Link goes to a 45gb pre paid sim page.

    • I can't find the link for it on jb I was just in the store then

      • +1

You can scroll down from your link, click on "Upfront mobile plans" then scroll down to the end for the $89 plan, but it says $1000 off.

        • Call JB if you don't believe me

          • +1

@zacaryf: No I was just saying it can be found on the website, but information on website is different.

It's a great deal, thanks for posting it.

  • There's no link on the deal on their website I can provide photos tho

    • +16

Ultra vs base model S23 is a big difference

        • You made a statement that the S23 base 128gb at Harvey Norman is a better deal. It is not the same phone. The onus is on you to provide the correct information, not comment later and expect us to "check the previous deal posted" to refer to a completely different deal and cross check your post.

            • @BargainsGrabber: How is getting a worse phone better? You didn't say the S23 base is a better value proposition in comparison. They are not like for like. No one will read your comment thinking that. Just admit you made a mistake. You still expect people to check previous deals for some odd reason.

              • @NoApostrophePlurals: I’m deleting my comments because y’all misunderstood the angle that I tried to help you with and not because I made a mistake. Please lower the tone of your comment when you reply as this is just a friendly bargain hunter community. Thanks

                • +3

@BargainsGrabber: No, I won't lower my milder than diluted pepper tone. Take your own advice, you're the one who was snarky passive aggressive first, suggesting people should check previous deals ;)

If you wanna tell me what to do then I'll tell you what to do: be more clear next time you want to try and help with a better deal instead of getting salty it backfired and looks like you made a mistake. Have a good day.

                • +2

@BargainsGrabber: First lesson on this platform , nobody's your friend! They'd screw their mother over for five cents.

                • @BargainsGrabber: The other user was just quite firm in making his/her point but I doubt they were personally coming at you, no one was.

In a couple of days, this thread would be forgotten. Cheer up.

      • Correct

    • That's not Telstra network and not the S23 Ultra.

    • Do you have a link for that deal? I can't seem to find it in HN website/catalogue

      Thanks

    • For S23 Ultra 512GB, what are the total expense from JB and HN?

  • I was just at JB you can take $1400 off the Samsung s23 phones only.

    • S23 not s23ultra?

    • You mean Ultra right? It is in their new catalogue

    • S23 series* so it's eligible for all of them :)

On a standard 128gb s23 JB are offering $0 upfront and a $250 gift card on this same plan.

      New & port customers only

  • +1

Any s23 phone. The normal, the plus or the ultra. It will take $1400 off if you get this mobile plan

  • If none of you believe me call JB HI-FI

    • +2

new catalogue from email today shows $850 OFF for any S23 with $69 plan.

  • +8

can confirm this is visible on the JB Hifi catalogue https://catalogue.jbhifi.com.au/2023/06/15-jun-cat/10/index.…

  • Can you get an additional sim on JB plans to share the data?

    • According to the JB site, yes.

Data sharing with other JB Mobile plans
Available with up to 10 eligible plans on the same account for use within Australia

      • I read that as if you have another plan (the cheapest plan being $49pm), you can share the data.

I currently have a Telstra plan. I then pay $10pm for a data sim, which allows me to use the shared data from the original plan. Is there something similar for JB plans?

        • +1

I love the data sims that were charged at a single $5 with Optus/Telstra a few years ag0 - then you could have shared data without an extra monthly fee.

    • Can you add a watch esim to the plan?

      • Surely yes. I have a watch esim on a jbhifi plan

    • Cheapest Sim JB offers is $19 a month for 25GB month to month as mobile broadband(data only) Can do up to 10 plans on an account, they need to be JB branded to get data sharing. So Telstra services are separate.

      Hope that helps.

(Also for anyone asking $5 a month watch Sim for apple and android watches does work on these plans)

  • $2000 jfc

  • +6

How much do I need to pay if I terminate the contract after 1 month?

  • Anyone know why the $49 plan has minimum plan cost of $49 as opposed to others calc over 24 months?

    • -2

I called earlier this morning at my local store (Modbury, SA) to clarify on this. They said even though it’s a month to month plan, since you’re given a discount off the Samsung range, you’re tied in for 12 months

      • I don’t see anywhere it says it is tied up to 12 months. The paperwork signed only shows month to month, so does their advertisement

      • +2

This is incorrect. It's month to month.

