Thanks @easternculture for the title. This deal was last seen two months ago and is available again. Key highlight is unlimited data at 1Mbps when you go over included data for only $10. Ideal plan for someone who doesn't use much data or uses it only occasionally for basic use cases, in an area with good Optus coverage.

  • Standard National and International SMS
  • National and International MMS
  • Voicemail

$20 plan is a winner. Combines data banking (rare for optus mvnos) with 3 month double data. This will be enough data for the vast majority.
Also has $100 international inclusion at $1/min for most zone 1 and 2 countries.
Downside is no esim, 5g or number share.
    Great option for postpaid.

    • what is data banking? is this unused data rolled on to the next month? thanks

        Yes

What do you mean available again? Isn't this a regular thing with dodo? $10 for 2gb and unlimited internet after 2gb (limited to 1mbps speed)

      Old post was expired.

Is 1mbps good enough for watching YouTube on a mobile phone?

I think so. I'd still rather pay the yearly Catch, Coles, etc plans for $89. Works out to be $7.41/month.

      • Do they have unlimited usage plans?

        • +1

Nah, you get 60G for the year but I've used it for over a year and has been plenty for me. I cap my resolution to 480 as acceptable quality. You'll have to review/capture a day's worth of your average usage pattern (in your phone network settings) and see if you use more than 164M of data per day. Like me, you may be surprised that you actually don't need that much.

@Popo: I'm surprised I use so much despite being on an unlimited 1.5Mbps speed limited plan with Telstra. Last month I used 120GB. An annual plan would need to provide 1,500GB or provide unlimited data.

I'm just wondering whether 1Mbps would be enough. 1.5Mbps seems to be OK for streaming at 480p SD quality. Takes a few seconds for the stream to start but once it's going it seems fine.

  • I would never again do business with such a shady company after my broadband experience with them.

      • I used to have broadband with this mob. Every single day between 5pm and 11pm they used to limit the speed to dial up level.

2GB what a joke, it be used up in a day.

Need to point out it's a $10/month postpaid service and this is Australia. So yeah, 2 gigs a month and unlimited calls for that is considered cheap.

  • Looks like they ditched the unltd calls, no data $5 plan

  • Upadted now : Once you have used your data allowance plus eligible banked data your speed will slow to 256Kbps.

    • Thank you for the update. 256kbps is too slow. I'll need to switch to another provider.

  • Any other providers recommended now that Dodo have completely butchered the speed?

  • Not worth getting anymore if you're planning to go over 2GB/month. Capping the speed of excess data at 256Kbps instead of the original 1Mbps makes this pretty much unusable for almost everything.
(this deal should probably be edited or expired)
