DSE Set Top Box $5 + Delivery ($9.95 Melb) - No Store Stock I Could Find

30

Seems to be a good price for a set top box and reviews aren't bad.

Couldn't find any stock in my local shops

Delivery for me in Melbourne was $9.95

lol, this is a SD-STB, not worth $15!
pay a little extra to get the HD-STB

and imho, still can't beat Kogan $9.95 HD-STB free delivery! :-P

I can see Parkmore and Cranbourne in Vic have stock but barely worth $5 for only SD channels.

  • I think DSE should just donate them to the charities. Even then I doubt the charities will take them happily. I tried to donate some items last week and they said I don't want that blalala even though some items were almost like new. OMG even the charities are getting fuzzy these days.

    • freecycle them.

    • "…charities are getting fuzzy…."
      Ahhh - isn't that nice!

  • Seriously they're still trying to foist these onto the unwary? SD set top boxes are very 2001. They had a mountain of these at Robina a week or so ago for $5, not surprisingly nobody was interested (and the store was busy).

    • My friend made the mistake of buying one of these for $13 a few months ago.

Its a heap of shit lol.

  • its good enough to run the bigger flat CRT's and analog LCD for a little longer in the other room. haha

  • thanks for letting me know that sd is not good enough.
    sad
dick smith has to resort to flogging obsolete stuff long past value date when tech or latest gadgets are cheap

  • Available at Logan Hyperdome, QLD.

As mentioned above, despite the cheap price of this unit, you are better off to look for a set-top-box (STB) that is capable of receiving high-definition (HD) channels as well as standard-definition (SD) channels.

Being SD this unit will only receive about 14 out of the 19 free-to-air channels - which would be very annoying if the program you want is on one of the HD channels.

    • Its only 5$ though not incl shipping and to get a HD set box may not be worth it on some older TVs and that extra money could be put towards a replacement TV later down the track.
