iFlicks (Mac) Price Drop ($20.99 -> $1.99) - Great App for Converting Movies to iPad + Cover Art

70

I've been using iFlicks for a long time now, having paid full price ($20.99 on the US Mac App Store). I use it mainly for tidying up my movie collection into iTunes, so I can all my kids movies with proper cover art so they look pretty on the iPad. There are free alternatives (MetaX) but in my experience, they suck and crash all the time - this one is super fast and works.

How I use it:

  1. Obtain movies (Usually HD)
  2. Run through iFlicks, which correctly names, gets description and movie cover art and then Adds to iTunes
  3. Drag movie onto iPad
  4. Happy Children!

  • Does this app allow you to import dvds etc then put them on you iPhone/ iPad etc?

    • No, it does not. You will need to rip/import them first. My work flow is:

      1. Rip DVD with Ripit (www.ripitapp.com)
      2. Convert with Handbrake (www.handbrake.fr)
      3. Run it through iFlicks
      • Why not just pick the iPad preset within Handbrake and cut out the third step?

        • +1

Because iFlicks gives it nice cover-art, and fills in all the director, actor things…

        • Ah, good point. Have an imaginary internet point!

  • Damm I paid the full price!!

  • Excellent app and can recommend it to anyone who has not yet purchased. I bought it a few years ago at the full price, before it was on the App store- so worth it. I think I will purchase again at this price just so I have it attached to my iTunes account and can install on multiple machines legitimately.

  • How is this better than handbrake? (apart from the metadata)

    • For the novice it is a piece of cake…literally drag and drop, no need to change settings, etc…

I use it in conjunction with SickBeard, SABNzbd, etc… Folder actions and automation = win.

  • Cool might grab it.

  • Downloaded. Now I have to think of something to use it for! :)

    • Thought of something … and its working brilliantly, converting various file types and dropping TV shows and movies into the right places on my iPad with perfect icons/data.

      Thanks OP.

  • For two bucks, thought I'd give it a try. Not sure I wanted to download Perian though, which is coming to an end in any case.
