70

While browsing I just came across with this.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) is the new addition to the Galaxy Tab line-up. It comes to succeed the Tab 10.1, which was among the thinnest tablets around. The Tab 2 (10.1) has grown up a bit, now measuring 9.7mm of thickness.

Price: AU$364.00

  • Good value for money, the tablet is however too wide and awkward to use for my liking. I am currently borrowing a Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 3G.

Using one right now, awesome tablet and even better with a cheap stand surfing the web whilst in bed :-)

  • Apparently this device can get quite laggy.. is this true?

    • Not at all.

    • Starts stuttering as soon as you start fiilling p with widgets and whatnot. It's only a 1ghz processor. Spend a little and get the tf-300 instead

Anything will start lagging if you overcrowd with rubbish.

  • just two weeks ago I walked into good guys and got this for the girlfriend for $395. Just asked for best price. Not worth the wait to save $1.05.

    • I got mine 2 weeks ago for $340 :P

revolushenary- It can get a bit laggy if you have a number of windows open in the default browser with flash running. Basically it runs out of RAM but its not that bad and can easily be fixed but going to the task manager and killing all back ground apps. Other than that if you have a lot of apps open in the back ground the worst lag i have seen is around 1 second to go from the browser to the home screen. I dont see this as much of a problem (doesnt annoy me) as your not switching back and forward a lot. To me lag is a lot more annoying on a phone (got a Galaxy S2) as you change apps quickly just to do something for a few seconds. All in all my thoughts were that the Note 10.1 will be a shitload more expensive (pre orders out now at around $800 from memory), just works out of the box (was thinking of Kogans tablet but thank god i passed on it), resale value will be a lot stronger than a random Chinese brand, quality guaranteed out of the box being Samsung and lastly its a brand name tablet so stuff is optimized to work. I would get this if you want a bigger screen for reading (main reason i bought a tablet) or get the Nexus 7 for a more portable device.

Lastly people say the Nexus 7 or other 7' tablets are more portable as they can slip into a jacket pocket (would be sweet for portability) however from what i have seen its hard to find clothing with big enough pockets. Therefore portability is equal for both i.e your hands and so you might aswell get the bigger screen.

      Hope that helps.

"Not worth the wait to save $1.05." - wash your mouth out with soap; what sort of ozbargainer are you? :-)

I know, what a highly offensive comment that was!

  • The Acer A500 or this?? Need to decide asap ><

    • +2

From the Acer specs looks like it is around 200 grams heavier and battery is smaller. Just have a check of that but thats what sticks out to me. Both are pretty close to each other, says Honeycomb for the Acer where the Tab 2 has ICS out of the box.

Other than that i would get whatever is cheaper. If the Acer is slightly cheaper i would go the Samsung, if its $100+ cheaper go with the Acer.

      i have same problem, but…
I've made my decision, Acer A500 from http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/77526 is a steal. the price difference is 393.95-222=$171.95.
the A500 is upgradeable to ICS anyway.

haha thanks for that guys! I bought the A500

  • Good price but remember this is not the 3G version.