  • +3

How much is termination fee after 1 month and do I need to return phone?

    • $1138 ($99x23÷2) ETC + $1341($1400÷24x23) remaining handset payment.

      • ETC is based on gift card amount, and it's the internal gift card amount. You sign for $800 as that's the base GC offer. So your etc is based on that amount

        • That's how they charged me when I signed up 12 month plan for S21 two years ago.

          • @jimojr: JB have changed systems since then, the new system doesn't have the capability to change repayment amount from base amount anymore

    • +5

Doesn't this apply to every other phone?
It's a good deal in my opinion, you get the latest device, a watch and generous sim plan, all for the cost of a phone.

      • +1

Surely most ozbargainers would say this phone costs about $1500 not $2400 given the deals it's been had for?

Doesn't deserve a neg and it's probably a good enough deal if that 300gb telstra plan is what you actually need, but let's not pretend ozbargainers are paying full RRP for a Samsung device.

Terrible deal if like this commenter you only need a $100 plan from Coles amaysim, but that's not who would buy this.

    • It's a great deal you only pay 249 upfront
You get a free watch that you can sell to make the 249 back. So that's $0 upfront
Then $89 for 300gb data for 24 months when most of the time it's $99.

      • Sell the phone for say $1200 = $39pm over 24mth

    • +3

It is a great deal if you are in the market for new phone with generous phone plan
If you are like me on a budget plan from Boost ,coles or WOW this is not the plan for you.
      Now international calls included too
No need to Neg this deal

      • Great deal if you want to pay a significant amount of money - my point was more that the phone actually sells for $1600 on sale - I didn't realize that they were actually this much. Ironically I got a Pixel 6 Pro on a very good deal prior to the 7 coming out but it's just a lot for a phone.

      • Yep this 100%. If you're keen to spend money this is fine otherwise I spend roughly $300/year on my phone. $400 for a phone that lasts about 3 ish years + accessories to keep it going and $130 ish average for the boost plan.

It does me more than fine and costs far far less than this phone but each to their own. People can spend their money on whatever makes them happy

    • +1

Call me confused - a neg but you aren't even sure…

Is this even a really good deal?

  • So basically you end up paying about $99.4/m for 24 month, including s23 ultra phone, watch and plan with 300gb

    • Pretty much. That's why I think it's a great deal.

Under the Critical Information Summary https://www.telstra.com.au/help/critical-information-summari…

the Maximum Voucher Repayment Fee is $766.67 when the voucher is $800 under the $99/month plan. I wonder whether the Maximum Voucher Repayment Fee will be different when the voucher is now $1400.

If the Maximum Voucher Repayment Fee stays the same, and I cancelled right after I joined, I would be buying the S23 Ultra 256GB and the galaxy watch for $249+$766.67+$89=$1,104.67. Is that right? Not sure if I still need to pay $89 for the first month.

    • These are minimum 24 months plan(not month-on month). When I cancelled my $69 12 month plan couple of months back, it came up like
$69/2 * remaining months + voucher repayment on pro-rata basis
So here if you cancel right after you join, you would be still paying 89/2*24 =$1068 as a plan cancellation fee alone. It will be slightly higher if they charge you in full for the first month. and the voucher repayment fee will be close to $1400

Someone who took this plan today can go to Telstra App and click on the cancel option , it will tell you exactly

      • I signed up today and checked on the Telstra app, it didn’t provide me with an estimate but rather a message us or a phone number to call

    • +2

Itll be $89 right up for the first month too as they're upfront plans. And it's based on the $800

      • Correct, I took one yesterday. $89 was charged straight away and ETC is based on $800. Employer pays the monthly bill, so it worked out well :) $249 for S23 Ultra + watch

  • -3

So have I calculated this correctly?
    $99 plan for 89 = 2136
    $1000 JB voucher = -1000 (https://www.jbhifi.com.au/pages/upfront-mobile-plans)
    Phone discount = -1400
    S23 Ultra 256GB = 1649

All up: $1385 for the phone + Galaxy watch 5 + a phone plan with 300GB data? (or ~$58 pm)…assuming you were going to spend $1k on other stuff at JB

    • +6

They aren't going to give you a $1000 voucher and $1400 off a phone. It will be one or the other

    • I don't see the JB voucher in play, it's one or the other. Speaking out of my experience with a similar deal in the past.

