3DS XL $209.95 at EB Games with Voucher. In-Store Only

141

Get $40 off your 3DS XL at EBGames when you present this voucher.

This is the cheapest price I've seen in Australia so far. My store only had a couple left, so it'd probably be prudent to pre-order if you're keen on getting one. I've uploaded the voucher onto this page, but you can pick up the voucher from your local store too.

T&C's:
"Offer ends 23/9/12. While stocks last. Discount off RRP ($249.95). Limit 1 voucher per transaction. Valid only on Nintendo 3DS XL Console. Not to be combined with any other offer."

The other side of the voucher also offers a 3DS XL for $99 when you trade in your old 3DS. These two offers cannot be combined together, though.

NOTE: I don't represent EBGames as a company. I'm just a lowly casual who works at one of their stores.

In another post it was stated that copies of the vouchers are not accepted. If correct, one really needs to physically go into a store and hope one of those vouchers is there.
Can you confirm a print-out would be sufficient?
Also, can you not use your staff discount to get us an even better deal? ;-)

    • I'm just a casual so I don't know if a print-out can be accepted or not. But you can just waltz into your local store and ask for a voucher anyway.
Also there is no staff discount on hardware, so I'm in the same boat you are.

    • that was my comment and it was made since the link i had was a bad copy of voucher

      worth a try for sure

only $99 if you trade in your old one? that's not bad… tempting.

Not really as you can probably get more if you sell your 3DS privately and then use the voucher.

  • online on their website says 129 + old 3ds ? :/

    • That's the price without the voucher. With the voucher is $99.

The ppi of the old 3ds is higher than the new one??? why would you sacrifice your 3ds for?
I would still rather buy the original, the least nintendo could have done was bump up the resolution for the bigger screen.

    • The 3D on the 3DS XL is a lot better than the original 3DS. There is less of a "dead zone" for the 3D, so no more headaches if you move slightly. However, the resolution does take a small hit. It comes down to personal preference.

    • PPI isn't everything. My 24" display has both a higher resolution and PPI than my 52" TV…but I can tell you which one I would prefer to watch movies on. High density displays have their place, absolutely, but sometimes its worth sacrificing the pixel density for a larger viewing area. I haven't used the new DS, but all the reviews seem to suggest it is much better for playing games on.

  • Offer ends same day the XL is released, correct?

I've pre-ordered, so hopefully this will still work :D

The offer ends one month after the XL is released.

      • Oh right, didn't realise 23/09 :P

Hasquarl, These vouchers were meant to be given out with copies of the new Super Mario Bros 2….

  • Well, I'll just wait for second-hand 3ds XL :)

    • +1

Well, after picking up my 3DS for $124.50 brand new from DSE Southland's closing down sale, I'll wait for another to close down and do the same deal with the XL :P

  • Any chance someone can post the otherwise of the voucher?

Went to Eb games Surfers Paradise today, they had a stack of vouchers on the counter. Also, I was told the Super Mario Bros 2 deal mentioned above is a separate deal. I would definitely call/walk into your local store.

  • Could some please help me out here :) would this price still be reasonable comparing to in store prices though if I needed it in mid november? (for my sons b.day!!) shouldni risk waiting until then? I dont know much about the prices of consoles, only ever got xbox in last year toy sale with kinect for $299 with 3games :/ i feel a bit ripped off as its 4gb (although i havent stored or needed extra space for it) and kinect is hard to work in small space

Personally, I'd say there may be slightly better prices by then but they won't be so much better as to make what you paid seem particularly bad. If I was a gambling man, I'm guessing we'll see deals of around $199 before the year is out.

The hit and miss ones may be stores that offer pack in deals with games. Those can be great or not particularly good depending on what game is in it.

Long and short of it, you may be better off waiting, but if you don't I doubt you'll be too bad off. Keep in mind November and Dec can see reductions leading into XMas.

      • Depends if you want local stock. Im wondering if overseas will offer a cheap 3DS XL??

        What you think?

        • After the stuff ups with alot of mu electromics that came from overseas I prefer local stock but i wouldnt pay more than a $20 diff for items over $200 :D ITS A $20 warranty fee i see it as!!!

  • Have my doubts but hopefully we can use a print out.. I've asked on their FB page.. Will let you know the answer.

  • There will definitely be good overseas deals. Keep in mind they have Christmas, too and right now money is tight due to the financial crisis there, so companies need to work hard to encourage people to spend their hard-earned and scarce money.

  • they wouldnt accept this, you have to have bought thier version of new super mario bros 2 for $69.95 and show a reciept of it to prove it to use this voucher!
jbhi wouldnt match the deal either but have it for $229 + $44 for mario 1 or 2 or kart if you wanted any of those to go with it.
good guys would match the deal, but didnt have stock the 2 they had ordered in never turned up

    • Like I said previously this deal is a separate one from the Mario Bros 2 deal.

Here's my receipt after I bought a XL today (Sorry about the quality, Ipad photo):

It's a bit complicated as I bought the XL outright to do a system transfer before going back later to trade in my old 3DS with the receipt, but you can see the XL is $249 and I got a trade in value of $150 for my old 3DS. (The girl at the counter had to double check with another worker. Her words when she saw the trade in value, "that's crazy").

Deal is definitely legit, but I also noticed the stack of coupons from the day before were no longer on the counter. Bad luck to those who missed out.

      • i went two seperate EB games 50km apart and both of them said exactly the same thing after they both had to confirm it by the boss. they were totally unrelated stores and both said exactly the same thing as monkeypaw. they were only given out to pre-orders of some mario game. i even showed them this thread and that there is no mention on the flyer that any other purchase was needed, they said, no receipt, no voucher, no $40 off…

  • Does anyone have a receipt of the top better titles such as Mario Kart 7 for $44 at JB Hifi?
