This was posted 10 months 16 days ago, and might be an out-dated deal
These puppies have done well on OzBargain in the past, so I thought it a worthy post. I'd also rather an Aldi warranty then anywhere else too.

+15 votesThis is a strange coincidence:
About 15 minutes ago my girlfriend rang and we had the following conversation:
Her: "Oh my god I think I've ruined the rice cooker!!"
"Why,what happened?"
"Well, I didn't realise you are supposed to use a bowl and put the rice straight into the machine and it started burning…"
She is not very kitchen-literate at the best of times…
So this will be a good replacement.

Not many good reviews on it

Teflon material itself (PTFE) isn't carcinogenic but other material like PFOA is carcinogenic which may or may not be present depending on the manufacturer.
+1 voteTo be fair I don't think the 1.8L is the same as the 1L on sale now. My brother loves rice and cooks it daily and bought this 1L version last year from Aldi, and has not had a single problem with it.
About a month ago he upgraded to a 10 cup version from somewhere else, and it broke within a month, so is now back to using the Aldi one.
+2 votesTo make good use of these cheap rice cookers, you can actually cook Chinese hot pot in a rice cooker.

greenpossum on 05/08/2012 - 11:17 ¶I have both a rice cooker and a saucepan. When I make rice for myself and I won't forget to check it, as pointed out by the last two posts, I use the saucepan. The rice cooker is a medium size one and would involve more washing up so I use that for more servings. So both have their uses.

+1 votetodays white rice is tomorrow's white rice in the fridge for me. Next weeks rice is where you have a problem
i have been using a $10 rice cooker for around 2 years with no issues. Brown rice comes out perfectly. Never used more than 3 cups of rice, that's a lot of rice.

bigosmallo on 05/08/2012 - 11:52 ¶Never would've thought there were actually people that didn't use rice cookers.
Guess that's the ozbargain way.
+5 votesThere is only 30 Good Guys stores in the whole of NSW. How many Aldi stores are in NSW? I think dozens more so you have a better chance at getting one closer to home if you buy it from Aldi.
99cents doesn't deserve a NEG if it costs you $10 fuel to get one from your closest Good Guys store, rather than walking around the corner to Aldi's ;-)
+1 votekoreainhyuk on 05/08/2012 - 15:38 ¶Very true. I live much closer to GG than Aldi, and I didn't think of how many Aldi stores are available for people. I'll take my neg away.

I got one of these a couple of years ago and it hasn't missed a bit. Doesn't flake teflon as suggested above.
I pop in all the relevant ingredients ( rice, milk, water, brown sugar, vanilla essence and a bit of cinnamon) and leave it to do the job - makes great rice cream. Because of the milk it will tend to sputter a bit, so needs to be popped on a tray.

This appears to be the same rice cooker as I bought - It rocks. Produces great rice every time and is very easy to clean.
