This was posted 9 months 11 days ago, and might be an out-dated deal
Hi guys,
This looks like a pretty solid price for a good set of at's. Ships pretty cheap from the us over regular shipping ($11) but express is a bit more ($30)
Features:
- Exceptional audio quality for professional monitoring and mixing
- Collapsible design ideal for easy portability and convenient storage, accessory included- protective pouch
- Adjustable padded headband for comfort during long mixing/recording sessions
Short review from the depths of the amazon:
These are the best sounding headphones I've had, even right out of the box, and the bass showed noticeable improvement after only a few hours of use.
They're light, comfortable, and have amazing clarity even with their bass response. No muddy bass at all, it sounds crisp and heavy even at lower volume. They're a noticeable improvement over the other sets I have, a Grado SR80i and Sennheiser HD280 Pro's; the construction seems better than the 280's, too, with solid mountings and rotation on the cups and a reinforced cable at the jack. The cable is long enough to reach across my living room to my receiver with extra slack to spare, and with this straight cable version I don't get the tangles I have with my 280's.
All around great headphones, and I'm really happy with them. Awesome music headphones, but the clarity makes them great with dialog in movies and the bass in games is powerful without being overbearing.

I wonder why they are on sale?
The straight cord version is always more expensive in Aus. I prefer the coiled cable version since the only complaint these headphones ever get is that the cable is insanely long.
But $50 saving is the best I have ever seen - Great deal
How is it annoying?
I was thinking to get a pair of these for work (office).. and the current pair of headphones I use also have a long straight cord that always falls on floor to get sucked under my chair or get caught up by armrests etc. I thought a coiled set might be the solution.

these seal sound really well
if you close the headphone so that each ear piece is sealed against the other one
its almost like a nightclub in your hands ( you can hear the bass but nothing else)
then if you peal the seal so it just breaks, its amazing
one of my favourite things to do with the headphones to show it to people who don't know the difference between these and the standard apple ones
highly recommended ! ! !

+1 votezephyrates on 10/08/2012 - 10:09 ¶Deep bass tones, very prominent mids[ which most other headphones in this price range lack] & excellent highs..
Also, since they're closed ear, there's no external sound bleed & vey comfy to use over log periods of time..
Best set i've invested in…
Brilliant headphones! Problem with a bit of clamping over very extended periods of time but putting these headphones around a stack of books to stretch will fix that! Also, consider sticking some rolled up tissues under the ear cups to make them a deeper fit and it will sit alot better =) Considering buying another pair to 'refresh' my older set that I find so difficult to upgrade from…
spawnpoint on 10/08/2012 - 10:32 ¶if you can't tell the difference, then you are probably not. Maybe get replacement pads and that should be enough
+2 votesHD25-1 II much better in isolation, marginally better in sound and build, ATH's marginally better in comfort and usually cheaper HD25 is US$199
better to keep an eye out for the HD25-1 II's (lowest Ive seen is US$130) but dont confuse with the cheaper and inferior HD 25-SP II (gotta love marketing)
+6 votesGet a friend to buy it for you and pay them back in small inconspicuous cash installments or save the money back by eating baked beans and peanut butter sandwiches for lunch for a month at work. BAM!
Wife: "How did you get those headphones?"
ssjmark: "umm…found them."

Whoa. Ranked #2 in the category › Headphones on HeadFi. That's #2 in all categories of headphones - in-ear, around ear, over ear. And a 5-star review on Amazon with 168 (138 of which are 5-star and 23 4-star) reviews. There are no other headphones at this price with such high reviews unless I'm mistaken.
funkymonkey on 10/08/2012 - 12:05 ¶I have the coiled wire version of this that I picked up from the Sound Professionals sale. I use them paired with a headphone tube-amp/DAC. Highly recommend these and cheaper than what I paid ($128.55) if you're not fussed about the cable.
Grab an Fiio E5 or E7 to go with it.
Instant. Eargasm.

funkymonkey on 10/08/2012 - 18:58 ¶The E5 has one boost setting and the E6 has two. The boost bandwidth on the E5, I found, was very nicely matched to the M50.
The E6 has one boost (3db) that boosts the low frequencies and muddles the highs, and another (6db) that boosts the highs way more than the lows, which sounds odd with the M50's response curve.
Out of the two, the E6 is the better amp, but the boost on the E5 sounds better on the M50 than the E6. Keep in mind a lot of it will depend on what you tend to listen to and how you like your music to sound.

Before getting fiio amp from amazon read this first so you are not getting fake stuff http://www.head-fi.org/t/616077/dont-buy-any-fiio-product-fr...
+4 votesBought! I tried to 'buy together' with the Fiio E6, but they wouldn't let me deliver the E6 to Aus. BOO!
I went down to the Audio Technica store under Westfield Sydney to try out the demo model. Sticker price $219. Sounds great! I feel bad for the retail stores that don't get my business anymore…but not $100 worth of bad.
+2 votesillumination on 11/08/2012 - 13:05 ¶Removable Cable Mod! For any daredevils out there. I do want to try it but am a little worried haha.
Damn I tried to add the Fiio E5 as recommended by funkymonkey (because the E7 is too expensive) but it can't be shipped to Aus! Oh well..
illumination on 11/08/2012 - 23:34 ¶Won't work according to damfrog (a few comments above) - I've already placed an order for the M50s alone anyway.
+2 votesfair enough. I got mine from mp4nation

illumination on 13/08/2012 - 00:37 ¶Looks like a pretty decent price too! Don't think I need it though so I will resist..
+2 votesillumination on 13/08/2012 - 19:28 ¶Just for reference for others.. I bought this on Aug 10th using a 28 degrees card. It was priced at USD $109.06 + $11 shipping.
I was charged $114.33 in total. Pretty damn good rate!
