It doesn't hold a candle to the original Amnesia: The Dark Descent.
This sequel was developed by The Chinese Room (who are best known for emotional walking simulators like Dear Esther and Everybody's Gone to the Rapture) and not Frictional Games, the developer of the first title.
I'd recommend the latest instalment, Amnesia: The Bunker which looks like a return to the purist survival horror experience of the first game.
Played the 1st one and recall it was very boring.Just because you label yourself with "cult" status doesn't make it real. But in true Ozb spirit, free is free so it gets a plus
It absolutely had cult status.
One of the first games to successfully use atmosphere over all other means to create horror. Your critique is exactly why it's considered cult status, because a lot of people want your classic action based horror games, but for a group of people this style was sorely missing and they loved it.
You mean the second one, this one, right? This game is infamous for being a contrast to the first as it has very little gameplay interactions
