Please note I do not own Eufy cameras, but am researching which ones to get as I was not happy with the Arlo ones I had previously.

Hmm. Not seeing anything recent when searching "privacy" in the Eufy subreddit.
Certainly nothing that indicates that the problem is fixed.

You can choose to view the problem as low importance, but you can't claim that it's resolved.

          • @ESEMCE: The stickied posts are a good start. www.google.com is also your friend, even the 2 links I provided.

            • -1

@blade1981: Your links were not of any assistance as they either ignored or brushed over the actual problems.
And as above the Subreddit has nothing using the keyword "privacy" since December 2022 (including the stickied posts) when the issue was still very much unresolved.

But I finally found it. Issues largely resolved Feb 2023.
I am happy to stand corrected. Hopefully the above link highlights to you how unresolved the issue was in December 2022.

Not sure why it was so hard.

I just searched "eufycam security issues" in google like anyone who would research it before buying and that link was the 3rd result from the top.

At least they work. Arlo is terrible. Planned obsolescence as cameras that worked fine post an update and subsequent server outage, constant camera unavailable issues.

Not to mention the EOSL debacle.

Yes, just link your phone to PC.

Did they fix the huge security flaws that they had the other cameras?

    • -5

Nope, they don't even view it as a problem.

      • Some of their clients have the same view. When I looked into that I ended up on a website that was streaming random cameras worldwide. There was one that strikes me because it was named “she knows she’s being watched” lol
So There’s a lot of people that see this as a kind of fetish 😂
Also quite a business behind it, as on a separate occasion I saw a website aggregating all kind of security camera streams for sale for 5 or 6 figures (can’t remember)

They reported that they did fix the problem. I remember a firmware update in December 2022 was the one which resolved the issue with the hard reset but the web portal issue was also fixed last year.

    • +1

I don't have any Eufy cameras but i asked this and was told the security flaw (where you press the sync button for 10 seconds it removes all the motion clips for that camera) was fixed in December firmware https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/13230491/redir

    • +1

Yes but I recommend doing your own research and not just listening to what is spouted here. Check the subreddit, read other articles posted after the one verge/arstechnica from november last year with updates etc.

Anyone know if the new homebase 3 are quicker at establishing a connection? I still have homebase 1 and sometimes trying to connect to a particular camera can take 20 secs. By that time, the person is gone and you are stuck reviewing the recorded video.

I like the idea of having the solar panel built in, but for houses with eaves, its not really going to get charged at all.

    • It depends how you mount them. I have two of these mounted just under the gutter (I made a simple mounting bracket to "extend" them out about 100mm so that they sit under the gutter) and they charge perfectly.

I bought this 4 camera kit in January and all 4 are still sitting on 94% and more.

  • If there are concerns with Eufy security - what is the best solution at a reasonable cost for a home security system?

    • Reolink I suppose. To be honest I am confused b/w the 2 but might end up buying this.

  • Shows $1799 for me.

  • I have this with 2 cameras and homebase 3, the wifi signal from the camera to homebase is terrible for some reason and it's really delayed to record clips and send me notifications

  • Just called gg $1799…
    Google has price error?

    • +1

yep, could see it's showing 1799 now. I was able to get it for 1519.05AUD though if a receipt works lemme know to get a price-match?
