The imported ones has tougher noodle (better quality) so that if you overcook the noodle it won't break apart easily, nor absorb water too...

if you like your bass get the R1, also R1 fits better (more comfy) IMHO - R1 is better than M4 for sure, and M5 is about on par with R1

different sound, don't forget that UE600 cost twice as M4 UE600 has tighter bass, and treble extend a bit higher and has more sparkle M4...
