Would rather pay the extra $25 and get 2 years of Nikon warranty for the Nikon 35mm. (SYD pickup only)
    http://www.nikononbroadway.com/nikkor_standard_lenses.html
Otherwise good price for those not in Sydney.
Decent price on the Nikon flash though.

The Nikon 35mm prime lens is a DX lens AF-S DX 35mm f/1.8G. Kinda prefer a FX lens even though I don't have a FX camera.

      • +2

I'd prefer a FX lens as well but considering I won't be using a FX camera for at least another 5 years, I'm gonna stick with the DX lens xD

If you want a FX 35mm there's the 35mm f2.0D or the one I'd go for that costs an arm and a leg the 35mm f1.4…. my arm and legs will not like me when I get serious about photography….

Good experience with this company over the Canon 50mm 1.8 II deal

    • Same here. Was pretty happy with the last 50mm deal

and we really don't care if you have to pay GST…that is your problem, not ours.

you should just write "from Australian seller with Australia warranty". let us make up our mind whether that is important to us or not and whether we are happy to pay the premium for it, rather than being petty and mocking people for preferring a cheaper price over an Australian warranty.

you could even say "support an Australian business" if you like…

i think you deserve a neg for the narky deal description (that really is completely irrelevant).

    • only responding to the usual stuff that some (not you) say

      • +1

ok, but as i said, you could word it in a way that is not offensive and petty.

"We understand that other online stores might have cheaper prices, and if that's your preference, by all means purchase from them. However, we are an Australian company and provide our own full Australian warranty."

FYI if i was seriously considering the SB-700, i would definitely pay the extra $3 over the previous DWI deal posted on here to buy from you to get your warranty. i'm just saying you would be better off emphasizing that, rather than lowering yourself to their (narky commenters) level.

just my advice/opinion, take it or leave it.

          all comments are welcome….

        • +1

I'm with Capri - say positives not negatives, assuming comments isn't cool.

Aussie warranty, shop and location of goods are all worth $$$ extra for me. Its hard to put a price on it but if its close I'll always buy from an Australian seller. The 430EX is a nice price, thanks :)

    • At these prices… and comments from previous deal and the first comment… I think the warranty is from CamerasDirect. They imported some of these parts overseas.

However, at least the warranty is from a local retailer.

Please put up the direct product links for those lazy people (like me)

  • Happy dealing with these guys on my nifty fifty purchase, don't mind shopping with this mob again.

Selling fast - will probably end all 3 this evening

  • the 35mm f1.8 would be a great lens for anyone looking to take better photos on their nikon dx dslr. I would jump if I didn't have a sigma 30mm 1.4 already.

    • yeah hmmm…this deal (the 35mm 1.8 and SB700) and the 18-200 deal also posted recently are tempting me to pull my old nikon out of the cupboard…

  • any chance of a Canon 320ex deal coming up?
also is this the 430 ex II???
    or the original one

Negging because of your poor attitude and the fact that other stores ARE cheaper. Is this how you treat your customers?

    For the Canon 430ex II
    CameraParadise: $201.48+$66.20shipping-$10coupon = $257.68
    TDimension: $260.48 free shipping
    DWI: $265 free shipping
    Duty free central: $242.97+$33 shipping = $275.97
    Kogan: $259+$19 shipping = $278
    Digitalrev: $279 free shipping

Also, why should we care that you are charging for GST? You are selling grey products anyway which is the same as the above stores. Also with stock arriving on next week, if you are buying from Camera Paradise or T-Dimension you would probably already recieved the product from them before you even dispatch yours!

I think you can claim back the GST if you travel overseas.

      • I think you're right.

        • +1

I think you need to spend over $300 to be able to claim the gst back. But I may be wrong..

        • That's also true.

I think only one of your list is an Australian based company that contributes to the country with GST and provides local support and warranty. Kogan's price is virtually the same even though they ship direct and pay no GST.

Personally, I think they do pretty well in this case to get that close in price to even the overseas based, direct mailing companies that have no support presence here.

I'm disappointed that you negged the deal.

CamerasDirect sells grey products and is not a Nikon or Canon Australia Authorised reseller. The 'Australian warranty' they provide is not by Nikon or Canon, but is by themselves. This is similar to the overseas stores where they either have local service agents (DWI) or have door to door free pickup on faulty goods (Camera Paradise, DigitalRev, Kogan).

I agree that taking into account that they do pay GST, the price is reasonable, but they are getting their stock overseas anyway so this is a non-issue. What I do have a problem is that the rep has a poor attitude to users (including myself) who point out that others are cheaper, and that their products are in fact not Australian Stock despite what the rep seems to try claim. If you see their other deal, http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/76289 , you will see the rep trying to mislead us into thinking that what they sell is Australian stock, where in fact it is clearly grey imported stock (that we still have to pay GST on).

        • I've just been to read that deal's comments. You're right that sometimes the information is not straightforward, but in other places it is very clear how it works. It really should be that clear each time, but isn't.

I like that they can be competitive while contributing at least something to this country in the way of employment and tax contribution. I also like that they are locally available to assist with the warranty support they have arranged. I don't like that they aren't always straightforward in describing their business model (sometimes but not always).

So I do agree with some of your concerns.

    • Bought items from CameraParadise and CamerasDirect. CameraParadise accepts Paypal and their courier delivered the item to me from Hong Kong QUICKER than CameraParadise (partly due to the local courier chosen).

  • Does not show $217 for Nikon 35mm f1.8 - it's gone back up to $257?

    • Looks like the deal is finished. If you still want cheap prices, try one of those HK online sites mentioned above or eBay.

My mate and I bought two SB400(s) (one each) from an HK eBay seller. It arrived the next business day (purchased Friday, arrived Monday - well in Asia, esp HK, people do work on Saturdays).
