Oman Air Business Return: PER-Istanbul $3813, SYD-London $5333, MEL-Zurich $5142, ADL-Milan $5499 & More @ Beat That Flight

251

You don't get much cheaper than this up the pointy end, and Oman Air Business Class looks pretty epic, and is rated a 4-star airline on Skytrax. From Aus they codeshare with Thai (via Bangkok) and Malaysia Airlines (via Kuala Lumpur). You can choose from the filters on the results pages.

Oman Air is also joining the OneWorld alliance next year.

Having been to Muscat before, if you're able to have a few hours to at least go see the 2nd largest carpet/rug in the world, it's worth the visit, although check the weather because it can get really hot.

Oman Air continues on from Muscat to Europe, with destinations including Paris (France), Zurich (Switzerland), Istanbul (Turkey), Milan (Italy), Frankfurt (Germany) and London (UK).

    what a bargain

    • +7

Opportunity missed to say "O Man, what a bargain!"

      • -3

What abargain, i can spend $5000 instead of $2000. And after 36 Hours it's just a memory.

  • +4

Yeah, when you start digging around for a flight that works the gloss really falls away

  • +3

Having been to Muscat before, if you're able to have a few hours to at least go see the 2nd largest carpet/rug in the world(nazmiyalantiquerugs.com), it's worth the visit, although check the weather because it can get really hot.

A 13 hour and 14 hour layover for Sydney to London return, it better be some damn good rug.

    • I walked from my hotel in over 45 deg weather, that was an error in judgement. It was quite the rug!

    • +5

Lived in Oman for two years - Muscat is definitely worth a visit - way more authentic than the other Gulf states and much frirendlier locals. Beaches are very nice for a city and there are some very classy hotels to hang out by the pool/beach for the day if all else fails.

      • +2

I lived in Oman and can confirm, best gulf nation, super friendly people and lots to see in Muscat the capital. The only drawback is the weather where its like Darwin, sunny and hot all year.

      • The only Muscat I am interested in is the Wine.

BTF has to be the most frustrating flight comparison website to use out there

    • Sorry, I try :/ Any more info on what aspect is frustrating?

      • +1

Be more like Google flights I guess with options and settings

      • +2

Very difficult to search varied dates, especially as it’s from April-May24. I tried about 8 different flight dates and nothing near $6k

        • April to May 2024 is going to be problematic on most sites, as lots of airlines won't even release tickets > 366 days in advance, some even less. That's why I've provided some samples on the page that I've found.

  • There's other deals around
Melb to Paris 5.6k Air India

    • +1

Oh my. That is even more the bargain. Why on earth would anyone fly Air India ?????

      • +1

My family member did fly Air India last year, said, never again.

      • It's cheaper than the deal in the post and has better connections so….
Have you flown Air India business?

  • +4

I have found Qatar Business fares from Jakarta to most of Europe for $2,400 RT back in Jan.

If you do find a bargain on flights out of CGK, take a budget flight up to Jakarta - stay 2-3 days and press on. Also breaks up the trip with a nice mid point layover.

    • +1

Any examples I can't find any that cheap cheers

      • +2

        Nothing that cheap currently, can find for;
$3.9k return in ANA Business from Jakarta to New York/Miami/Atlanta via Narita and Chicago (Chicago to New York is with UA)
$3.4k return in Finnair Business (New Skycouch) from Bangkok to Amsterdam/Paris via Helsinki
$3.4k return in Oman Air Business + Lufthansa from Jakarta to Amsterdam, Oslo, Copenhagen, Berlin, Hamburg via Muscat

        • +1

Nice tip. Worth remembering. Bangkok has also been suggested to me as a cheaper airfare zone.

        • Thanks appreciate it

  • +2

I would love a stopover in Muscat, but only 14 hours… too short for a stopover and too long for a layover.

FYI: You can replicate similar prices direct on the Oman Air website. https://www.omanair.com/au/en

But do you want to? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTlras1jG4s

Beware: Oman air are not registered in Australia and if you have a problem no one will help you. They use code share and will not take an any responsibility.
I got stranded in uae and had to buy my own ticket back.

    • +1

Use a credit card with good insurance

      • You need a letter from the airline, they refused to provide one.

      • Insurance doesn't cover cancellations that are in the airline's control as the airline is meant to be responsible. Eg if there is a mechanical issue. It only covers things outside their control like weather related cancellations.

        • He said he got stranded, we don't know what the issue is. But usually if an Airline is refusing to help, i've had CC companies like Amex pull through.

          • -1

@jaygee: I don’t want this to become an argument. Just warning people. The issue was the code share airline cancelled my reservation without giving a reason, it was a 11 hr layover and Oman Air wouldn’t resolve it.

Given it’s an overseas airline not registered here no one will support you.

    • +3

Etihad is registered and I'm still waiting for a refund for a cancelled flight from back in November 2022.
It is really hard to get a response out of them.

      • -1

You can complain to fair trading, take them to court etc….
With Oman air, you don’t have options

  • mel-zuerich 51hr flight? time is money

  • +1

far cheaper to fly economy to SIN/KUL/SGN/BKK/DPS then grab a biz fare to Europe from there

    • +3

In that case you might as well fly economy the full way to Europe. That will end up being even cheaper.

    • +1

      Always has been

    • Any recent examples you could share?

  • Ridiculous premium from Brisbane.