  • +31

People love these deals it seems, despite the fact they pay Telstra $90/month for two years! Most people who have wifi at home and in their office would be way better off on a $200/year Boost plan :)

  • what is considered a good deal recently for a base model s23?

    • +2

      <$750

      • What about 256 plus?

        • Its $1399 - $400

          • @easternculture: Hey, thanks for the reply, that's starting to get not half bad.
I'm just reading that, looks like it needs to be purchased on a plan at that price too :/ Darn

I pay $25 now so anything more than $25 a month is basically out of pocket for me.

            • @hamwhisperer: I havent paid for mobile phone plans since about 2010

              • +1

@easternculture: From 2010, interesting! Could you let know how are you able to do that?

              • @easternculture: I'm confused (and I'm with you too…)

I generally tend to buy a phone I like at a discount and then use a really cheap plan which suits me, normally works out cheaper, unless of course a phone with plan is cheaper that I particularly like.

My point is, how can you say it's $1399 - $400, I don't think we can get the S23+ for $999 without buying a plan (in this particular deal?) or am I misreading?

    • Hold out for the Pixel 8 in my opnion. Banana gate issue is real with the Base S23, wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

  • +5

    Not worth having these plans.

  • +3

So deal is that you pay $2136 over 24 months and get phone for additional $249 ?

    Is that correct?

  • +1

website also mentions you receive a $100 gift card and the watch
    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/samsung-galaxy-s23-ultra-…
    Great deal

    • Yeah you’re right I didn’t see that one, make sure that you get the plan by 18 June 2023. GC bonus expires on Sunday

    • +1

not to combine with any JB mobile offer if you check the $100 gift card T&Cs.

    • +1

says not in conjunction with any JB Mobile offers

      • I received the $100 gift card.
As you are buying the phone outright and than getting a contract.
Jb also gave me an extra $50 off the phone.

  • +5

    300gb per month?

How's it possible to use that much data.

    Way overkill.

Needs to be like 30gb per month for $30. I'm happy to cop that.

    • +1

Some people just use that as home broadband.

    • +6

They do this deliberately, to keep prices high, knowing people think they're getting value even if they're only using 40gb a month

  • +1

It's not a bad deal, but for those who don't need the watch, buying via Samsung education store is better value. 256gb S23 Ultra at $1559.20 + $200 trade-in bonus. Add $100 loyalty or newsletter on top of that and let's say we're looking at $1259.20, then add your favourite sim-only plan.

But if you do want the watch, the price is actually pretty good once you factor in the interest you'll earn from not paying in full up-front in this higher-than-usual inflation age.

    • +1

Loyalty code won't work in EDU/EPP portal

    • The trade in value in the EPP is $100 so purchasing it from the retail site is $200 so it breaks even.

But with the trade in $200 (bonus), S8 trade in ($5), newsletter and loyalty bonus it takes the total down to $1253 which is pretty good with the inclusion of the Watch5 LTE

  • +5

Sometimes I think these ads are deliberately vague and unclear

  • Can you return the phone unopened and get back in gift card?

    • That’s a good question

    • We used to be able to do that couple years ago, but now you can't anymore. I've tried that in a couple of stores a year ago. Your phone will be marked with Telstra promotional device in the JB System, which will let the staff know that there's no refund or swap for the device.

      • When was the last time you did this?

        • mid 2022, I remember I still can get swap/refund Telstra device in 2019 which is a great way to get Apple product. You might still be able to pull it off if you're lucky I think as this is not prohibited by the system but by the staff. I tried 5 JB stores last times, where I almost success 1 time because the staff didn't check the IMEI however during the transaction the manager came and told her to double check if its from Telstra bundle.

          • @yummypinacolada: Oh okay, because I would like to know as well. Thanks anyway, this is a good deal since Apple iPhones are also on sale

            • @AirJordan23: No worries, you can try but I'd buy without expectation that you could refund it.

              • @yummypinacolada: Okay no worries, in the CIS says as well that you don’t have to pay the plan when you cancel just the voucher

    • The guy at JB hi-fi told me today that the phone can't be returned once I open the box, so I assume you can return an unopened box
