  • Might go for a walk on Friday, see if any feel good for me.
Although ill check prices first haha

Out of stock it seems.. email when available

A Series 2 Black Edition comes down to $692.30.

How does this compare to Desky, Ergotune or a 2nd hand Herman Miller Aeron which all come in around that $500-800 range?

    • Interested also

    • +2

FYI - Steelcase Series 2 EOFY is $609.70. Only difference I noticed are colours.

      • This one doesn't seem to have adjustable lumbar.

    • also interested in this comparison, as I need a new chair

    • Tossing up between Series 2 and Haworth Soji as they're both the same price with this discount. Anyone tried both?

    • Nvm, shipping is $149 for the steelcase and free for the Soji. Was leaning Soji anyway from looking at reviews.

  • Gesture with Fixed lumbar is tempting, can anyone comment if adjustable lumber is a must or not?

    • A must for me. The Gesture has lumber support for days. So not sure if it would fit your body right without adjustment.

      Personally I prefer the Leap….

      • Thanks for the heads up, never owned one of these. Looks like the the standard Gesture is out of stock for this, might go for the leap instead.

  • Can vouch for these chairs. I have the Leap v2 and wife has the Gesture. Both amazing. Tried the Aeron and Embody and didn't like them. The inclined seat sides of the Aeron made it feel like my legs were being forced together all day. Pretty firm seat too. #overrated

The Steelcase reclining mechanism is far superior than Herman Millers as seat itself does not tip back (it slightly slides forward). Feels natural. Seat takes some getting used to as at first it feels firm. You quickly get used to it though, particularly when you get your body in the right position.

    • +1 on the reclining mechanism. Probably the best mechanism I've had on a chair. I've tried the Aeron and have the Leap V2. I'm reclining to watch streams or youtube on the regular and bouncing up and down. Feels very natural.

Also the seats comfy in upright position too.

I was thinking of grabbing a Gesture for the office but they seem to be sold out in Sydney. Boo.

  • +1

Definitely sit in one first before purchasing. I've got a series 2 and have since gone and brought a Herman Miler Embody. The steel case chairs just don't work for me and my back.

  • Gesture pricing is way off and high. It was under $1400 last year and even lower in the preceding years.

Frankly the Fern is a much better price the performance ratio over this chair. The only Gesture pro is the arms which are best in class in adjustability, but not worth the ever increasing premium.

    • +1

Nowhere really selling the Fern with adjsutable lumbar or 4d armrests though :(

      • Haworth direct do if you're in Melbourne or Sydney, but it could be a wait if out of stock. You can even change your colors and fabrics which is what I did.

    • Agreed, if the non-leather gesture comes back in stock it will be a good deal with the current promo

  • Which is the best deal out of these for a full time work from home office chair?

    • +1

It's only a deal if the chair works for you. It's a fairly personalized thing. Any Steelcase chair will be ergonomic and of good build quality.

    • At this price-point (even with the discount), I'd say this will be an investment piece so only the one that works for you is a good deal. If you could, visit one of the showroom in major cities and try them out.

Leap v2 works for me and I've been using it in the last year, while missus prefers the Series 2 (after visiting the showroom for chair testing). I've came from an Officeworks 'ergo' chair of 7 years while missus from a 3 months old Aldi chair.

  • Thoughts on the Think vs Series 2?

  • $160 shipping to metro BNE and 10-14 days. No thanks, I've had 70kg packs delivered for far less and quicker.

  • I don't get how companies like this can exist with showrooms that are only open on weekdays, during office hours (i.e. when practically everyone is working and can't get to their showroom)

  • Doesnt look like the Gesture - Black Edition will be back in stock for the sale….pity

  • And the two other types of chairs I was looking at are also not available for pickup in Sydney.
    Not good
